Default Catching up

Sounds like everyone had a lot of fun at the Fling. Maybe one day I will get over there to meet you all!
BarbPA so sorry to hear your IVF didn't work this time. {{hugs}}

Life with me has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I've been getting a lot of pressure from a lot of different directions, after winning the medal, and feeling all the responsibility a bit much.
To add to that, the employment agency here wants me to change everything about myself - learn to 'power dress', cut my hair, gain an 'executive look'. Well that's not naturally me, and one of the reasons I like the multimedia field is that it includes info tech but people tend to be more casual.
Yesterday I realised that I have been rebelling, like a little kid, over the last couple of weeks - against the added responsibilities, and the attempts of everyone around me to change me. And part of it, if I am being totally truthful, is the fear of failing to rise to the challenge of changing my look, being this weight. *sigh*
Anyway, it's been school holidays for the last 2 weeks, and not holidays for uni teaching, so it's been a big balancing act, and lots of convenience foods, and no exercise.
Today's weigh-in saw me put on 1/2 lb over the last 4 weeks, so I cannot complain, but I do need to get my butt in gear, get back to exercise and healthy food. I am thinking of buying an exercise bike so I can exercise when I have time. That's of course if I can find one within my budget that will hold my weight.

Good morning chickies, How is everybody this morning? I saw the weather report from Detroit. WOW!, You really wished up some snow for them Barb! Just kidding. I bet you are tired of that joke by now. I won't say anymore about it

It sounds as if you all managed to have a blast in spite of the weird weather.

Leanne, isn't it strange how that inner child will rebel at times? I know mine does! Just let someone tell me I can't do something and that is the very thing I will do. Do you think we will ever outgrow that?

Terri, stepping on the scale again this morning didn't help. SIGGGGH! I don't think I will do the 2x2 this time around and see if it is just a matter of pressure that I am putting on myself to lose that 2#s. I think I am programmed for failure! It is all in the mind.

Here is wishing you all an OP day Iwillbe

Good morning friends. Sorry I started the new thread but did not post. Something came up and I had to leave unexpectedly.

Now I don't remember a thing from the last thread except that Susie came back to post. Good for you Susie... and even better for us.

Leanne... I have missed you. Sorry to hear about all the pressure you are recieving. My daughter lived a similar situation. She was awarded this big fellowship for graduate school .... but did not know if she wanted to continue school after her Masters. She caved into the pressure from the professors and the "need to please" others. Three months later... made the decision to join the work force instead and has never regretted it. We all have different paths to follow... the trick is to figure out which path is yours. Good luck.
I am just glad to see you back with us.

I willbe... I don't know if I will ever grow out of rebellion. LOL I am a very easy going gal ... until ... LOL.

Terri ... I used my exercise grips last night. You said that counted.

Okay... I have got to run. I need to get myself dressed and out to meet a couple of friends for lunch. I will soon be heading back home and to my "real life". I have to take advantage of my "fun life" here in Michigan while I still can.

Hey.. I just found a new smilie.... Listen up...

IWIllBe, I know how you feel...I lost like three or four pounds that first week, then I got on the scale at the beginning of this week and I had GAINED weight..I think it might be water retention though...so I've decided not to get weighed until the next 2X2 Challenge because it's just too heartbreaking.

Which reminds me...don't we have another 2X2 Challeng to sign up for?

Well, I am all sweaty from my workout so I should go take a shower...

Meliss - Feel free to start the roll call anytime. For that matter, if anyone has ideas for motivation or whatever, feel free to share.

Good morning, everyone! I apologize for not going back to the last thread to do replies. No time this morning so I'll just start from here.

Thanks to everyone who kept the thread going while a few of us were AWOL.

Congrats to everyone who lost pounds!

[[[HUGS]]] to everyone who needs them!

Leanne: It is great to have you back. I wondered what happened to you. I'm sorry that your life is so pressured. I agree with 2cute, find the path that's right for YOU. YOU have to be happy in what you're doing. YOU have the family to raise by yourself. YOU are the one that will have to juggle whatever it is you choose to do. Don't let others try and decide that for you. [[[hugs]]]

Iwillbe: Ok, given your last post, I'm going to try to help you out. YOU cannot lose any weight. It is impossible for you to lose any weight. You just can't do it!!! There, do you think that will help?

BarbPA: Special [[[hugs]]] to you. I'm so sorry the IVF didn't work for you guys. I was really praying that this would be it. We missed you this weekend. [[[hugs]]]

Melissa: Yes, it is time for a new 2x2. You could have started the roll call.

2 x 2 Challenge - April 25th to May 9th

For those of you that might not have seen it, Suzanne started a thread asking an exercise question for the book she and Jennifer are writing. I stickied it to make sure that it was near the top. Stop over there if you feel inclined.

All of you new folks, come out of hiding. That's the only way we'll get to know you.

Ok, friends, I am off and running. Today will be a busy day. See you all later. Love ya bunches.

