300+ And Ready To Try Again.....#959

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!

Happy HOTTTTTTTT Monday!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I sweated out about 15 pounds while out and about today!!!!!! lol.

Okay so today I had Chinese. We went to a buffet -- not a good idea, but I think I did good. I got a LITTLE bit of everything (except the fried foods, I skipped those, well I did eat some Crab Rangoon, but that was it for the fried stuff!) I also found out that by eating Spicy foods, it does two things. It makes me SWEAT (even more than I already was) so that is another calorie burner, and it makes me not want to eat a bunch of it so I don't over eat!!!!! I think this is the best thing since sliced cheese for me! lollllllllllllllllllllll.

I plan on trying out my new Walking At Home DVD because its just too darn hot to walk outside!!!!!!!!!!!

Jill & Ammi - Yes work drama takes its toll on ya, doesn't it? lol. In my case I think the drama might be finally resolved, or at least I hope. Our Manager is on the warpath now so I think he is going to get it resolved. (its about someone outside our team that he is on the warpath about)

Abby - I too love my cats like my own children. I don't have any specific breed, they are just average everyday fat and lazy house cats. lol.

Have a Wonderful Night! I know I am, because I am NOT at work! WHOO-HOO! and I always have 3 days off. lol. I love it. It makes working longer hours worthwhile! lol.

If anybody is online and wants to chat, just PM me with your ID's! I have AIM, Yahoo and MSN.

Hello Ladies - Been really busy preparing for my Sea Calvalcade booth, I just noticed I missed a whole thread!!! :o Well, I can't catch up on personals now - but congrats to all the "losers" and  to those who need it! Got in over 2.6 miles today - 6256 of my steps - woo hoo! :carrot: Got some more - 46!! - pictures developed today...makes a total of around 150 photos! I'm really excited - I'm actually proud of something...some of my photos are - if I may say so - so beautiful...I can't believe I took them!! I will take and post pics of Sea Calvalcade for anyone who is interested to see. Weigh-in is tomorrow...I'm hoping for the usual -2, but I'm only 1.5 away from -20...so I'd take that!! :D Well I'm off for now...I couldn't even begin to pick up for personals, lol. But, a big TY to Ammi for the feedback - I'm glad you liked some of my pics! :)
Have a good one everybody, and stay OP chickies!!

I am BUMMED!! :)

Hi everybody

Ammi, great job on the weight loss... congratulations.

Wow I could sure relate to your reasons for losing weight! That was pretty much my motivation too.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words... wow I sure needed them today. I did fine on the restaurant... ordered a dinner salad and had it without dressing... blah but made it through. Then ate some fruit and yogurt I had at work.

But I am bummed! During the last month I only lost 6 pounds... but okay that is still about 1.5 pounds a week so I can live with that... except today I GAINED back 3 of them!!! This is ridiculous! I don't mind doing all this hard work but I do want something to show for it. I do have to wonder though if part of it is gaining muscle since I am wearing much smaller clothes than I could a month ago. If there was a quitting place this would be it, but of course there isn't. :) I will just keep on fighting the fat but it is so discouraging.

Oh well... whine whine whine. :) Gotta just get busy!

Sassy_Chick 07-18-2006 03:50 AM

Melissa - Good Going on the 2.6 miles! :D I want to start my WATP DVD but just haven't yet...............UGH...............I think this heat has sucked the life right out of me! lol.

Misty - It could be muscle or even water weight. Please don't be bummed. :( If your bummed then I'll have to be bummed that your bummed and that is a big bummer! lol. I hope today is a better day for ya!

Hey everybody else, I hope you all are doing well! ;)

voodoo1 07-18-2006 04:27 AM

Dolphin girl, I remember you having similar probs with your guy before.:( I hope you realise how special you are and that you deserve the respect & love you give to be returned. I am here for you, as I bet; everyone else is, if you need a moan pm me or just post. YOU ARE DOING SO WELL NOT LETTING THIS BE A REASON TO GAIN WEIGHT!!!!:carrot: You have lost so much weight, be proud of yourself & your achievements!
Jilly that is awful that your landlord can charge extra for pets, do they charge more if you have kids? Coz I bet a baby or small kid makes loads more mess than any cat or dog!!
Misti, I bet the heat is doing it to you, I find I swell up loads no matter how much water I drink when it's hot. Could it be to do with TOM or other 'woman stuff'? If you are being good it CAN'T be a 'real' gain.
Ammi I will try & post a couple of pics of Steve on the pics page NOW I KNOW HOW TO DO IT, :dizzy: :?: lol!!! I am so jealous of your weight loss, but in a good way!;)
RKS WOW, I never realised how much you have lost so far, one piece of cake isn't going to do that much damage after all the work & committment you have already put in.
I have to go & hang washing out, I'm debating whether to go into town now whilst it's still reasonably cool or do some housework first but it will be REALLY hot after lunch when I'm done. :?:
xxxxxsharon:hug:

