Default 300 + And Ready to Try Again.....#772

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Happy day today! Weighed in this morning and lost 2.2 lbs. The chinese food over the weekend did not create any big problems, Yeah!

So I am on track and I feel really happy, the sun is shining and I am doing well.

Hi there every one! I see we have had a pretty busy day on here. Thats great!

So far, my day has been really active. I entered my time shopping on FitDay and WOW! Shopping burns alot of calories! It didn't help that I shopped the malls for 2.5 hrs I am trying to do some more of my christmas shopping before I go back to work. I also went 1.5 miles on the track today. Then it started raining again! It seems like it has been raining for weeks now! I am not going to let it stop me anymore though. I went and bought I bright yellow rain poncho today and I even got one for BaileyBeagle! Won't we be a sight! I just hope it doesn't make me look too much like Big Bird from Sesame Street I so far did 20 min on my bike and I am going to get ready for AquaFit soon. I would really like to stay home tonight. My knees are starting to get sore from all the activity, but onward we shall march! I will just have to ice them when I get home.

SueMarie ~ I bounce my calories around too. The book that I am reading suggests it in order to stay out of famine mode. My old roomate gained 85lbs when she was on Depo, then ended up getting pregnant anyways Its been 4 years and she is still trying to lose it.

Well looking at the time, I must run. The pool awaits! Hope you all had great days and made great choices.

Talking

Hello Ladies!

Just an Old Hen dropping by to say "Hi!" I've not posted here much, but do keep tabs on you all and lurk about reading all your posts. I don't know hardly any of you any more it seems though. What a big, active group - and you are all doing so well! A big to those of you showing losses this week! Keep up the good work!

Julee: Wow! 75 lbs gone! Very impressive! You are sure setting a good examples for the new folks! I've been stuck in the 260's so long now that I had a major melt down and took a diet break last weekend. Ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Now next Friday we'll see if any damage was done.

Sue: Hang in there. Hope the BC pills don't do anything "bad" to the weight. They never bothered me...but then again I had to stop depo because instead of stopping my periods, I just had one all the time. (The record was 7 weeks without a break! )

With Halloween around the corner, thought I'd let you all know my trick for getting through the holiday candyfest. It's simple: I only buy candy I don't really like. I'm a chocolate fiend - I can't be around it without eating it - so I buy Jolly Ranchers, which I dislike, nerds, sour skittles and those nasty peanut-butter things in the orange and black wrappers . I get enough candy snitching out of my kids bag...don't need it around the house before the 31st too!

Hi Ladies!

How are you all doing today? Weighed in at LAWL and stayed the same -
I'm not too upset though because I know I can't lose every single time I go in. This was the first time I didn't have a loss, so it was disappointing, but I'll be hanging in for the long haul!!

Ammi: Are you feeling any better? I know around here our allergies are awful. I suppose you are going into spring as we are going into fall? Someone on another list made the siggy for me - I'm just not too talented with computer stuff! LAWL stands for LA Weight Loss and is similar to WW, but without so many choices. You mainly stick with proteins, starch, fruits, veggies and dairy and everything is a certain portion. Nothing is unlimited amounts - it works well for me because I found too many ways to cheat on WW and absolutely can't diet on my own for anything!

WYLLENN: Hamlet and Othello are so cute! Our other 2 fur babies are mutts and one is 65-70 pounds - she thinks she is Taz's (the pug) mommy and licks her ears all the time! The problem is she gets them sore sometimes!

CONGRATS on everyone's great losses! WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Going to Lose 200 – OOH! Yeah I can relate with your friend. I gained about 70-80lbs on depo as well… supersucked! Mind if I ask what book it is you read? Could always use a little more inspiration

Lilion - 7 weeks holy cow! Have not experienced that, but man I have cramps from HECK! I was on bc a while ago, before I went on depo… I don’t remember if I had any weight gain with them. I had to go onto depo because I kept forgetting to take the pill. I was going to school full time and worked graveyard at the casino.. ICKY!

Mom2fivesweeties – good for you for staying positive!

It’s cold out here today. We’ve had the last two days. A little bit of flooding in the backyard and the neighbors tree snapped and a huge branch fell over onto ourside. I’m so glad it didn’t take out the brick wall and even more glad that it didn’t fall on the house! It landedabout 5 feet from the back of the house, which is our bedroom heheh. Gonna send James over to talk to the neighbor about it.

Well ladies... I got a 92% on my midterm for my cultures class. I'm happy with that class was cancelled so I'm at home now an I'm going to get dinner started.

I have two questions for everyone....

1) how do you get that stale air smell out of your house?? It's driving me nuts! I air the house out, clean out my ionic breeze, and yet it still seems to go back to a stale smell after a while. I have pets, but it's not like a pet smell... I dunno how to explain it...

2) My next question is... I was looking at walmarts website because I have been wanting to get a digital scale and body fat analyzer for a while now. i've run into a dilemma. I found a digital scale that goes up to 380lbs for 54 bucks and a separate hand held body fat analyzer for 22 bucks. Then I found another scale that is both digital and body fat analyzer all in one. The dilemma is.... it only weighs up to 350lbs. I currently weigh 355lbs. What would you all do? I'm scare at the rate that I'm going that I'll never get below 350... and I know that's not thinking positive... but at the rate I been going... I just dunno what to think...

Thanks ladies!
Sue...

Sue -- As far as a stale smell in your home. I use febreeze air freshener and Lysol green apple air freshener. I love Yankee Candles....those always make my house smell good.

I think you should go for the scale that only goes up to 350 pounds....girl you know you are only 7 pounds away from being able to use it. You can do it. Use that as a goal.....get the scale.

