The Sizzlin' Hot August Exercise Thread...
Welcome!
...To the August exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit and give ourselves some accountability!
In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework!
We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group!
Please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.
If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!
Also, we are working on our 100K challenge -- how quickly can we make it to 100,000 minutes of exercise. (But don't worry, I'll track those numbers separately...)
Here's where we stand so far on that challenge:
January: 9418 minutes
February: 11,129 minutes
March: 15,917 minutes
April: 10,700 minutes
May: 16,091 minutes
June: 13,603 minutes
July: 14,758 minutes
TOTAL thru July: 91,616 minutes!!! -- Yes, we are almost there! Watch for it, because we only need 8,384 minutes!!!!

Oh boy, here we go again all over! Because of the hot weather and I had to curtail things a bit the past couple weeks I am going to go a bit lower than last month and say my August goal is 1500 minutes.

I'd like to set a higher goal, but since I didn't make my July goal, I'm going to set my goal a little higher than what I accomplished in July: 900 minutes.
My plan is to start with 30 minutes of low-intensity exercise daily (stretching, walking, strength conditioning) and 10 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise daily. If I achieve that, I'd exceed the 900 min for the month, but I'll leave that as my bottom line in hopes of actually meeting that goal for August. Beyond achieving a minute goal, my mission for August is to make exercise a habit and build up the length of time I can spend on moderate-intensity exercise.

I haven't been doing so hot at making my exercise goals so far. I am going to bump mine back down to 600. That will probably even be a stretch.

I am really feeling like exercise is my key, so I am going to go for 1500 minutes. I will make my goal of 700 minutes for the second half of July, so that is just a bit of an increase.

I have this tendency to JUST meet every single goal! It's very much a psychological thing for me. I make them, but never go over by much! But at the same time, I go up gradually... I think I'm going to go up from 1200 to 1300 minutes for August. I think my minutes might come down in Sept once classes start again.

Well. July was a bust for me. Between my respiratory infection and two weeks of 110 - 115 degree weather, my exercise went out the window and I ended up not even posting the little bit of exercise I've done the past week or so.
SOOOO...I'm ready to start again in August. I will set the same goal that I had for July of 1300 minutes. I know this will be a better month!!

I'll post back here in August once I've fully made up my mind.

I'm going to start with 1,000. It'll be a boost up from what I am doing now (850) so that'll be good! Exercise is the key for me as well so good to have a goal for it!

You've inspired me, Vortex! I need to become LOTS more regular in my exercise habits! My past record is not good, so I'll shoot for 500 minutes this month.