AmmiUK 07-18-2006 06:19 AM

Good Morning All,

I have just finished cleaning my kitchen and descaling my iron  and at 11 am it is already too hot to do any more work. The ironing will have to wait until tonight when it is cooler.

Rkrs - thanks for the congrats on my weight loss last week. Much appreciated :D

I hear you on the not calling it a diet, but you know what, when you think about it everybody has a diet. Some have a low fat/low cal one so that they can lose weight/get healthy, some have a diet of junk food etc. So really it's ok to call it a diet :D I know what you mean though, thinking of it as a lifestyle change, committing to healthy eating etc. So yes I can see where you would be disappointed that you ate that slice of cake. But, as I said in a previous post, in days gone past you would have eaten a lot more than that, so you still made a healthy choice. If you keep denying yourself a treat now and then you may end up resenting your diet and ending up having a huge binge. You know how the saying goes, a little bit of what you fancy does you good :D

Jill - oh yes my new meds have really helped me. I can't say I don't have depression, because I do, hence the meds, but I am not down all the time like I used to be. That as well as being able to stay out of bed is making life so much better for all of us. I am a nice, happy mum and wife now, not a moody so and so that my family had to tip toe around before for fear of me going of on a rant etc!!

WOW what a shocker the amount of money you have to pay if you want to keep a pet where you live. Still if you can afford it, which you will be able to when you pay off some debt, then I am sure you will love it when you get a kitten. It's still scandalous that you will have increased rent!!

How are things with you and your BF now? Still good I hope  Good on you for turning down the offer of pizza, I know how hard that is to do. I LOVE PIZZA :hun:

Vicki - hello and welcome back :D I am really sorry to hear that you have been having such a hard time of things in your personal life, and I am so PROUD of you for not hitting the food for comfort!!! You have come so far with your weight loss already, you are so wise not to let troubles in your life drive you back up the scales

I am no agony aunt or anything, and I don't know the full details of what's been going on with you and your BF. But the fact you told me that he is with some wench of course tells me that he has been/is being unfaithful. If I were you I would do what you are thinking of, dump him. Personally I think if a man has been unfaithful once he can do it again no matter how remorseful he is, and I would never have peace of mind whenever we were apart. BUT that's me. I know others who think that the love they feel for the 'cheater' is enough to forgive them and try to keep the relationship, and for some of them it works. It's just not for me. I hope that whatever you decide to do you will be alright

Angie - you know what? It is a pretty fabulous thought that when your ticker is showing the brilliant loss of 50 lbs, mine might be inching towards a 100 lbs loss. It seems so impossible, but I know it isn't, I am going to get there, and so are you!! Thanks for putting that thought in my head, it makes me smile!

Sassy - glad to hear that you think the work drama will be resolved. I bet you wish you could be a fly on the wall to watch your manager once he gets to the person he is on the warpath to :D

Have you tried the WATP DVD yet? I have an old video of it, but must admit I wasn't very impressed with it. Give me my Gazelle Rider any day

Melissa - how did your WI go, I hope you saw your -2 result or better :goodluck:

Oh I didn't like just some of your photos I liked them ALL, it's just that the ones I mentioned were my faves :D Can't wait to see the ones you take at the Cavalcade.

Misti - I definitely think that any weight gain you have will be muscular, or that stupid water weight. How can it be fat?? You are eating properly and exercising daily, it's definitely not fat. Don't be discouraged, focus on what you said about how you are in much smaller clothes now rather than what the scales say. I have said it before and I will say it again, give me an NSV over a scale one any day :D

Sharon - I enjoyed seeing the pics of Steve and the boys :D He's quite the looker, now if only he could be nicer and stop the name calling I would be most impressed ;)

Am still dying to see the photos of you with red hair, how much longer are you going to keep us in suspense

It's really too hot to do much today isn't it? I was going to do my ironing when I descaled it, but phew, no way. Am much happier in front of my air cooler :D Time enough for housework when the weather cools down which it is supposed to be doing towards the end of the week.

