Good Morning, :coffee:

Good numbers reporting in .... I doubt mine will be - I am hoping to "hold steady". BUT I am still pumped for this challenge and feeling good about it. :trampo:

Just the fact I am "happy" to be doing this is a miracle in and of itself. :yay:

Same weight range, kinda hard to tell if there are real losses my body yoyo's with water weight like a mofo. :) I'll take the 319 though, I'll be extremely happy if the numbers stay under 320 for a while. :)

Ubee 01-13-2014 01:50 PM

Silent I have an idea... How about if you stay under 320 FOREVER!!!
It is OK to say ADIOS to the last decade and never return!

Nightkatt 01-13-2014 02:28 PM

CAR - Welcome on board ... and wow .. great first week :) Well done!

SKIP - No stress about the add on this week .. its only the start of a new challenge and Im sure you will pull it back no problem :) My cook book is going to be pretty straight forward I think .. most of the foods I use are pretty generic, although the brands might be different over there lol .. will see how the book turns out .. my last one has over 200 recipes in it but no pics and no nutrition info (just as well cos I am sure most of them are ridiculous for calories and fat lol) .. so I figure I would rather have less than 100 but have them with pics and nutrition information instead ... mind you .. I am still useless with weighing things so it all turns out Im approximating things lol ..

PAM - If you have a few bad days and TOM over for a visit then you did great this week with no gain :) TOM has finally turned up for me too after giving me crud all week last week ... so not sure what that is going to do for the next weigh in lol .. but will take whatever comes :) Great job :)

MOUNTAIN - Thanks hun and great loss this week for you too!

ISLES - As usual I am loving your attitude .. this new year has definitely started off as a positive one for you and its great to see :)

LARRY - Great loss this week. Have you been keeping warm and busy?

UBEE - I will join you in saying adios to your 250 figure .. great job ... hopefully I will be seeing that number soon so I can say Bye bye to it as well! lol Great job this week for sure :)

LESLIE - WOW .. great one this week for you .. your goal is gonna be booted quite nicely with this weeks result .. well done!

ARCTIC - Definitely take it and run with it ... remember we aren't here to LOSE weight ... who wants to find it?? Its Adios for sure not see you later lol. Great job this week .. hope you are keeping warm and well too!

Wow .. some great results so far this week .. and even for those that stayed the same or went up a little ... don't stress .. its only week one and maybe you can look at other things rather than the scales for some more positives this week ... maybe you got your water intake right ... or you worked out a few times (or at all!) .. REMEMBER .. this journey is NOT all about the scales .. while they help to focus some times .. its not that which is the end result, it is how you feel and if that makes you happy.

My hunny was listening to talkback the other day and he said to me they were discussing weight loss etc .. and they reckon (whoever THEY are with their studies and things) .. that people have better luck with good food choices if its described as activity rather than calories ... like ... to eat this you would need to do 30 minutes on a treadmill at level 5 ... rather than that has 340 calories .... so he was talking about this new study result .. and I just sat there and looked at him ... he obviously found it interesting and enlightening ... then he realised I was sitting there looking half amused and half "are you kidding me?" expression. "What?" he said.

WHO ARE THEY STUDYING????? I don't know ANYONE who would rather know how much activity they would have to do to allow them to eat something .. when its easier to know what sort of daily calorie intake you need and then know what the calories are for the foods you eat ... gawd some people are idiots. Yes its interesting to know if I have that ice cream to get rid of those calories I would have to do this or that ... but I wouldn't have the darn thing if I knew it was going to put my calories for the day over anyway!! (unless it was an active day and then I might risk it lol).

I do wonder some times where some of these research ideas come from .. and what groups they are asking .. is it from a certain area of the country or nationwide (do you know the chances of a person from one state thinking the same way as a person from another state is actually pretty slim?? For these sorts of things anyway ... same as what foods work best in what areas etc)... is it an age range? Is it a mix of professionals and students, mums and dads, retired etc ... no .. a big chunk of these studies actually don't have a good cross section of the population of the country ... so many I know of are usually other students at the university or whatever lol ..

