OK I AM DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!! I got the job! Well it was a tentative offer contingent on my references! But hey....I know I won't have a problem there!! They were looking for someone mature with personal injury experience and that's me! Mature...ha! And my specialty is personal injury! Its a small office and everyone pitches in and helps each other including doing therapy. THe doctor was great and really takes care of his employees. There will be 4 of us total! The hours are great too. M, T and Th are from 6:50 to 6 pm, W 6:50-1:00 and Fri 8:30-12! I'm liking the two half days. They close on M, T and Th from 1-3 so we can do whatever we want then, run errands, hang out, go shopping, go to lunch, whatever! The other 3 girls are really super nice and they hang out together too outside of work. So, it turned out to be the job for me!! When I read the ad I knew it was the job I would want....

OK gotta go get some housework done now! I'll catch up with you all later!

If it sounds like I live with my mom and sis, I don't but we all live within a mile of each other, sis works with us and work is halfway between my house and hers, and mom live about 3 blocks from me. We all go to the same health club, same church, but we do sleep in different houses Anyway Mom wanted to go back to Golden Corral for lunch today so we did. I'm so proud of myself, I didn't eat much at all, and NO DESSERT not even 2 halfs like I did last time! Just had to share that with all of you. Then on the way taking us back to work we got sidetracked at a store that was going out of business and had 75% off everything. Before we got back to work ole Alvin called me on my cell and asked which Golden Corral we went to, the one in Oklahoma? Isn't he cute!

Job update!! I might not be able to take the job now...we went to sign Andrew up for the daycare that we had liked the best and they don't open until 6:30 a.m. I thought they opened at 6 am. I would have to be at work by 6:50 and it would probably take me 30 minutes to get there! But all is not lost here....my unemployment was finalized and they deposited my first check into my checking account. Of course its only for 1 week because of the one week waiting period but hey...money is money!

Anyway....I need to get some school work done so I'll talk at you all tomorrow! Have a great night!

Post Skittles!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I have been in a very negative and crappy space due to lots of things, but after reading Skittles's post, decided to come in and be FUNNY! Maybe it'll help. I've read everyone's posts...wow, so much news!

At any rate, here goes:

Skittles, congrats on your house. But about that tooth...

Are you sure you weren't just "aching" to get rid of it? Maybe now you can get to the "root" of the problem?? Can people now say your bark is worse than your "bite"? hee hee

At any rate...congratulations to you all for staying the course, keeping the faith, following the path and oh, gosh, I guess that's enough euphemisms for now. I need to run. Oh, by the way, my mood is due to not being able to buy a house as the housing market up here SUCKS beyond belief. The Northeast and particularly Vermont is the most expensive place in the country cost of living wise to live. We can't move because my ex would sue for custody of our son. Oh well. Whine, whine.

Have a good night all.

I thought this was soooo cool!

"Back in January the 100 lb club decided to see if collectively as a group, we could lose a TON, 2,000 lbs. So we started keeping track of our monthly losses from our January weight. As of this week, we lost a ton!!!" this is the announcement from Jacob'sMommy

Congrats to the 100 lb club!!!!

Hi gang,

Another long day at work. I got home just in time for Amazing Race. I had totally forgot it was on! They are headed for the World's Largest Ikea store!

I'm going to have to buck up and do my cardio work in the mornings. Especially if I'm going to have these kinds of long days. At least I did some some exercise this morning. Food should still be okay.

For the 2x2 challenge just ended, I maintained. I feel good about that espeically over the holiday weekend. And after the pie I indulged in. Unless I missed somebody, we had two losers for this challenge.

The next 2x2 started yesterday and ends on 12/13. No sloughing off this one! Who's committing to a loss in 2?

Lucky - Sorry about that cold. I started getting one last week. Get some zinc and echinecea. It helps. And rest!

Michelle - Sucky about the job! You sounded so excited about it. Is there no flexibility?

Barb.G - for winning the Turkey challenge and for maintaining control at Golden corral! Who does old Alvin think he is....the BOSSS? Sounds like he has no control over his staff.

Sandy - I don't think it ends until the kids are out of the house.