Okie dokie, think I am going to get some exercising done now before it gets much hotter, if I put the fan on me I can cope  Take care all and bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

WELL, at the speed this thread travels, I see that I missed DOLPHIN GIRLS recent post. I'll go back and review, but just wanted to say WELCOME BACK VICKI! I missed you while you were gone.

Either the heat or the meds for this Bronchitis is causing me to retain every drop I drink, so the scale may not be user friendly for a while, but at least I know what it is. One way or another, I WILL have to go potty again SOME day, and then things will go back to normal. I just don't wanna be sick anymore!!!

Have a lovely day chickies!

sweetbaby 07-18-2006 09:06 AM

Hi EVERYONE!! Gosh it is so nice to meet everyone on here. I have had a great time getting to know some of you....please IM if you need support!! I am at alison43229 on yahoo.

Well I weighed in on sunday and lost 3.8 Pounds, for a grand total of 17.4 pounds. I have been doing this now for 4 weeks on WW, and I have to tell you I feel so much better, I don't have the belly aches or feel so slugish. They say that it takes 21 days to get into a habit(or to train yourself) I have been really good.....I hope I have accomplished that!! lol

I have been very good and just saying NO! to the different foods I have been encountering lately, but I get so much support from this board that it makes me feel proud and good when I can come back here and share it!! So THANK YOU!!!!!

I hope EVERYONE does good this week....weither you stay on track, OP, lose weight or lose inches, or just for being here and putting in the effort!!!

Thanks again!!!!

Rkrs – I think it helps to remember that BEFORE you would easily have eaten MORE cake! And, if you feel you didn’t want to eat the cake, try to figure out why you did it so you can avoid that problem in the future. I’m a big believer in being reflective about our “mistakes” and not beating ourselves up about them, but learning from them.

Jill -- Keep the faith with the stairs. A good friend of mine regularly walks up 4 floors at work. She says she still gets winded at the top BUT, has noticed her recovery time is much lower! Maybe that’s something else to focus on.

I do the same thing with you with the groceries. Maybe it’s from all my years of apt living, but I try to bring as many groceries in one trip as possible! I will say that weight lifting seems to have improved my abilities there…

And YAY on the cooking instead of pizza!!! That’s a great NSV!!

Vicki – GOOD TO SEE YOU!!! Regarding your current situation, I know no details, but all I can advise is to listen to your heart, and try not to let your fear of the unknown make a decision for you.

You have come so far! I want to be the first to welcome you to ONEDERLAND, WHEN (not IF) you get here!!!!!

Misti – Pay no attention to the scale!!!!!! You know that scale is , right? It is trying to make you give up! Maybe you are retaining water from the eating out??? No matter what the reason, remember your goals are not tied to the scale but to your abilities. And you set no timeline. You are getting smaller, you can do more. That’s what’s important – not some stupid number on a stupid  scale. You are kicking FFM butt and you know it!!

I am experimenting with baking again – I’m going to try some muffin recipes to try to give us some less processed snacking options and maybe some more protein! Last night I also made a huge batch of turkey chili… so I didn’t get in much exercise. Oh well, I guess I can’t do it all, huh?

Heather 07-18-2006 10:48 AM

Old goals and Bride of Darth Vador

I just found this list of goals that I'd written last year when I was starting this journey. I always look at goals starting now, rather than looking back, so this is a different perspective for me...

2005 - Some of my important goals are:
I want to be able to wear my wedding ring again. - Yup, no problem anymore:D
To break the first 00 - Yup, did it late last year.:D
To fit into my wedding dress - Not quite, but getting close, just another 10-15 pounds.:halffull:
To walk my treadmill for a full half hour without a heart attack - Yeah, I can do that... not that I HAVE lately :^:
To ride my old horse again before it's too late - It's too late.
To be able to climb the mountain to see the Timpanogo caves in Utah -Haven't had the chance, but I'd try it now..:crossed:
To pass my DOT physical in October without high blood pressure - YES! It was 128/76!
To look way better at holiday time, when I have to smile at my mean, hateful, skinny step-daughter -
- - - Well, there's always another holiday coming, and I probably have to go to her wedding next May  ... It'll be like smiling at Darth Vador, only in white lace. :lol3: HA - Bride of Vador - HAHA!!! :lol3:
To break the second 00 - Definately still a goal! WYLLENN just drew the line in the sand... again! :lifter:
To ride my new horse next spring, instead of watching someone else - OK, missed spring. How 'bout this fall instead? ;)
To be able to wear dresses again, without fat ankles - Nope, not yet. Still got more than my share of ankles.:(
To go to job interviews with confidence, instead of feeling like I should be apologizing Nope, cuz I still got more than my share of ankles.:(

