confession time: I munched my way through the evening. luckily, I think I ended up calorie-neutral for the day (no deficit, no overage), in part because I really hadn't eaten much during the day.

Still, I gotta figure out how to deal with hubby being out of town...

Scale stayed the same this morning.

Good morning Heather, I hope you find an answer to the munchies. I am trying to plan an op food day. I am not sure yet what.

I have some squash out of the garden and tomatoes. I will have to see what I can make to go with those. I may try Lilions tomato and zuchhini dish, it sounded good. My DH wanted "fried" cubed steak and he will get it. Not for me! He gets on these kicks once in awhile. I guess he gets tired of my healthy dishes. LOL!

Well, back to the battle...house cleaning day. Everyone have a fabulous day. OP day that is. Ruth

Good Morning Ladies!

I'm at work sipping my tea...just finished my oatmeal. I'll have some strawberries/blueberries as my morning snack. I also packed a granola bar, carrots/hummus and 1/2 a banana. Lunch will be chicken and veggies from the cafeteria. Not sure what dinner will be because I'm at the gym until about 7pm tonight. Maybe Subway or a sandwich at home. It will be healty and w/in my calories.

Last night DH didn't want to eat what I was cooking so he went out and got pizza, breadsticks, chips and soda. WHAT? I should be used to this type of behavior by now, but it just makes me mad that he shows such a lack of support for me, thinks it's ok for the kids to eat that way...and thinks it's ok for him to eat that way! I didn't so much as touch a pepperoni. It was a nice big chicken and veggie stirfry for me. I felt like I "won" when he tasted mine and commented on how good it was!! One of these days he HAS to come around...at least a little!

I didn't get as much exercise as I would have liked yesterday, but I did get in a bike ride and worked up a good sweat.

Ruby - as for motivation for exercise....it was certainly difficult to make it a habit, but the pounds coming off were the motivation for me. Now...I just love it. Really, I do. It's the only time I get to focus just on me...no work, no kids, no hubby, no house...just ME! I have to do it everday and when I don't get to I seriously want it and crave it! Someone please remind me of this if I ever start to slip up!

Must work. Everyone have a happy and healthy day! Just do it! You can! I believe in you! Believe in yourselves!

Love ya'll!

Hi ladies,

I'm trying to come to this morning. My allergies have been really bad the last several days and its like I'm in a fog all the time. Worse than the fog is the fatigue.

I have a big elephant in the room that I need to deal with. And its not exactly me! It is my tendency to do really good during the first part of the week and then fall apart starting on Thursday. I didn't so much as do a whole bunch of overeating as I quit planning and logging my food. And I see that I tend to forget posting here too. That is definetly a behavior I want to work on.

I had a good riding lesson on Saturday. And then a nap. But I did get my lazy rear end up and head outside to do yardwork. I'm beginning to whine about how tired I am of doing all the trim work around the place. My push string mower was annoying me as the plastic string kept breaking. So instead of giving up, I got the regular weedeater and a significant chunk of the trim work with that. That was a bicep and shoulder muscle building effort. I did a couple of hours more yesterday until my arms felt like they were going to fall off and it was almost out of gas. My reward was to float around in the pool.

I've also been spending a lot of time at the new computer trying to get the whole financial thing going again. While I saved about 98% of everything, I'm having to reload some software and try to figure out how to retrieve some other stuff because you can't copy software over from one harddrive to another. I finally figured out how to retrieve my Palm software and all the address info that I have. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to retrieve all my email info but sadly, haven't gotten that to work yet. Its just amazing how much of a time killer all this computer stuff is.

I really need a personal/farm assistant. I just haven't figured out how to get one that would just live with us and not expect much pay. Guess that's why our ancestors had all those kids - farm help.

Okay, back to the health focus. This week's challenge is about either eliminating something to cut a few calories or making a healthy swap to reduce calories or fat or sugar, etc. My goal is to get my calories down to 1700 a day by doing this. I also will get a plan together for the week and get regrouped for mental intensity and commitment. Yeah, determination, that's the word!

Better get this posted and catch up with the rest of your posts tonight. Work beckons!

to all!

Good morning ladies !

Thanks for the exercise tips. I think the biggest thing right now (besides me !) .. sorry, had to borrow that from Terri .. is just trying to get moving consistently. I just feel like a huge blob trying to exercise. I know it's got to be part of the rest of my life though.

Heather ... I have the opposite problem as you with your hubby. I really dislike when mine is home when he's not meant to be, and it totally throws me off. For probably well over 10 years now, it's been that he is gone lots during the week. During this time, I've developed my own routine and kind of life .. so to have him around bugging me is difficult ! lol poor guy. He might possibly be home quite a bit this week .. so we'll see who's left standing at the end of it

Terri ... I've been not as good with the journalling either, but maybe due to the plan I'm following, it's just kind of becoming normal to me and I don't really need to keep track. I would like to make it part of my day though, as I think it's a good habit to get into.

Maybe I could come and stay with you for the rest of the summer .. kind of like a farm boot camp? hehe

Barb .. Good for you on passing up the pizza ! That must be so frustrating. I told my hubby that he can get whatever he wants, because I know that I'm doing this for me and I can't expect everyone to hide their food (although secretly it would be nice ) but I have to say he's been good, which helps a lot. I think I'm lucky in that way. I honestly don't know how I would handle it if he showed up with all that junk. I think I'd be a bit peeved too.

