Question Patronizing behavior with more petite body.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but do males in your life behave more protectively around you as you get smaller. I mean from my husband purchasing mace and warning me to be more alert as someone could easily take advantage of me and my smaller frame to my coworker taking it upon himself to contact the Helpdesk when I got the blue screen of death this week despite my already having done so. I acknowledge that it's nice to be worried about and helped but it makes me feel like I was out there fending for myself 50 lbs ago. Maybe I am just looking for a reason to complain but it just seemed odd to me.

Well poor little old you! How dare you go out walkin around without a male escort! Well I might just get the vapors and faint straight away! (fans herself)

No seriously, you probably aren't imagining it. I think that people act strange as their perception of you changes. What your husband doesn't know is that if a man wanted to take advantage of you 50 lbs ago, it would probably be easier, as you likely were not as fit then, and wouldn't have been able to fight back as hard. Now you can kick the guy in his goods and run like ****. As far as the new help in the office, I say take advantage of it. Let that guy do as much as he wants, while you prop your pretty little feet up.... mwahahahaaaaa.......

People have been acting like that towards me as well. It annoys the crapola out of me LOL I've always been more than independent always fending for myself and now all of a sudden I'm a "damsel in distress" to everyone around me, as if I'm weak, as if I'm unable to do anything by myself without breaking my bones LOL .

I don't mind it all that much as much as it annoys me, because if I can feel like a princess once in a while (especially when I don't feel like doing something) and you make yourself a volunteer, then please, be my guest! lol

Thanks ladies. I didn't think I was imagining it. I just wear more shirts with my awesome biceps out.