So there's my last year in retrospect. Not all in the win column, not all in the loss column. I guess I'm still a work in progress. :D
(Still chuckling over Darth Vador in a wedding veil -HAHAHA - you'd have to know her to appreciate this hahahahahah!)

Heather 07-18-2006 02:57 PM

Sharon -- I think I definitely look more "normal" but in the side views you can still see that I have some losing to do to not be obese... I'm not complaining though...

Valerie -- That's a great list. I look at your responses and see a lot of progress! Commend yourself for that! You could have come back and said no to everything ,so YAY for you!!!!

Vilandra485 07-18-2006 03:12 PM

NoLifeWithoutHorses - Bride of Vador - quite an image, lol.

Ammi - Oh, thank you! Glad you liked them! :)

wyllenn - Congrats on One-Derland! :carrot: And your comparison pics are awesome!! Keep up the great work! :)

Afternoon Ladies - So, got my weigh-in done....I was -3!!! :carrot: :cb: :carrot: I'm sitting pretty at 335 now....down 21.5 pounds in my first 9 weeks. :) So, technically my average weekly weight loss is more than my goal - yay! Although I know my losses will slow...but I'm liking my consistency for now! :) Had to add 10 pounds onto my ticker - SMALL goals - but I already broke into the new 10 pounds, yay. :D My next mini goal is approaching - it's to lose 25 pounds - I think I should keep track of them. :) Anyways, still organizing pictures for selling, lol, lots of work! :) But hopefully I will still be able to get out and do SOMETHING today. Might go get a FEW new pictures - that I took yesterday - developed...maybe. :)
Have a good one everybody, and stay OP chickies!!

Melissa

jillybean720 07-18-2006 03:14 PM

Valerie--the only one of any of your goals I question is the last one...what do your ankles have to do with a job interview? Perhaps I'm missing something, but do your interviewers inspect your ankles? Or is just a matter of self-confidence?

Ammi--Jeff and I are doing VERY well, thanks for asking :) For so long (especially since we moved in together), I was feeling jealous, paranoid, inadequate...I know you heard me blab about all that stuff for months :p Well, we had big blow-out argument a few months ago that ended well--cleared up my anxiety/jealousy/paranoia. However, I was still basically living my life around him, which was not healthy. I would whine for him to sit with me to watch tv instead of sitting at his computer, complain when he wouldn't go to the store with me, pout when he spent too much time doing basically anything without me. A couple months ago, it was like I woke up from a foggy daze. I decided to focus on me. I'm a big girl and extremely independent--I don't know how I got so caught up in worrying about him and not myself. Now, I do things for me. If he's on the computer, then I take the opportunity to watch a girly movie he wouldn't want to watch anyway. If he doesn't go to the store with me, so what--I'm fully capable of shopping by myself. I am focusing on me--on my health, my independence, and my future. I know I want to move back to the Va Beach area in a few years, but he's not sure he wants to live there. Well, after months of worrying that he won't want to move with me in the future, I decided to just live life, do what I can while I'm here in the DC area, and when the time comes, he can come with me or not--we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, it's healthier living (foods/exercise), career advancement (I start my new job Monday), and saving money (we decided we will sign a 2-year lease on our apartment when our current one runs out in October so we don't have to worry about moving or increasing rent for at least another 2 years). Things are going fabulously--I think he even misses me being so needy because he does nice things for me more frequently and often voluntarily comes to watch movies with me instead of playing games on his computer. Oh, and he waits for me before going to bed even when he's tired--we always go to bed together

wyllenn--yeah, I definitely take all the groceries in one trip. It's quite a hike from the parking lot to our apartment...we have to walk to the building, through the entire parking garage (which costs $175 a month or something ridiculous, which is why we park out in the lot instead), through the "lower lobby," and over to the elevators, then all the way to the next-to-last apartment at the end of the hall. If I don't get everything in one trip, then something is staying behind until the next time I need to go somewhere in the car :dizzy:

sharon--I've made the same comparison...I could pop out 10 kids and still pay the same amount of rent, but if I get a cat, they'll charge me more! Insane, but it is normal around here. I have yet to find an apartment around here that does not charge extra rent for cats (or dogs, if allowed).

