Default 300+ Monthly Thread #1289

WELCOME!!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simultaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us!

Hey Everyone!!
~Well, yesterday, for the first time in years, I went to a waterpark. It was my baby girls 6th birthday, and she is a little fish, and that is what she wanted to do. Now, for me, this was a BIG deal, because I am REALLY self concious, and I do not like exposing my body, and on top of that it is HOT, and involves miles of walking and stairs, BUT I made it!!! AND ... I had so much FUN!!!! But, I hurt today, LOL!! My arms are killing me, I am tired, and my abs are even sore. She says next year for her birthday she wants to go to six flags. Now that is a kicker, because as of right now I do not think I will even fit into half the rides. boo!!! But also a awesome motivator, because I promised her I would take her, and I will NEVER break a promise to her!!!!

I thought I posted on here the other day to 'bump' it up....DOH
I'm due for a 'fill' next Monday, thank goodness, I'm hungry all the time, even eating crunchy, fibrous foods isn't helping much. I'm keeping the fluids up and exercising but it is SO hard! I've been told by my dietician that there is no 'real' restriction until I've had 2-3 fills. YIKES I'd better get exercising! I'm joining CURVES at the end of August -to benefit from an offer- and will be going 3+ times a week in September-once my boys are back at school as there's no one to watch them.
Where is everyone? Hope you are doing better than me! I've got sciatica, coldsores and TOM is SO overdue!

Hey, sorry if this is a dumb question but can I ask what a 'fill' is? Or what you mean by that?

No probs, I had a gastric band fitted 7/7/11 and every month I have 1ml or so put into it until I get the right restriction to not be hungry and over-eat.

Not having a very good day today!! First off I feel icky ... I work at a hotel, and someone burnt popcorn this morning, and it made me sick to my tummy and I can't shake it. I have a headach and just feel overall tired and drained. I am pre-TOM so that is probably why. Also, I was so excited to weigh myself at my daughters Dr. appt tomorrow (the same day I get my ticker) and they called today to reschedule because they overbooked !! And, my hubby is out of work, but a friend was going to get him a job on a rig, and he walked off the job last night, so he will not be helping my hubby get a job ... boo!!! There is way to much stress in my life right now ... I just wanna go home and crawl back in bed!!!

So sorry to hear of your stress SoDet! I can relate to the tiredness. OMG I hate it when someone burns popcorn. It is the nastiest smell to me.

TOM is here for me and it was a monster one. I had to go to a conference on Mon and Tues and was in so much pain, I was wondering if I was going to pass out, throw up or both. I managed to hold it together. During stress, all I want to do is eat, even if nauseated. I did well and didn't have any of the cookies at the break.

Hang in there!! We can do this,

Hugs,
Ratkity

I'm back after the most ridiculous hiatus and everyone seems to be outside playing in the sun instead of inside chatting up a storm! Hi to all the familiar faces, and nice to meet you to those I don't yet know. I'm plugging away after a couple of months with literally no money to spend on food (we lived off of Starbucks leftovers... yikes) because it all had to go to rent, bills, and my girlfriend's meds... le sigh. Now we're on an upswing and I'm buying healthier foods and getting back into it and feeling great. I had been down to 267, but gained back up to 284 (YIKES!) over the course of our time in Thunder Bay, our move back to Ottawa, and the months since where we scrimped will she looked for work and we lived off my meagre Starbucks income. Now I'm at 278, and I have no doubt I can lose the 11 pounds to be back where I was and then keep 'em coming off!

So that's me, hope everyone's doing well... excited to hear about your gastric band, Sharon, hope that's going well for you! SoDet, I hear you on the job hunt front... it's exhausting, and stressful, and I hope your husband finds something soon so you can all breathe a little. Lynnie, way to go for a healthier choice! And Rat... is it an understatement to say that TOM is the worst?! I just finished mine and it just knocked me right out. Hope you feel better now!

Good Morning Everyone!!! Yep, my hubbie is still looking ... it seems he keeps getting these great prospects and then they fall through at the last minute. I just keeping hoping that something will come along. At this point I do not care what it is, anything would help. It would be awesome if he found a great job so I could go back to school like we planned, BUT if he finds ANYTHING it will be better. I would love to go back to school, but I do not mind working if that is what I need to do right now. I know that eventually we will make it so that I can finish my degree, and that will make life even better for us, but it does not have to happen now!! I will not lose hope or faith, I know its tough right now, but things will work out. Just gotta keep on keeping on!! And welcom back Neon ... love your positive attitude!!! And you kept a LOT of your weight off, not to much of a gain during what sounds like a very stressful time. Glad that you and yours are doing better now, and I hope it keeps getting better for yall!!!

Hello my Peeps!

I have been at the parent's place all weekend. I played guitar for my auntie who had a stroke at the acute care home (ok.. nursing home, but I hate that word). The nurses aren't sure if she's had another stroke because she's not able to make out any words now. She's been combative since the original big stroke.

I know she was happy I came down to play guitar for her and her friends. My little sisters were there and sang along. I talked to her for a little while and she held my hand and squeezed it a lot.

I was POP the entire time. Didn't do too well on the drive home, but still within calories. I also exercised with Mom at the gym while I was home. A miracle!

Sharon, hoping you are doing ok!

Neon, I'm glad you are back!! OMGosh, you sound like you've been through the ringer. Hang in there. I'm feeling way better now that TOM is gone.

Determined, oh my, the no job thing is beyond stressful. I will keep my toes and fingers crossed (as well as for neon's roomie) to find work.

Lynnie, I hear ya. I'm at a stall. Then I get frustrated and go off plan, or TOM comes around and I go off plan, or I feel bad and go off plan. UGH! Somehow, I have to get my head screwed on straight!! I need to take care of the fibroid that is making TOM so bad and then take care of the hip that has become so painful it's hard to walk. Good thing it doesn't mess with my ability to ride my bicycle!!

Hugs to all out there!

Ratkitty, glad you were a comfort to your Aunt.xxxx I've been on a visit to my parents on the coast. I had my first 'fill' but I managed to gain 1lb!!!! I walked MILES along the beach and sand dunes, I ate a little, though I was suprised I could still eat a small plate (side plate) of food. I've started using my fitnes pal (or something like that! lol) on my iphone to log exercise and foods; it has a barcode scanner to help count calories!!! as well as a HUGE library of branded and basic foods, I really NEED TO SORT MYSELF OUT!!! I feel ashamed as I'm back to 14lbs lost, I know the band is a tool but I expected to feel the need not to eat, apparently I'll need 'fills' every month-anout 1ml each time-until I feel 'restriction' ie; fullness after 3-5 spoos of food. I'm exercising with weights and doing my Salsacise DVD (aerobic/Salsa based exercise dvd) Sending hugs to your kitties, pups, parrot and you & your Aunt.xxxxx
Neon, you did well with all that stress not to gain more or give up totally! How is your course, are you finished yet? Hope your GF is okay.xxxxx
Sodet, hope your hubby finds something soon and you're able to go back to education. I HATE the smell of popcorn, even unburnt! though I LOVE the taste, lol.xxxxx
Lynnie can't you sign up to something to stop them? In the UK we have an organisation which is free & stops them contacting you. Do you have caller ID? I always say NO THANKS! and put the phone down, though once when I dropped dinner on the floor, tripped over the dog and TOM was due I told them to pi33 off! Hope your stall is over, are you still exercising?
My HRT is not working, hot flushes, sweats, mood swings and no TOM for over 8 weeks! I'm going to try my Dr. & see what can be done.
xxxx sharon