Gail - I'm not sure if I would recommend the Geek Squad or not. This guy hires contractors and sends them out. The first wasn't fully prepared. Then he didn't call me to tell me that he wasn't coming to deliver my laptop as originally planned and that there was a problem to delay it; and he told me the inital house call would be wavied...and the owner charged me for it. The second guy kept putzing around for an hour and a half and ignoring me about the wireless router and my cable connection. I'm happy to have my laptop back and working. It was $425 but cheaper than a brand new one. I think next time I'll try another Geek group. But you know, its like going to buy anything electronic - everyone has their opinion about what works and what's the best and are convinced they are right. Ya never know. I will never buy one without the extended warranty again!

CD - Remember, doctor's are hired by you. You don't really have to justify to them. If they comment, just hold your head up high and say, 'yes I know my weight is up from last time and yes I know I have to lose and I AM changing my eating habits, and exercising and therefore losing.' No guilt!

Skittles - Woohoo on the house! Yuck on the tooth!

Angela - Congrats on the loss!

Sorry for missing stuff on the other thread!

Chris and Thin, you snuck in on me.

Looks like we have our work cut out for us next year. I don't think we have enough people to lose a ton! But we can set our own goal. That would give us more iincentive to sticking to our 2x2's!

Want to something similar to the 100 club next year?

Hello Chickas

Chris, You kill me! That is soooo the way to be. Just be funny, even if others don't think you are. All that matters is it makes you feel better. I am sorry that your house market sucks up there. It took us a few years to find and afford a house. So all I can say is when the time is right it will happen.

Went to the dentist today. I have to have surgery on Monday
I also have to see a specialist about the TMJ. Work was sooo boring today I didn't know if I was going to make it through the day. I can't believe tomorrow is only Hump day.

I have all my envelopes addressed for my Christmas cards. I just have to do up my pics. I am not sure which pic I am going to use but I have a pretty good idea

Congratulations Barbg!!!!!
WEll I need to hit the hay I didn't get much sleep last night. See you Chickas later. Hopefully I won't lose anything in my sleep.

Default Christmas in the heat

congratulations BarbG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited - I just got my Christmas Challenge in the post, just in time to start today! Laurey (my daughter) got it out of the mailbox and said "oooh what is this for you ... from the US!!!" so I opened it and she jumped up and down and said she wants to go on it too hehehe. She's one of my 16 year old twins and has been trying to increase her exercise and eat healthier this year, because she sees what a difference it's made in me!

Well if any of you want to swap places with me today for 24 hours, that would be fine with me ... we are having a heat wave here and it was 34C (93F) at 9 am (I was in the pool doing my exercise which was the best place to be). At the moment (3:30 pm) its 40C (104F) and its like an oven outside. I am hoping this is an aberration and we aren't going to have a really hot Christmas. I am going to hibernate for an hour or so, and work on my thesis when it cools down a little!

Gee... my list of notes keeps growing longer and longer.
I have been online forever writing out the new Christmas Challenge Thread.
It is a lot of the same... but little extras here and there. Please be sure to go and read it. If anyone has any questions please feel free to post them there.

Leanne... I am soooo happy you got your challenge in time. I did not know how long it would take. ( reminder to everyone that a little extra postage is needed for Australia xmas card)
I am excited your daughter wants to play too. My daughter is playing also.
You can make a copy of the Santa checklist page. Do you have a copier? We have lots of Kinkos and other places to make copies... do you in Australia?

Everyone should have their contest except MaryB. I did not get your address until yesterday.... but it is in the mail. Just keep a record of your accomplishments and you can mark them when it arrives.

I wish I had time to do replies... but my butt hurts from sitting at this computer so long. I have got to get up and MOVE.
I am happy to announce that I stayed on program today. {still Tuesday to me}
I drank most of my water.
Tomorrow is the start of the challenge and I am MORE THAN READY for it.
I am actually looking forward to journalling.
These challenges just help keep me focused. I may have to come up with a day after Christmas challenge to keep me out of trouble.
I did great Thanksgiving... but the days after.... well.. you get the picture.
I am glad that each challenge is a FRESH START !!! No baggage goes with it.

Wednesday Weigh-in... I know several have different weigh in days.
You may want to weigh today to keep track of your weight loss during this challenge.
Of course .. as always... it is only a suggestion... not a requirement.
There are NO requirements for any of it. I am doing this for the FUN ... and the discipline it is teaching ME. I am just glad so many of you are doing it with me.

I can not sign off until I say a HUGE thank you to Barbg.
I went to a buffet tonight. I did not over eat.... I made the correct choices....
and I DID NOT even look at the desserts.
I thought of you and your post sharing how YOU did not eat any desserts... not even a half of one. I kept you there with me during the whole visit. I kept remembering your post. THANK YOU so much for sharing that. I kept me dessert FREE !!!!