Misti--wow, salad without dressing...I couldn't do it :p Excellent job in being strong despite the temptations of the restaurant, though!

I'm still kickin' away--got my oil changed this morning, so my car is happy. I'm baking a cookie pizza (giant sugar cookie with cream cheese spread and fresh fruit on top) for my old co-workers whom I will visit tomorrow. I briefly considered making a small one for me and Jeff as a snack for tonight, then decided against it and used all the dough for the big one. These little itty bitty NSVs have got to start adding up soon

NotTheCheat 07-18-2006 04:01 PM

I have been trying to get 5 minutes all day to come on and post. Work has been so busy. I'm an accountant not an IT person :censored:! It just seems like everyone is having problems and they are all coming to me.

I am SO sore today after my first day back at the gym yesterday, but it feels good knowing it is from having done something. I have a check up with my gyn tonight (post-procedure check in), so I have to leave work a bit early to get there. I will have to skip the gym, but I can do my weight training stuff at home.

Ammi - I am using my jealously over how fabulously you are doing to spur me on (the only use for jealousy). You are just so :flame: right now.

Wyllen - your new pics look so great!!!

Crock - You too! You are looking fantastic.

Sharon
- Thanks for posting pics of your family and I loved seeing your pics on the horse. That is something I definitely want to do again someday. I did it once when I was young (in England in fact) and have always used my weight as an excuse not to try again.

Melissa - You can already see a difference in your pics! Way to go and keep clicking (both pics and with your lifestyle).

Angie - It is always great to put a face to a name (although I liked your cat pic too).

I am hoping to get some computer time tonight after I get home - we'll see.

sweetbaby 07-18-2006 04:40 PM

Good Evening Ladies!

Good Evening Ladies!

Ammi - Yes I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at work when my manager gives it to the person he's on the warpath about! No I haven't tried the WATP DVD yet. It's not exactly that, it's kind of a "generic" one, but the same concept. But I want to try it out.........

Allison - I was thinking about trying WW. Is it really easy to stick too? I need something that is easy to do that I can stick too. ;)

I Hope everybody has a great evening! We are going to our friends house tonight. I will be meeting the wife of our friend for the 1st time. A bit nervous about that. Hub has met her already and they have talked on the phone about her hubby's bday present. I get so nervous meeting new people, I'm always concerned how they will react when they see me. (being overweight and all) Especially since our friend has told us that his wife is very critical of people. So that makes me even more nervous. But I know its good to meet new people and so what if she doesn't like me, won't be the first person and definately won't be the last! lol. I just have an extremely hard time keeping women as friends, for some reason. I don't understand it, I don't think I'm that awful of a person, I mean I do have lots of guys as friends. I'm not a girly girl, so maybe that is why. I don't get into all the girly crap, but I do enjoy a few female things once in a while, just not to the extreme that some women take it. (hopes this makes sense and doesn't offend anybody?) I've just never been a "Girly girl". I used to fix my hair and do the make up thing in HS/early 20's, but that was about as "girly" as I got.

Anywho, I will let ya all know how it goes tonight, wish me luck! :^:

Lilion 07-18-2006 05:13 PM

Lilion just popp'n in! I'm alive, well, and still fat - but working on it! Had to make one little comment -

Wyllenn! :bravo: :woo: Way to GO!!! Hope I see you someday soon in Onederland!

Valerie - Are you drinking plenty? I wonder if it's a myth I have heard that drinking water when it's hot helps to stop you bloating? Being unwell in this heat cant be very nice for you. Let's hope the meds will work soon.

I appreciated seeing your list of goals from a year ago. You must feel great knowing that you have achieved so many of them. I will have to sit down and make a list for myself.

Hmm, I gather your step daughter isn't the most wonderful one you could have hoped for  Loved your darth vader comment, you have a fab sense of humour

Alison - :bravo: :cheer: :cp: well done on the 3.8 lbs lost, you are really doing brilliantly well. It's so wonderful to see the lbs coming off isn't it!

I will add you to my yahoo messenger, our time difference might not give us much opportunity to chat, but I will keep an eye out for you. My name on yahoo is ammi32.

