I haven't used almond butter too much, but I find PB pretty filling.

But that's kinda irrelevant - you just have to go with your own experience Trust it.

However, the banana might be a more likely culprit.

Also, if the "particular food" - "then craving" thing hasn't happened several times, I wouldn't put much stock into it at all, other than paying attention to see if it happens again or is a fluke. So many factors are involved in when we feel hunger and cravings.

I agree that the banana is a more likely culprit. In general, adding a small amount of protein and/or fat makes fruit more filling.

However, the flavor combination of salt, fat, and sweetness can also trigger appetite spikes (to some people more than others).

Did you notice the hunger spike immediately (you wanted to keep eating) or were you initially satisfied, but got hungry sooner than you expected?

usually when i have a banana by itself i'm fine. but when i have almond butter...with something or alone i just want more. maybe it has to become a restricted food for me.

"Scientifically" the almond butter should have slowed the hunger down, since it's a protein. Maybe it's a head hunger? I know a lot of people that have to just say no to specific things because they can't stop at just one. (including myself!) Maybe it's just a trigger?
