Hey, ladies, crazy busy, but thinking of you all. Had a bad eating day yesterday, back on the wagon today. Off to see three houses this morning.

Have a great day!

Just checking in...was out of town for work week before last and then had a heck of a time getting back on track once I came home. Me being gone throws my daughter "off" too so I have had to put "extra time" into loving her. I love doing that but I don't also have the time so getting things done and not being scattered/overwhelmed has been tough. But things ar looking up. I lost 7 pounds in January. I have been off track for almost a week now but my eating is getting better too now.
Hope you all have a great week! Iwillbe: I like canned veggies too. Isn't it good there is such variety to meet all our "likes"! :-) Vortex VVV: Hope the house hunting is going weel. It can be so much fun and exhausting all at the same time.

Oh Ruth - I eat some canned veggies too - this soup I made just seemed like it was nothing but cans. I think I threw away 9 empty cans.

Angela - how were the houses?

Well, surprise, surprise, I liked the most expensive one best Actually, I really think it's well within my budget and all, and I liked it a lot; it had everything I'm looking for, but not any obvious huge problems. The only needed repair I could see off the bat was just some patching in the driveway. Master bath has a great walk-in shower, which is my thing, and two sinks, which would be nice for DH. The real thing is the floorplan, which is great for entertaining: the kitchen is open to a breakfast room area, which is open to the living room, PLUS there's a formal dining room and small front parlor where my piano would live. I want to be able to host receptions for visiting poets and department parties, which means between 40 and 80 people, and this house would do it nicely (oh, yeah, french doors off the living room into the backyard, too).

So, I guess you could say I've transfered all my enthusiasm from the old fixer-upper to the slightly more upscale ranch. It's also on Fox Lake Drive, and the fox is my spirit animal, and I've got a fox door knocker that's waiting for a door to hang on...

Renting until you're 45 is a pain in the ***, but it does have some advantages...I couldn't have afforded this house when I was young, that's for sure.

DH is still nervous about the whole thing (you know, we've got the two household thing going...) but I'm pretty sure I won't be paying much more, even with taxes and insurance accounted for; my actual mortgage payment should be less than what I pay in rent now, and it really is high time to stop throwing money away on rent.

Okay, so that was a lot about houses. On the eating front, all is well. Tomorrow I've got a plan for the day, which accounts for the presence of donuts in the department, and the fact that I'll be dining with our job candidate. I'll be ordering salmon with brown rice and the vegetable of the day.

Have a good Wednesday, all.

Angela

Good morning everyone, I hope you have an op day....me too!

Angela, the house sounds wonderful. I hope you get the house of your dreams. I have been touring some homes on-line. I like a lot of them, but there is always something missing in each one. No garage, or no separate shower, or something along those lines. I know I am spoiled. We have so much space here and a 1040 square foot double car garage with two storage rooms and a half bath,, now how can I live without that? LOL! I say I want a smaller place, but I am not so sure that is true.

Carol, LOL! on the canned veggies. I like some of them, not all. They are handy to have though. I use mostly frozen when I can't get fresh.

j-ann, how is the knee? Mine is barking at me this morning.

Hi tw, yes it is good we can all find things we like. Now if they could just take the calories out of them....

Have a good day ladies. Ruth

I have always used alot of canned veggies but lately been doing more frozen and love them.

angela- cant wait to hear about the house you end up choosing! You will have to post pictures for us.

I think we are going to get a bit of winter now. We have a rain and snow mix out there this morning. They are saying its not going to amount to anything today but more heading our way for early next week.

Eating was good yesterday but the scales are not budging! Im confused and starting to get plain old MAD

I'm excited for you Angela! Another nice thing about owning is that your payments don't go up (unless you refi to pay it off quicker). Keep us posted!

Things are moving along here. Way too busy though.

Off to WW in a few minutes but wanted to stop in quickly and say:

"Angela, the home sounds lovely. If it's what you want ..... GO FOR IT!"

Back later.

Thanks, guys, for the house advice. I'm trying to figure out what to offer, hoping to get to the courthouse tomorrow to find out what the sales history is.

Ruth, your garage has more square feet than the whole first floor of my apartment! (Just a little more, but still!)

Anyone have advice for what to do when people just hand you food without asking whether you want it or not?

Went to WW yesterday morning and had a 1.4 lb loss....Yeah! Then went to agility class with the dog. Then continued on to run errands w/o going home and no snacks in the car, and my trusty restaurant food guide at home. So I let myself do the drive thru thing. BAD idea. Between the extremely high pt. sandwich and the 1/2 small order of fries I wrecked my whole day and ended up using a lot of extra points to finish the day. ( The chicken sandwich ( not grilled ), all by itself was more than 2/3s of my daily points allowance! I did get right back on track but was so angry for wasting the points on food that wasn't even that good. Grrrrrrr

Angela: I'd say either pass the candy on or toss it ASAP. Cake is easier. Just let it sit. You could put a napkin over it and do the "I'm full. I'll have some later" thing. Then offer it to a hungry friend, or take it and toss it. Then there's just say "No thanks. I don't eat sweets" if you're feeling strong!

OK.....off to start my day.

Ruth - I think our house isn't much bigger than your garage - glad I don't have to clean it.

Angela - what an exciting time - a great time to buy too since you don't have one to sell.

Not much going on around here - loving the routine.

Judy - we were posting at the same time - nice loss! Way to recover after hitting the pothole - that's always my problem - oh well, the day is gone might as well start tomorrow.

Morning ladies!

Hi Judy, nice loss! Yeah, I have run into a few of those potholes.

Carol, I don't clean that garage either! That is my husbands duty. This house gets cleaned a bit at the time. I can remember the days that I could do most of it in one day, not so anymore. It does good to get the skim over version now.

Angela, if there is a window close by with curtains ...just hide it behind those, LOL! That is what I used to do at social functions when someone kept handing me drinks. I don't drink and never have....I mean the hard stuff. I don't know what they thought when they started to clean. LOL!

Deb, good for you! I hope I have a good food day too, and all of you. Ruth

Had a nice whoosh on the scale today! I doubt it will still be there for my official WI on Monday (right before TOM), but it was nice to see.

My clothes definitely fit so much better. I tried on a pair of pants that are a smaller size to see how far away I am... I can get them up, but no where near able to button... still, good progress!