That's a beautiful photo of you and your husband/BF

Heather - I love your new avatar photo, you look great in it, and orange really suits you! I went to see your progress pics and all I can say is WOW, you look so different than before, and as somebody else said on that forum, you can see your collar bone!!!

How did your baking go? I often think of making some healthy muffins or something, but I am at a stage where I think I still couldn't stop at one. Maybe it's something I will try after I reach 100 lbs lost :D

Annie - thanks for the congrats on my 5 lbs lost. I look forward to be giving you a big :bravo: on a loss for you this week

By the way, I have watched two episodes of Ghost Whisperer now and both times I have been in tears. It's definitely one of those shows

Crock - did you get to have Austin come over today? Who got to be the Hulk if you did

Sharon - what salad do you eat? I only like the fattening stuff like coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad etc. Though I will eat lettuce and cucumber in sandwiches. I found a few recipes for low fat coleslaw, but was shocked at the amount of ingredients in them. All types of vinegar, different mustards, loads of seeds, even yogurt!! There I was thinking it was just cabbage, carrot, onion and mayo

Mel - yoohoo where are you? Are you still rushed off your feet? Speaking of which, have you had chance to go to the docs about your heel yet?

Melissa - :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: well done on another 3 lbs lost :bravo: All that walking you are doing is definitely paying off :D

Jill - I am very pleased to hear that you and Jeff are doing so well. It's a shame that it had to come to a big argument first. But it cleared the air and you are happy now which makes me very pleased

Well done on yet another NSV with food, not making that smaller cookie pizza for you and Jeff to share. Making decisions like that is what is going to help you get those lbs off :bravo:

Nancy - you have lost more weight than me, so definitely no need to be jealous

Sorry you are sore after your first day back at the gym. I bet it's a beautiful soreness though because you are able to work out again :bravo:

Sassy - I know you asked Alison, but just so you know, I find WW the best diet there is. It's not regimented, you can eat whatever you want provided you stay within your point range, so you never feel like you are missing out on anything. I am never hungry, and so far I am losing weight well on WW. I definitely would recommend it!

I hope you have a good time at the friends house, and don't worry too much about meeting that woman for the first time. So what that you are overweight, you are still a friendly lovely person, and if that woman cares too much about what you look like rather than your personality, well I don't like her, and you probably won't either  So it doesn't matter so much if she doesn't like you :goodluck: anyway :D

I used to have a friend who had a LOT of male friends, she just got on better with them than women. A lot of women hated her because they were jealous, and threatened at how well she got on with men, so maybe that's why you find you don't keep your female friends for too long. As I told my friend though, it's their loss!!

Lilion - glad that you popped in!

Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Jill -- That's a great NSV about not baking the cookie!

Lilion -- WHEN you get to ONEDERLAND, I will be here to cheer you on!! :)

Ammi -- The muffins came out good. Hubby, surprisingly, liked them too! I know exactly what you mean about baking and not eating them all. That is one of the big reason I haven't baked for a long time. I don't think I'll be baking cookies any time soon, but so far so good with the muffins! I'm hoping to make some different ones later this week...

dogpal 07-18-2006 06:28 PM

Crock: I'm with Wyllen, You are shrinking to tiny girl.

Val: Thanks for posting your goals. I love that you have accomplished so many of them. I think you are doing terrific. Feel better soon.

Vilandra: Wow. Congrats on -21.5

Jillybean: Welcome back. So good to see you back and see that you and Jeff are doing well.

Nancy: I am so sorry that I was MIA on Saturday so I forgot your Birthday. Happy Birthday to you my dear. I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Sassy: I am shy to meet my hubby's friends too. I hope you have a wonderful time and that she is kind to you and becomes a good friend.

Lilion: I know you will be in onderland before too long! Nice to see you here .

Ammi: Glad that you are enjoying Ghost Whisperer. You have to watch the finally when it comes on now.

