300+ Amazing in August Exercise Thread
WELCOME!
to the August exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!
In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!
In 2010 the 300+ club broke our 2009 record and exercised for over 250,000 minutes. I don't know if we'll break that record, but I do know exercise is a great way to keep on plan.
We invite you to join us!
To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes.
Our Totals so Far:
21764 January
9935 February
14504 March
14575 April
13184 May
5663 June
7335 July
______
86960 minutes thru July!!

Okay, time for me to buckle down with the exercise.
I need to re-commit to exercise again. So, I will commit to 30 min a day. 900 min total!!

I'm shooting for 1100 in August. I'll be traveling next week, so I may miss posting for a few days, but I know I'll be getting my walking in.
Welcome back home, Heather!

I'm upping to 1250 minutes for August.
I am twenty minutes from goal this month and missed days for my boyfriend's surgery complications and my vacation.

Hey all, I am new, but I want to join the challenge. I am going for 20 + minutes a day, so that is 620 for the month. I do have a question, if I do more than the 20 minutes do I count that also? Good luck everyone!!

um well 20 a day for this week seems realistic since im just starting and a 20 min mile kicked my arse but im hoping for more like upping 20 min a week the next 2 and leveling off at 60 a day so lets see 20 min a day times 7 plus 40 min times 7 plus 60 a day times 14 should put me around 1260 wow i confused my self lol

Glad to see you here, Bear.
Whew! We were walking around for 5 hours, minus a few sitting breaks and lunch. So I'm counting 180 minutes.
Personal total: 180/1100
Group total: 180

Please no one should feel like they are doing so "little" exercise! We ALL have to start somewhere and come in here at all kinds of different levels. I've seen many people set unrealistic goals and then got frustrated they couldn't make it and gave up!

Way true, Heather. Plus, I know I did TOO MUCH today. My foot is sore and I'm going to have to scale back what I do tomorrow as a result, and probably the next day, too.