Right .. rant over lol ... Im just relaxin in the sun (sorry peeps .. believe me I will be envious of you in another few months or so!) at Starbucks having a cup of coffee waiting for my ride into town ... just popping in to drop off the keys and sign the paperwork for the store to complete that chapter .. and I have a job interview! lol .. unexpected phone call yesterday so that is nice .. Feeling a little sore (thank you TOM) and a little tired .. but will be stopping at a friends to have her help me get war paint on to hide the bags lol ... I don't wear it usually so Im no good at putting it on lol. I had a hard time dressing this morning for an interview .. I had gotten rid of so many of my old work clothes that I didn't have a lot left to choose from .. finally found a pair of black pants, but none of my tops were really right .. so I have compromised with a brown singlet top and a lace jacket ... not exactly professional .. but its the best I can do otherwise it would look like Im wearing a sack .. actually .. no it wouldn't cos I got rid of those clothes ... definiltey be good to have a job, I think I need some more clothes lol

I did baking yesterday, practicing a few more recipes for my book ... made the Almond/Lemon cake which worked out so much better than the first attempt lol .. and I managed to knock about 90 cal off a piece of it too :) The banana cupcakes I ended up making were spicy with coconut ... I think they have worked out ok .. and the revamp saved about 30 cal each one ... the rustic Apple/Craisin loaf was definitely a better one than my Pear/Sultana one .. whether it was the size of the fruit I put in or just the change of mixture I don't know .. but I might even try this mix as a muffin instead of a loaf to see, as I think it would make a really good breakfast muffin ... hunny will give me feedback tonight on it as he has taken it for his snack today .. along with his Chili that I made him yesterday. Will try to post some pics of the baking when I get home tonight :)

Hope everyone else has a great day!

kendrabear 01-13-2014 11:21 PM

Good job everybody!
Well I'm sad to say that I stepped on the scale this morning and weighed in at 295 lbs. That's higher than my start weight. I'm really hoping this is just an exercise gain. But we'll have to see.

wannaskipandlaugh 01-14-2014 07:46 AM

Night... I forgot about the pebbles... That is such a great idea!... I just need the jars as I have a bunch of smoothed glass pebbles too.. LOVE IT

Just thinking about your post that your husband was interested in (what you eat and what you have to do to get rid of it) I wonder if that message was geared towards men? They do think differently from us girls and maybe that might click with them (and of course someone will be trying to make some money from that idea too LOL)

Thank you for sharing YOU!!! I so enjoy being a small part of your community and and I am so HAPPY THAT EVERYONE HAS LOST SOMETHING!... Me I will next weigh in ! I BELIEVE IT! :)

mountain walker 01-14-2014 09:27 AM

Katt, I love love love the pebbles thing! Rushed straight off to put mine in!!
Well done everybody, losers/samers and gainers! The main thing for us all is to stay focussed and see it as a long term thing not just a quick fix!
What job will you be doing Katt? Is the job situation as ropey as it is in the UK?
Apparently, the job crisis is improving over here but in Wales things were worse than England, especially in the public sector. As I am a Physiotherapist, when I looked for work after being ill with Mental Health problems, there was 1 locum position in the whole of Wales! I took it and loved it but needed something more permanent. To cut a long story,my physical and mental health wouldn't allow me to go back to Physio.
Soooooo.....another long story cut short, in 2012 I spent some time working as a volunteer in my son's school where we used to live. I absolutely loved it and after volunteering my services to his new school, I have a meeting wih the headteacher to chat about hours and so on! Ultimately I would love to work as a support worker in Junior school, so this is really good experience.
I am so excited about it! A career change at the grand old age of 47!
Keep going fellow challengers.

kendrabear 01-14-2014 05:25 PM

Just a quick update... Weighed in this morning at 289. It seems like my body has finally let go of the excess exercise weight. I know I'll probably go back to 290-291 once I eat and get some water in me but I'm just glad to not be 295-296 anymore. Even though I knew it wasn't really my weight it was super discouraging.