Blessings to you all and take care,
Annie

Hello Ladies - Thank you to all of you who said such nice and encouraging things - it helps to hear that what I'm doing IS good...not just me thinking it's an okay attempt at weight loss. :) Went up to the mall with DH before his work to get a sub for lunch...he had about 6 minutes to each 1/2 his sandwich before running off to work a block from there, lol, so I finished my lunch there then went to get 14 more pics developed, lol! I looked over my pictures, and with my $2.25 for the bus in my wallet I starting walking out of the store....across the parking lot....down the road....through the trail....about 2 miles later arrived at home - on foot, 2 miles, 40 minutes non stop!! :carrot: I never thought my legs would ever be my main mode of transportation!! :D As long as it's not going to "upper" (up that jumbo killer hill) in 90 degree weather, then I will walk it! I've walked home I think 3 of the last 4 mall trips! :) I put in my earbuds to my MP3 player and just DO IT! :D It seems like such a silly cliche, but I've seen so much more on foot than I ever knew was in my town! It's got some insane views...and since I've been walking everywhere to take my pictures I've just recently seen them. :) Well, DH works until late tonight, so I'm on my own organizing my pictures and all that. So, I need to go get started on that now, lol! :)
Have a good one everybody, and stay OP chickies!!!

Melissa

sassy--I sooooo hear you on not being a girly girl. Whenever I ask for suggestions about how to reward myself for my progress without using food, I get examples like get a manicure, get highlights, get a pedicure, have a spa day, take a nice bubble bath, buy some new makeup, etc., but I just don't get into that stuff. I wear makeup maybe 5 times a year. I refuse to do any sort of coloring on my hair because I know I won't keep up with it :p I guess I'm weird, but that sort of stuff just makes me feel kinda fake instead of nice.

Lilion--hello! :D

dogpal--it's good to be back (although I'm still having trouble keeping up with the threads changing every 30ish posts, so I'll probably disappear again once I go back to work full time next week and can no longer keep up :dizzy: ).

I ate a DINNER SALAD!!! Which consisted of lettuce, sliced tomatoes, a few pieces of pineapple and NO dressing! While everyone else was eating big old Thai dinners which I LOVE! Okay so I did go back to work and eat some yogurt! :)

Actually though you are not far off... I did eat Mongolian takeout this weekend and I always put soy sauce (low sodium but quite a bit) on it and I have noticed that when I eat that I always temporarily gain weight. Oh and yah I gained the weight BEFORE we went out and I ate the salad so perhaps okay okay okay just perhaps I am overreacting.

But Sassy, ya LOL I can't bum the rest of you out so will have to clean up my act! :) Besides those mean old 3 pounds did go away again today. Hopefully some more will join them soon.

You are all doing great!!!! Thanks for the encouragement and I will try to

Melissa... can't wait to see your photos!!!!!

Heather 07-18-2006 10:21 PM

Misti -- Please don't think you have to be cheerful always! I just didn't want you to be defeated -- which you sounded earlier. It's unlike you to be defeated like that. Course, if you can't come here and complain, where can you go? Sorry for the extra pressure!! :)

Misti in Seattle 07-18-2006 11:19 PM

((((Heather)))))

This is the ONE thread here where I know I can post the discouraging moments and not be "come down on" for it. :) And I KNOW I will get encouragement here which is why I feel free to say it. :)

I do work hard at keeping "up" and making this FUN actually... LOL may as well! And don't apologize for the pressure... LOL I was joking in my last message!

Oh and I WANT you to kick my butt :kickbutt: if I need it LOL. And I didn't take your message as "pressure" -- just caring and kindness, like with everyone in this thread!!!

Just a fly by post in between shopping visits.

The competition is online now. You go to the site I put up before: www.slimmingmag.com.au
Then you look under "Diet" and "Slimmer of the Year". I am entrant number 5, for those who may have forgotten.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look, and hopefully vote. I think it is even letting you vote multiple times, as it seemed to accept two votes from me.

They say that you can get a short bio and larger pics if you click on the current pic, but I don't get a link when I do that. Not sure what is up there.

I got another phone call from the editor yesterday and I'll post later with what she said.

Catch you all soon.

Take care,

Zelma

Vilandra485 07-19-2006 01:11 AM

"Thanks for voting for your favourite Slimmer of the Year, your vote was successfully submitted." ;)

Even though I'm bias, you deserve to win. Good luck! :) I also asked my DH to look over the finalists - he didn't know what it was for - and he said in his opinion that Zelma should win! :D

Hi, please can I join you?

Hello all,
I gave up work at the end of last yr and weighed myself in January 06, I weighed in at 386lb. I joined a gym Feb and have lost 41lb so far I weighed in at 345lb about 6 weeks ago, since then I haven't been back on the scales but I have done less exercise over the past 6 weeks than usual due to other commitments so I am staying off the scales for a while. I have given up work to concentrat on losing weight. I try to go to the gym and swimming every day if i don't manage both I usually do one or the other. I am determind to lose all the extra weight and would like to lose another 112lb within 12 months but we'll have to see how it goes. I am determined to lose the weight either way and get down to around 147lb.

