Hi there, hello!
I'm Katie - soon to be a 30 something. In less than a month, on 12/11 to be exact, I'll be 30.. lol... But I guess that's okay, there's no stopping it! Might as well enjoy the ride!
A little about me:
I've been larger since I was 9/10. Looking back I can tell I used food as a way to deal with life-related-problems, most notably my mother's illness. (She had lupus, congestive heart failure, scleroderma, Raynaud's, diabetes... among other things.) I didn't have a normal childhood, my parents didn't think they could even have children. I wasn't ever really treated as a child would be, I had an opinion and a say in everything - at least that's what they led me to believe!
My mom passed away in June of 2006 and I really didn't set out, lol, to use food as a way to soothe that loss. Anyone who's lost a parent after a lengthy illness (or at all) can understand the grief that seems overwhelming at times.. doing it at a fresh 24 wasn't ideal!
I met my husband - at work, lol - 6 months after my mom passed. 11 months after that we were engaged, and in October of 2008 we married! As my MIL says, we moved too fast, but she's the only one that feels that way! When it's right, it is, why wait?!
Anyways, I work for a utility company and have for almost 8 years now. Like I said, no kids yet, I'm trying to get healthy before that happens. I'm terrified that I will develop some sort of illness and my kids will have to loose me too soon, so I'm doing my best to prevent ANY complications! And I want to look darn good in clothing!! LOL.
ANYwho, that's my story, weird as it may be... It's nice to meet you!! Maybe I'll fit in here more than I did at the 20 something's board.. I was never "young" (having to deal with too much too soon makes you grow up fast!) and I can't relate to people my own age a lot of times.. Hopefully I'll workout here!!

I'm sorry to hear about everything you had to deal with growing up about your mom's health. That is a lot for a little one to deal with. I'm so happy you have found your hubby and if it felt right to you, then why wait? Life's too short!
