Wink Wii Just Dance.... Would you consider this exercise?

What do you guys do for exercise? My knees are bad and hurt ALL THE TIME! I was told by my doctor that I cannot do lunges or squats until I lose some weight. Any ideas? Walking is always good but boring. A friend of mine suggested that I do the Just Dance Wii game. She said that I can do it at my own pace. What do you guys think? I love to dance so this could be perfect for me.

I would say go for it. Just be careful and respect those knees. You don't have to lunge or squat to enjoy dancing. Have fun and shake your groovething.

As a semi-cardio queen who works out 5-6 days a week and runs a sub-30-min 5K, I break a serious sweat with that game. Seriously! If you get into it, it'll give you a workout for sure. Just be sure to keep moving in the breaks between songs (they can be long, and your heartrate will slow...even walking in place briskly will help keep it up).

I think anything you do to bring your heartrate up is exercise! But DO watch those knees. Dancing can bother mine.

Do you like to swim? Ride bikes? Both can be great cardio and are easy on the knees.

YES! I use Just Dance to exercise almost daily! I couldn't believe, at first, how I built up such a sweat just by using that game!

I know have Just Dance, Just Dance 2, Dance on Broadway, Michael Jackson Experience and Gold's Gym Dance Workout.

There are many different effort and difficulty levels on each of the games~try them out to see which you like the best!

Happy Dancing!

I've never played this game, but it sounds like fun! Just wanted to also chime in and say there are many exercise videos who's moves are based on dance moves. My favorite (and I know you'll probably laugh) is Richard Simmons Disco Blast Off! He's a great motivator and always has something positive to say! He's also super funny and really upbeat. The whole Blast Off series is great, and I've heard his Sweatin' To The Oldies series is great as well. Just an idea.

I remember doing sweatin to the oldies with my mom when I was a little kid just because it was fun.

I use Just Dance as a workout with MY daughter now. She just loves to do it with me. It really works up a sweat for sure.

Just Dance is DEFINITELY cardio. Any form of dance where you have to keep moving and break a sweat is good cardio.

YES YES YES! I have Just Dance 2, and after 30 mins with it, I feel much like I do after I do Zumba. Just take it easy with the knees!

YES! It doesn't feel like a workout at all to do! It feels like fun! That is until you realize after your third or fourth song you're pouring sweat and totally out of breath. It's incredible.

Oh, and to make it better, the fact that you earn points is like the little short term reward for doing it right- and the workout you're getting is the actual reward. I swear by this game as being awesome to the 100th degree.

A Wii is on my wishlist, because everytime I play it at my Mom's house (five hours away) with my sisters and nephews I work hard enough to get out of breath and be sore the next day.

I've also seen the improvement in my mom. When she first bought the Wii for my nephews (my sister and her sons live with my parents) she couldn't even play bowling without having to sit between turns. Even before her knee replacement surgeries, I could see improvements in her stamina by the games she was playing and how long she was standing.

Swimming and even just treading water is amazing, especially if you can find a warm water program in your area (the Arthritis Foundation or Department on Aging and Disability Resources in your area should be able to tell you if there's a program).

I would. I think if you are going from nothing to this, it will be great, with great results! I played last night for 30 minutes, and I was sweating! Its a fun change up to exercise routine's. DH does it as exercise for days we miss the gym.
Maybe try finding it used? That way its not as big as an investment. You can find it on Amazon used, or even a gaming store.

Yes! It works! I've never played it, but a friend of mine is crazy about it and says the results are amazing!

This sounds like something I need to pick up!

I have been doing Zumba at 24 hr and I love it. So this could be good for when I have to be home with the kids! Thanks for the tip.