Good morning Chicks!

I was up at 5:45 (usual time on the days John works), I made his lunch, gathered his stuff, set out his juice and vitamin, unloaded the dishwasher, picked up the living room, got Andrew's clothes and bag ready for school, washed up, got me dressed, got him dressed and washed and ready for the bus and what do I hear outside besides the wind that has been blowing pretty strong all morning...FREAKING RAIN DROPS THE SIZE OF PEARL ONIONS!! So much for my walk this morning. Maybe if it slows down before Andrew gets back from school I will be able to get out there. He goes to preschool from 7:30 to 10:00 and is usually back by 10:20. It comes quick too! I was sooo looking forward to getting back to my morning walk! If not then I will have to do a video today! I need to stretch these muscles, they are turning to mush! Well for now I am going to address my envelopes but first I have to decide which cards to use!

Leanne - Yuk!! 104*...that stinks unless you're in a pool of course!! But even then thats still HOT!

2Cute...I am ready to go! I am going to give you a run for your money this time!! Oh BTW, I know what the sore butt feels like! I am using a padded folding chair right now at my computer. I need to get a desk chair but I am holding off because I think John is going to get me one for Christmas...sometimes it feels like I can't move if I sit here too long!

Chris - I hear you loud and clear about the real estate market and cost of living up north! Thats the main reason we just moved from Philadelphia to North Carolina. We got so much for our 2 bedroom house in Philly, we made a 70% profit in 4 years! And now we have twice the house, 3x the yard , half the mortgage and $1500 less a year in car insurance. I am originally from Rhode Island and its no better there! As far as moving with your son....I would check with an attorney. When I questioned it I was told that if you weren't moving to spite the ex then there wasn't much he could do about it. Its worth checking into...we haven't been happier since we moved down here without all that expense! You might also check into programs for first time home buyers with your state housing agency. They have programs with no down payments etc. Its worth checking...don't ever give up!!

Terri - I'm a little disappointed about the job. I have to call her today anyway so I am going to tell her the 6 pm part is no problem but 7 am would probably work better and if they can't do that I would understand. It wouldn't be fair to the other 3 employees. At least with the unemployment I have some income coming in and I won't have to pay $500 a month for daycare! Plus I can work for my realtor friend too on the side. so all is not lost. My theory is that something better is coming along. I would really like something a little closer to home too. NOt that that office is all that far away. Its 15 miles, close to my sister's house.

Lucky I hope you are feeling better. I woke up with a headache again this morning but I think its from the heat!!

Skittles - congrats on your house too! Its exciting buying a new home! Why the surgery? I had the same thing happen to me....had a root canal, temporary filling came out then part of the tooth broke off on the inside of my mouth. I keep sticking my tongue in there and it gets sore occassionally...I still have dental insurance too but just haven't gotten around to making an appointment. I hate spending money on that stuff. And with this insurance I'm not sure if they pay the majority or if its just a discount plan. Its from my last employer. I kept the cobra for that part. The health insurance was just way too high!

Sandy, arent' kids exhausting? And you have two! I really wanted twins because I was 40 when I delivered and figured that was the quick and easy way to get my two kids! Boy am I GLAD that didn't happen! I couldn't imagine two of Andrew at one time! I love him to death but he keeps me on my toes! And that fresh attitude he gets periodically! Sometimes I as God what happened to my little angel? Where did he go?? LOL

CD the next time you think you want fast food just picture all the artery clogging grease just dripping off the pizza or burger or fries into your blood stream clogging up your heart valves! That does it for me! I will opt for a salad anytime over that stuff now! Our tastes buds do change and become accustomed to eating the good stuff eventually if we do it consistently enough! OK was the graphic enough for you? Yeah and the doctor...to heck with him..yes he will be concerned but just tell him you gained since you were last there but have been changing your eating habits and have lost as well and are continuing to lose. Who cares what he thinks anyway!!

Good morning Gail...good morning Barbg....and the rest of you need to come out and post today. Fresh start to keep up from gaining too much weight over the holidays. THere's nothing more depressing than having to lost 10 extra pounds after the holidays, so if we do the best we can between now and then, that will be that much less we have to lose in January!! Did that make sense? Sometimes I scare myself! Now I know for sure its time to get off here and do my cards! My butt hurts!! LOL

Never fear...I will be back! Michelle
