Default Sugar Busters / Glycemic Index Help

Hello all,
I'm new to the blogging thing but I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I'm 44 and Have been dieting my whole life. When people say to "eat normal" I don't know wht that means. I really need a lifestyle that will help me shed 50lbs but I can't weigh measure count and journal any more. I need to be free of this type of thinking for my own sanity.
My sister recommended Sugar Busters because it really worked for her family and it's a way of eating... not a diet. Since starting I have gained 5lbs. So very frustrating!!! My suspician is that I'm eating too much fat. Has anyone out there tried the sugar busters life or lost weight using the glycemic index.
How much fat is too much fat? What tips can you share with me? Thanks in advance for your advice.
Stacey
