Default Back Again

Wow, I'm in need of some support right now, Ladies! I'm back after stopping sometime in August. My boyfriend became very ill from weight loss surgery complications and was in the hospital off and on for weeks at a time until around Halloween. I've gained back around 12 pounds I'd worked hard to lose, and haven't been back to the gym because I developed pneumonia while caring for him and just haven't gotten back on the horse. I'm surprised, though, I managed to not gain 50 pounds through all of the stress! I guess I'm not the stress eater I envisioned myself to be.

So I'm back. And he is also back in the hospital with a redeveloped gastric leak from before. It sucks, but we're managing and getting by. He should be home in a few days in IVs and will be working from home. The few months he was able to eat (Thanksgiving until last weekend), he ate tiny bits of everything he had craved and wanted those 5 months he couldn't eat. And I did too, only he had the tiny bits (thanks to his tiny tummy) and I had larger bites of course and full-on servings.

He lost 95 pounds. I've gained 12. Back to the drawing board! I know I'm going to be slammed with his care after work until this is behind us, but I could also use this time to my benefit to lose some weight while he is unable to eat-- I can make healthiest choices now and we can save his cravings and my control of them for later establishment.

Sooooo, I haven't disappeared, just gone into hiding for awhile. I don't know how much exercise I will be doing, but I will certainly be making new food choices and changes over the next few months and slowly incorporate exercise into the mix, time permitting! Glad to be back.

Glad to see you back! It is hard work being a caregiver. Make sure to take care of yourself as well.

Hi Kerri, Ditto, ditto, take care of yourself. Get support here and wherever else you can and make it a priority. I really regret not having made myself more of a priority during the 3 years my mother was ill. I don't regret having taken the best care of her I could, but I wish I had worked harder to keep myself in the mix.

Vortex, you're so right! I kinda melted into his illness the past few months and though my own health is in the back of my mind, it wasn't priority. It still won't be priority, but it's going to be right up there with caring for him, for sure.
