Default Clubmom

Since there are some new members on this thread, I thought that I would repost this (hope you all don't mind!).

Months ago, I asked Thin to find out if I could post a referrel for Clubmom, and she asked the owners and they said yes, so here it is.

I am an ambassador for Clubmom and one of my "jobs" is to get the word out to as many people as possible. Clubmom is a free website that you can join (and no you don't have to be a mom or female for that matter to join) and you get discounts to many businesses, there are lots of contests, and you can earn points that can be redeemed for free stuff (like gift certificates, electronics, trips, etc...).

The bonuses for joining are endless and again I have to say that it costs you nothing!

I am trying to get 50 people to join and so far I am at 27, so I really need your help to make my goal.

Please go to www.clubmom.com and join. There is a box that asks who referred you, please type susiehallam (no spaces). That way I get the credit for you joining.

Please also tell all your friends, family and co-workers. I, myself have been a member since the site started and have been fortunate to become an ambassador.

I really appreciate all your help to make my goal.

Susie

P.S. I have been selected to be the featured ambassador in the next issue of the ambassador newsletter! Cool!

Wow, Barb that is terrific. Congratulations on your loss.

I too want to report a loss of 1 pound at WW weigh in on Saturday. Not much but going in the right direction!

5 days until we leave for Florida! Hurray!!!!

Andrew said that his throat was hurting this morning, so I stayed home with him. Now is is running wild...so much for being sick. Oh well, at least I am not at work!

Went shopping with my SIL yesterday and got some pretty, pretty bras and panties (too pretty to call underpants) from Lane Bryant. I was a bit worried how they would look, but DH said that they "worked for him", so I guess that was a good sign. I almost bought a pair of thong ones, but just couldn't stop laughing enough to do it. I settled with the ones that look kinda like mini shorts. I don't know what they are really called, but they were very comfortable and feminine. I also got some underwire frilly bras, which also surprising fit well and feel pretty good on. I guess dressing nicer, doesn't have to hurt.

Andrew's birthday party on Saturday went well, despite an early morning snow. He got lots of toys and had a great time. I sure am glad that all the holidays and his birthday is over, maybe now things will quiet down a bit here.

Well, I am going to do laundry.

Ta Ta To All,

Susie

Susie-
I love undergarments from Lane Bryant...they are very pretty and they last forever! I put mine through the washer and dryer and they still last a LONG time!

Good morning all. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Mine was spent hanging around the house, lots of sleeping. I had my impacted wisdom teeth pull on Friday, so I was in lots of pain. Today I am back to work, and feeling a little better. I still have pain, but I think that is expected.

On Thursday, my aunt and I went to the mall on our lunch and found a scale. I my official starting weight is 315 lbs. Yuck. But I will get past it. I'm hoping that with the removal of my teeth - I have lost some weight. I haven't been able to eat a lot of solid foods, so I've been eating soups, pudding, etc... We will be weighing in again on Friday - so I will update you all on my weigh-in then.

ageoldie - Congrats on your amazing weight loss!!! WOW - is that wonderful! You must be feeling great right now!

SusieH - thanks for posting the info about clubmom.com - I will be sure to hop over to the website and sign up. Sounds great! And congrats on your 1 lb weight loss! Great job!

And I must also agree - I love the Lane Bryant under garments as well as the ones from "The Avenue". They fit good, and do seem to last longer the other brands. And their panties are very nice and colorful, which I like. When I buy them - they make me feel good about myself.

Well - I hope you ladies are all having a great day. I am off to finish up some work.

Later,

~ Kari Berry ~

Qadira - thanks for the great response I've told him that I'm uncomfortable and theres parts of me that even I get grossed out about - but he still brushes it off that itll be okay. I guess I'm just afraid that while he thinks he'll be okay with it, that he in the end might not be. I mean this is a 19 year old boy (who is 120-130 pounds and very attractive) who's never had sex.. never seen someone like me or any woman thats not a porn star naked... I guess I'm just afraid?

I've realized I've been supppper emotional lately.. I guess I just .. don't like who I am.. and thats why I'm here right?

Well this morning we went to the gym before my classes today but didn't spend much time there ;( I actually wanted to! But my brother was driving and he was ready to leave. However I did get to walk allllllll over campus so that counts in.