ZedAus 07-19-2006 03:23 AM

Melissa - Thank you! And please give your husband a big hug from me.

I kinda had REALLY big hopes before I saw the other contestants. All of them did really well, but I have a feeling that I have a bit of competition from a couple of the others. Still, I have my fingers crossed that I will at least make it to the final 4, which includes 3 runners-up and a winner.

When the editor called the other day she wanted to make sure that I would be available on a couple of dates in case I make it further. The first two days were to fly to Sydney for a makeup/hair/clothing makeover and photo shoot, as well as interviews. The second date was for the winner's luncheon, which is also in Sydney. Now, you wouldn't believe my luck, but I only have two things booked for the next 10 years!!!! and more!!! The first is my gastroscopy/colonoscopy, which is the same time as the first Sydney visit and the second is my gyno appointment, which I am pretty sure is on the same day as the second Sydney visit. I am currently trying to call to confirm that second date, as I wrote it down quickly when she called and I have Tues 18th, which I thought was for August, but there isn't a Tuesday the 18th of August, so I have to find out if it is supposed to be September, but I think that will be a little late for the announcement of the winner.

So... I've called the colonoscopy people and tentatively booked a new appointment for that and I may soon be calling the gyno to change THAT appointment. I tell you, these things always happen to me. This competition is too important for me to miss out on though, so I didn't want to say that I couldn't make the dates. I also agreed to enter into this sort of thing when I entered the competition, so I don't think I could say 'no' anyway.

I am not sure how many votes I'll be able to get in before next week, but the editor said she'd call me next week to let me know if I am in the final 4, so I have a feeling that they have a pretty good idea of who they are going to choose, without the Internet voting results. She did say that the online votes were simply one part of the whole selection 'thing'. Well, she probably worded it a lot better than that, but you get the idea.

I start back at school next week, but Monday is just a Professional Development day, so it will be fine to take a call then. I will have to let the principal know I may be answering my phone Tuesday as well if I haven't heard from them by then. I'm sure he won't mind, as he is very supportive of this. The kids will be thrilled for me. I suppose it won't matter if I have to go to Sydney the following week, as I already have the relief teacher booked. There are good points about this I suppose.

The editor also said that I should be hearing from their publicity guy (once again, she worded it better, but I can't remember the correct name for him) as he will want to get more information about what I've done and he will try to get me into some newspapers or other media over here. That will be wonderful, as I wanted to do something like that, but didn't know where to start. It will be good to have someone else organising that.

I did manage to make it onto the cover of the magazine, so that was a bit of a bonus. Not sure what difference that could make, but I thought it was good. Oh... forgot to say that I have already bought two copies of the magazine, from two different places, just so that I could show people that I was in the magazine. Silly, but fun. Oh... I also got to show LOTS of people my before and after pics this morning. Yesterday I picked up a holter monitor from the hospital to have my heart monitored over 24 hours. The doc wants to see that all is OK, seeing as I get palpitations now and then and have such a low resting heart rate. Well, yesterday I showed one girl my pics and she must have told people about them, because today everyone wanted to see them. It was great to have doctors and nurses ooohing and aahing over my photos. The doctor said that I could have my own TV show to let people know how to do this. I felt SO good after leaving those offices.

Well, that's about all of my news about the competition, and other guff, now I'll go back over the posts to do some individuals.

Take care,

Zelma

Hello Ladies---I guess this is just a quick post. I seem to be so busy lately getting myself an the kids ready for school for this semester. I just wanted to wish everyone a good day:)

jillybean720 07-19-2006 07:08 AM

heh, Zelma, I tried to vote twice, and this is the message I got the second time: We know it's an effort worthy of great applause but you can only vote once for your favourite slimmer!

eh, was worth a shot, right? ;)

rkrs6673 07-19-2006 07:32 AM

I have posted some pictures in the 300 picture page. Like I said I still have a hard time seeing a change. I went to school yesterday to register for classes and my teachers told me they could tell I was still moving in the right direction. In fact on teacher said as soon as she saw me "wow you have lost so much weight again" It did make me feel good. It seems people are finally able to see the change. It make me proud but still I wonder.....