Wink Huhhhh??

Thin, I could just kiss you! Honest!! LOL! That just might do the trick.

Meliss, I don't even have the TOM as an excuse for my weight gain. SOB! I only have my inability to stick to program on weekends. That is the area I am going to work on now. GRRRRR! We can do this!

2cute, I wondered what happened to your post. I looked and you had only opened the thread. I was too lazy to open the other thread to read what was said on there.

Hey all of you AWOLS come on back. If you aren't posting because you aren't doing well OP, just take a look at ME. Have no fear, Thin will inspire you!

See Ya! Iwillbe

Good Morning Ladies!

Well, I might as well get this out of the way:

2 x 2 Challenge - April 25th to May 9th

Lilion

Leanne: Good to see you again! I understand how much pressure gets put on you after school. Take a breath and de-stress...It'll all work out in due time.

I have nothing new to add today. I'm still so TIRED I just can't seem to get enough sleep! DH and I constantly try to go to bed early, but we never seem to do it. This weekend was really bad, up past 1 a.m. both nights and then sleeping until 10 or later. Bad, I know, but now I'm paying for it. We really need to exercise, but I just don't have the energy for that either.

Well, I'm off to find some breakfast. Overslept this morning...got up at 7:15 and made it to work by 8 after taking the kid to school! (I am QUEEN of the five-minute shower!)

Later ladies!

Good morning ladies, just wanted to check in. I have been pretty good on plan for eating, but exercise just hasnt been happening. I try not to make excuses, but life just keeps getting in the way. Had a really bad headache last night and just could not lift my head of the pillow. But tonight I am taking the phone off the hook, and I am going to turn on a movie and get my butt on the elliptical for a bit. Then I am going to take all my work pants that are too big and take them in some...now that is such a good feeling to have

Anyways...

Good morning everyone. Unfortunately I did not exercise like I said I would yesterday. I did good with my food and water though , and today is another day and another opportunity to exercise.

Went to my doctor today and she is getting me a referral to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. How much does it weigh and will its removal help me show a loss on the scale!

Terri: Thanks for the hugs. I wish things were different with regards to the infertility, however, I am thankful that I was blessed with Andrew, so if things don't work out for #2, I still have my little boy, and will just spoil him even more.

2Cute: I am back at least until I go back to work, then we will see...

Lilion: I feel you. I have been so tired lately as well. I could probably get 12 hours sleep and still feel tired. I think I need to exercise more.

Regarding the discussion on rebellion, I definitely rebel when the doctor's tell me that I NEED to lose weight. I sometimes just want to tell them to shut up and that I already know that I need to lose weight. Them telling me, just makes me want to eat more.

Well the rest of the day consists of lunch with friends, then laundry and a ride on my exercise bike.

Have a great day!

Susie

Leanne-I have an interesting perspective on what you are going through. Out of law school I went to work for a church organization that was pretty much a pitty job because I couldn't get interviews at my size. It was a bit like an arranged marriage. It was a very disfunctional place, so I fit right in. About a year after going to work there, they got a huge government grant. My job took on a lot of public speaking and publicity. They shipped me off to a makeover specialist. I got a new wardrobe designed for my size and everything. It made me feel much better about myself, and actually helped ease the pressure I was feeling. What to wear and how I looked was one less thing I had to worry about. It actually gave me the self esteem to lose weight. That time I almost got down to goal weight. I didn't have a single hard feeling about give away my nearly new wardrobe. It was the closest I ever came in my life to keeping my weight off. The disfunctionalness of the organization caught up to me a few years later, and I started to regain. I think that Dr. Phil is right when he says to keep off weight, you have to feel like you deserve it. You do deserve a new start, and you can survive this. Don't look on it as people trying to change you. Look on it as a beautiful butterfly chosing to shed her cocoon.

Since this is Tuesday, I'm going to dig out my clippings for a tip of the day. For those of you who suffer from arthritis like I do, here are some anti-inflammatory items you can add to your diet. First switch from vegetable oils to olive oil or canola oil and eat fish two or three times a week. Increasing your intake of these Omega 3 and 6 oils can really help. Second, start using tumeric. That is the major component of most curry powders. Japanese researchers have found that this powerful anti-oxident can inhibit tumor growth. UCLA researchers have found that it reduces brain inflammation that leads to Alzheimer's disease. India has one of the lowest levels of Alzheimer's, as do other countries that use tumeric in their cooking regularly. I thought this was silly, but started putting tumeric in my cooking at least once a day last fall. About a month later I was able to start walking for the first time in eight years. The third item on the list is celery. It has no fewer than 20 anti-inflammatory compounds. It has been used as a remedy for gout for over 900 years. One little baby step to try for this week.

I'm going to be a good girl, and go work on my book some.

I am looking for a website or something to get Points equivalents for recipes. I have the recipes and need to convert them to Points for some people...any suggestions?
