Default Now to repeat 2009!

This time last year, I weighed 31lbs MORE than I do now.

Admittedly, this time six months ago, I weighed 19lbs less than now.

However, the fact remains that I begin 2010 31lbs healthier than I began 2009. Given the house move/new job/death of a relationship/foothills of depression year that 2009 was, I am disposed to be proud of myself, and grateful to chickies here for their support.

So I am proposing to myself a 3-tier goal structure for 2010.

My bare minimum goal is to begin 2011 another 31lbs lighter than today.
This would take me out of 'obese' and into 'overweight'.
My medium-best goal is to begin 2011 50lbs lighter than today.
This would take me to within half a stone of 'normal'.
My best case scenario goal is to begin 2011 72lbs lighter than today.
This would take me to the goal weight I began to aim for in 2002 (half my startweight) and got to within 16lbs of in 2004, before smothering it over the following 5 years.

Happy New Year to all chickies, and may your shadows ever grow slenderer!

Well done 31lb in one year is good

I'm starting 2010 77lb less then i started 2009 and 116lb less then I started 2008. I only started seriously concentrating on losing weight in March and haven't been very on plan the last few weeks so could of been a lot lighter by now but still it's very motivating to see how far I've come

I will be very happy to lose between 30 and 45lb this year Even if I don't make it to goal this year(which I am hoping to do) 30lb would be good.

I had a bare minimum goal last year and a medium goal and an ideal goal. It worked very well. 16 stones was my minimum goal and 14 stones my ideal goal and i ended the year just under 14 stones. I think it worked as I put a lot less pressure on myself then I had in the past but still had a much lower weight in mind as well to give myself the extra push

All the best with your goals

Well hello there! I was actually thinking about you the other day, wondering how you were doing.. I'm glad to hear from you.

31 lbs is AWESOME!! You have worked hard and got yourself a nice pay off.

You've mapped out some nice goals for yourself. I say push yourself. Challenge yourself. Reach. Stretch. Strive. Step up to meet the challenge. Grow. Prosper. AMAZE YOURSELF. Be all that you can be. You've got the knowledge and the power to do this. Reach for the stars! Aim low, you get low. Aim high - you get high.

I look forward to hearing of your personal growth and progress.

I really like having "tiered" (is that word?) goals. A "i'd be happy with" goal, a "I'd be very happy with goal" and a "I'd be esctatic goal". Sometimes we only set our goals too high and then we feel miserable when we fall short. Having things attainable definitely helps while also holding out the possibility that even more things can happen.

Think of how 31 "one pound" bags of sugar look like. That is the equivalent of what you've taken off your body. That is so amazing!

Congrats Rosinante. Sounds like you had a LOT going on this last year, and finishing up 31 lbs down from where you started is great! Good luck on the next stage of your journey.