I hope everyone is having a great Monday I think I'm gonna go take a nap after I have a healthy yummy lunch.

Hello all - I seem to have lost 4 pounds this week - I'll refrain from getting excited until I am sure this is not a fluke. I have lost so much in the past only to find it again.

For anyone who cares to answer: Have any of you considered surgery, and if you researched and decided against it, why? What kind of surgery did you investigate?

CD – just some rambling notes here: first for rashes, try lanolin from the pharmacy – don’t get the kind for breastfeeding mothers, it’s way overpriced. Ask the pharmacist for “Lanolin Hydrous” or “Lanolin USP”, or you can order it from amazon.com of all places. Next for the sex: Qadira hit the mark again. I think regardless of someone’s size, the decision to have sex with somebody requires trust. Big time trust. Nobody but you can determine when you are ready, and how much you trust your partner. It’s a big decision. Whether you talk to your mom or not also depends on how much you trust her to support you regardless of what you decide. Don’t be surprised if she freaks out – it’s sometimes it’s absolutely frightening to be a mom and to know that your kid is growing up. And as a mom of an older teenager myself, I have to say please please please practice safe sex. When I was young the saying was “Love doesn’t last, but herpes is forever”. Unfortunately the saying for your generation has to be something like “Love is for life and AIDS is for death”. Not to mention other STDs and pregnancy.

Happy Monday to ALL - Ruby

therubyslippers - first off congrats on your amazing weight loss! 4 lbs is great!

I have done some reasearch on weight loss surgery. The only surgery that I would ever consider is the Lap-band surgery. I researched it for several months - just to find out that my insurance company would not cover it at all. (Unless I was pretty much on my death bed.) And right now - though I am 315 lbs, I am fairly healthy.

The lap-band surgery also seemed like the safest alternative, and it is reversible if need be.

I even thought about paying for it on my own (could range from $11,000 +). But that just doesn't seem realistic to me right now. And plus I feel that since I got myself in this situation, I need to get myself out of it. I've dieted before, and lost weight, so why should I think that I cannot do it again? I just have to learn to keep it off.

If my life were ever in danger due to being obese - you'd bet that I would definately have the surgery done. I think there are pros and cons to every surgery though. You just have to make the right decision for you.

therubyslippers: CONGRATS ON THE LOSS!

Surgery: NO WAY! When people lose weight that fast there is no hope for their skin to shink fast enough. I think slower weight loss provides a better chance of me not needing some skin removal surgery later. But I need to lose the weight now, while I still have some elasticity. : ) Plus, I have had major surgery before and it sucks...I would never elect to have surgery.

Just checking in to say that I am heading up to the hospital (a friend is driving me). Not sure if they will keep me in but I am pretty ill. Its the first time I have had to contemplate going in to the hospital since Ive been a single mum so its very scary (I have no family here and my 16 yr olds are going to have to look after the other two). I just have no choice, but I feel like a bad mother.

Default No No NO!!!

HippyGoddess - You are not a bad mother, you are merely ill!! It happens! I also have no family support where I live so I understand your anxiety. But the 16 year olds should do fine with the younger ones. Just be clear with them - no nonsense, they are to be mature and responsible until you return, then they can resume teenage foibles! I'll be praying for your quick return to normal life -Ruby

Ruby, Yes I've done much more than just reasearched WLS. I've lived with it for almost 3 years!!! My DH ole Alvin, had it in April 02. I would have it tomorrow if he would let me, but because he had very serious complications and nearly died, he is afraid for me to do it. Of course it was not normal for the complication he had, and instead of boring everyone here who's heard it all before, if you want details, PM me. I don't mind talking about it.

But all that aside, he has lost almost 200 pounds, and is so much healthier than he has been in years. He is playing golf again after more than 10 years not being able to walk from the bedroom to the car without stoping in the den and resting. He looks great, he feels great, but he does have about 25 pounds of saggy skin that he need to have removed, but again, because of what he went through, he's leary of having it done.

We have a GREAT WLS thread here at 3FC. It's been very quiet the last few months, but go read the posts, and be sure to post any questions, or at least introduce yourself. A bunch of us check it every day to see if there has been any new posts. I believe you will find a lot of good info and a lot of fun there. They are as great a group as this one, and I've been posting on it since the very beginning. Check it out.