Have a great Monday everyone !!

Hey, Ruby, the other motivator for me has been this: Every so often I find that some daily task has gotten easier. I find myself walking faster and not getting out of breath as quickly. I know that's from exercise, and it's my main motivator. I keep thinking some of the other things that are currently difficult might actually get easier, too.

Good afternoon!
Thank you so much for the welcome!

Heather, that's great that you didn't overdue on your calories. It can really make it hard when we skip a meal. Seems all I want to do is eat later in the day when I do that.

Ruth, how did the house cleaning go? Wanna come over here...I've got plenty to do!

Barb, those husbands....boy sometimes ya just wanna....well, you know. Try and take it easy that's great that you didn't touch any of it. That in itself is a great accomplishment!

Terri, hope the allergies are getting better. They can sure get in the way of life. I too do the same thing with being so good in the beginning of the week and mess up later in the week. I can't figure out why I do it. Whereabouts in Missouri are you? My Dad was born in Independence.

Ruby, I'm with you...I wanna go to the farm bootcamp too!!

So much yardwork to get done but I'm going to go out there and get busy. The one big garden is so overgrown it's going to take me a couple days. The weeds are almost as tall as me!!!
Life is still going pretty well though.. We went to the casino and my hubby had won $760 on Bingo and then we get home today and he had entered a drawing at the Walmart optical and won $100 gift certificate, health is good, Avon is coming along good, I'm losing weight ....and it just seems things are moving in the right direction.
The only bad thing that happened is my mom had fallen and hit her hip. Thankfully it wasn't broken but they did keep her in the hospital for a couple days but shes home now and fine.

Have a great evening!

Heather - when DH is gone - I don't eat enough calories - maybe we could compromise. When will he be back?

Day one AGAIN here - when will I make it through a weekend successfully. I had a plan and apparently it blew out the window.

Hi girls. It's the end of my first day on my version of Medifast. I did okay. I'm calling "my version" because I do not want to go below 1200 calories per day, so the Medifast shakes are helping me stay away from eating a lot during the day and I can stick to wise choices for dinner. My choices. Still staying with the lean and green concept for dinner, but I like more veggies than they say to have (three 1/2 cup servings). And if I drop the calories down too much, I get really tired after working out.

I had gained back 13 lb since my last recorded weigh in, managed to drop 9 lb by restricting calories, but it was really tough. I'm tired of working so hard at this and not making serious headway. My total daily calorie expenditure is around 2500 calories. If I'm eating half that, I should lose 2.5 lb/week. That's a rate I'd be happy with!

Default Good morning!

good morning ladies, how is it going ? Not a lot going on here yet, it is too early.

I have noticed that it is much cooler this morning, and that is nice! I should get outside and try to pull some weeds. The flower beds are looking a little sad. My DH planted four tomato plants in the flower bed behind the wall of the patio, and they have grown taller than the wall. I think one of them has 16 tomatoes on it right now. He has them tied to the brick wall with some red strips of material. LOL! It looks awful to me, but I am not saying a thing. The tomato plants in the garden are drying up. I noticed that the squash plants look a little yellow too. We got our first eggplant yesterday. So how does your garden grow??

Ruby, the cleaning went well, but today I am not wanting to do zilch! I think I have enough to keep me busy, but thank you for the invite.

I think I will play games for awhile and then I might actually do something constructive. to all, Ruth

Georgia -- Just remember that weight loss isn't linear, and just because we think we're supposed to lose at a certain weight does not mean our bodies will agree. Sadly, our bodies set the rules... It sounds like you have a good plan!! Can you find some other outcomes to look at in addition to weight loss? Such as counting days on plan? Or fitness goals? I find it helps to have some things to pay attention to in addition to the scale.

I had a good day yesterday. Today I am going to try to cut back on my evening snack. That has been a downfall lately. I think I will let myself have some fruit, but nothing else. Which means I have to distract myself in the evening after dinner so I don't stuff my face!

Hey Gals!
Where is everyone today? I hope you are all having a healthy and great day! I've had a pretty darn good day. Food has been wonderful...just have to fend off the evening munchies. I had a great cardio workout. I really pushed myself tonight and realized that I need to push myself harder. Lately my cardio workouts have been a little half-hearted. I felt awesome after tonight's workout!

Tomorrow we have friends arriving and they will be here until Monday so you may not see a lot of me until then. I will be keeping up my workouts and doing my best with the challenging food situations I will face. Luckily a lot of the meals will be here on our new grill so I can easily cook healthy options! I'm looking forward to having friends around. I'm feeling very lonely and distant from DH these days. Maybe a little chaos in the house will be good.

It's about time to put the little guys to bed. I'll catch you fabulous ladies later!

So how is everyone doing with Terri's challenge this week? I have done well giving up my baked chips at lunch so far.

Tomorrow my trainer is changing up the routine in a big way in an attempt to burn more fat - apparently the idea is to heat up the body with weight/resistance workout then cardio - keeps the burn going since your heartrate is already up. She said it will be remarkable results - I'm excited.

DH is out of town the next two nights - it's been a nice evening just hanging out with the pups. The labradoodle is starting to pace - she must think it's time for dad to show up.

Lilion - where are you? We miss you!