You know this past week was that time of the month (TOM) and it's finally over with. I can't believe I didn't give in to any cravings....if I wanted something sweet I ate sugar free jello pudding and that served the purpose. It's been 4 weeks yesterday since I started my new healthy lifestyle and I haven't given in once....I am so proud of myself....I actually thought that maybe it is time to have a cheat day but I am to the point now where I don't want one. Losing weight feels too good to cheat. Now I know I will cheat sometimes here and there but not anytime soon....maybe Thanksgiving. Noting feels better than to notice a weight loss or some clothes fitting better or just having more energy and feeling good about yourself. Keep it up girls!!!

I started my day at PT -- wowsa do they stretch my back and hip. It feels great when I leave, but sometimes sore at the end of the day. Last week the therapist did something that really helped my coccyx -- yay! I can lie down again!

SueMarie -- I'm a psych prof at a college -- not the "couch" kind! I teach intro, research design, cognitive, and my "areas" -- social and cultural psych! Teaching is as much work as being a student, but with a LOT more control!! What will you be teaching (grade)

As for calorie counting, I bounce around too. I try to average 2000/day and have been quite successful. I feel like I have tons of flexibility this way... as long as my average is okay.

Vicki -- Yay you for getting under 300 pounds! Great milestone! I love to hear that this (whatever this is we're doing) works!! Congrats to all the other "losers" too!

Brenda -- I've tried logging in shopping and other activities (like painting) in nutridiary before (which seems to use the same system as fitday), and I am suspicious of their numbers. It seems that 1/2 hour shopping burns the same calories as walking 2 mph for 30 min... and I think when I shop I stop more than when I walk!

Lori -- I was so sure other dog owners experienced the "ear lick" (hey! There's no smilie for that!)... I find it annoying, but so far so good on Othello's ears!

Lilion...how on earth are you?? I have missed you and your posting...stick with it..you did so well for so long...you can surely pick it up again when you feel ready!!!

Ah the BC discussion. I have had problems with my (chemicaly unregulated) periods since the day I first got them when I was 12. I went on BCP at 17 and never looked back. I was diagnosed with HBP not that long ago and sicne going on WW my BP is now back in control..but I am also on meds for it. Estrogen can very often raise your BP and can also make weight loss a little bit of a challenge. At my last Dr's appt. she decided that she wanted me off of estrogen altogether and wanted me to see an OB?GYN about getting an IUD. I was a littel freaked. Fortunately he disagreed with her recommendation for a myraid of reasons and thinks I am good to stay on the BCP since my diet and BP are now in control and since an IUD will probably bring bakc my bad periods. "Sometimes it's hard to be a woman..."

It's another Jewish holiday...which means more lunches and dinners at people's houses with no say-so in the menu. Today I decided to just let it ride and see what I could do on my own. So at the house where I ate, I had about a teaspoon of tunafish (whichI don't like anyways but wanted a spot of protein), a small slice of spinace quiche with the crust removed, a little but of hummus and some salad and fruit. Maybe it was the bag of apple slices I had ebfore I went, but I was actually totally satisfied off of what I ate. By evening I was a little punchy for not having my afternoin snack, but I was really pleased that I was able to eat in control and that I didn't make myself mental about it. Tomorrow is WI and what will be will be. I am PMS this week...so I'll just go in and suck it up. Dinner was from Whole Foods...broccoli with roasted garlic, a yummmmmy lentil and mushroom tagine (kind of a soup...nice and spicy), 2 slices of turkey breast and a WW cake. I think what I love the most is feeling so in control. I feel "fluent" enough in Core and low point foods to be able to make smart choices and not have to resort to junk and processed foods and I just feel really empowered.

Tomorrow is lunch again at someone's house..but I think it will be cold cuts...which means I can get a bunch of lettuce and turkey and have a sort of salad.

OOh and I discovered the yummiest treat. There is a company called "Just Tomatoes" that makes freeze dried fruits and vegetables. There are no other ingredients in them, so they are core. I have been using them in my yogurt and oatmeal in the mornings. I had tried the peaches and strawberries and now I have bought the bananas...oh wow! These are different from dried fruits because there is nothing else in them and no extra sweetneners. Yay for snacks!

I am lucky that I do not have to deal with Halloween. No kids come to my apartment and I probably won't be home anyways. I used to have some candy in the house but I dumped it after it had been sitting in a candy jar in the fridge forever and had gotten a little icky. So unless a kid wants carrots..they should stay away.

Have a good night...hopefully it won't rain AGAIN tomorrow. The weather has gotten so cold so fast and it's been wet and dismal. I love when it cools off..just not the process of getting there.

Andrea – Yeah, I think I’m going to do that…it’s a motivation. I sat here watching the biggest looser… and I was getting a little depressed. It’s so amazing what these people are doing.. they have more will power than me! I decided during a commercial break that I am going to get that scale as motivation! It will be a good thing for me. Good for you for not giving into your cravings!

Wyllenn – I’m looking at maybe 6th grade or higher… My first concentration was in Human Development. Which required me to take a lot of psych classes. I love Psychology!

Julee – congrats on getting that BP down!!

Mom2fivesweeties – I LOVE IT!!! Adorable puppies you got there!

Okie ladies.. I’m gonna do it… I’m buying that scale! Talk about motivation… 60 bucks of motivation

I’m off to finish up my calculus homework… ooh and to order a scale

Take care everyone!
Sue…

Hi Sue!

Thanks! Your pup is cute too! What kind is it and what is his/her name? Wow! Calculus! I graduated from college back in the 70's and I didn't have to do that one! Got a degree in elementary/special ed - I suppose the elem. kids MAY start doing Calculus one of these days!

WYLLENN: Where do you teach? I loved psych in college - with 5 kids, everyday is a new chance to use it!!
