For the 30-somethings...give me your list!

I love Trader Joe's and Sprouts as well as Whole Foods but I live out in the boonies so trips to these stores are a rare splurge (when I don't have my kids going - lets go home).

I would love for you all to post your favorite finds at these stores.

I will say I hit a TJ's here this past Sunday and was shocked at how much I bought for $22- mind you I was in and out of there in 10minutes!

Some of my finds:
Figs (can't get these at any local grocery store and if I were to find them they would be triple the $2.99 price that TJ's had them for!)
TJ's brand 0% Plain Greek Style Yogurt (16oz tub- LOVE it)
Fried Plaintain Chips (girls had them in Florida freaked out when they saw them!)
TJ's Brand style Oreo's (Joe Joe's)- All Natural (for the girls)
TJ's Organic Spinach
TJ's Bag of Romaine Salad Mix

I so wanted to spend more time but the girls were dying to get out and it was quite packed!

Can't wait to hear what you guys buy!:D

Sadly, there are no Trader Joe's in my area....:(

Good luck!

Trader Joe's:
Fruit leather
Sweet Potato Fries (frozen)
Frozen Buffalo Burgers (both plain and the one with white cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and onions)
Single serving packs of nuts
Pesto (next to the spaghetti)
Pita Chips
Frozen Veggies
Tabbouleh
Tilapia Citronette (frozen section)

And of course, two buck chuck :D They've got some really good wines besides the $2 buck chuck. But for two dollars, you can't beat it :)

I'm a big TJ fan!!!

Frozen Brown Rice in Freezer section (serves 3) -- between me and m husband, we can't really over eat it since, there is only enough for 3-- perfect! I try to make my portion smaller than his.

Frozen stir fry veggies
edemame (sp)
whole wheat lavosh
hummus
wasabi peas
And totally not diet friendly: Frozen Choco Chip Cookies BUT-- they are portioned out ,so you can bake just 1 or 2 and not eat them all??? :)

OH, Az has even cooler options than TJ's or Whole Foods, fresh n easy is neat, but I'm all about the Farmer's markets!!!! Plus, do you know of Bountiful Baskets? If you aren't a picky eater, this is a good way to get a bunch of fruit and veggies for $16.50 after your first basket fee of $3 is paid making your first trip $19.50. It started off really small with like 12 spots for pick up, and has now spread into Utah, Washington and coming soon Oregon and Indiana! IT's fantastic...Anyway, go to Yelp.com and search on Bountiful Baskets...see if it's something you want to try...
Here is their link to order, you have to order by wednesday, then you pick up you fruit and veggies at the location of your choice on Saturday mornings.

Also, the downtown public market is year round. I've been once and was blown away by all the vendors that come and the selection of veggies, bread, salsa, hummus, honey, etc I could get.
Here is the LinK:

Here is the Info:
When:
Year-Round
rain or shine

Wednesdays

Saturdays

Where:

SE Corner of Central Ave. & McKinley St.
(2 blks S of Roosevelt)

Also there is a farmers market at Roadrunner park (SR51 & Cactus Road, east) I haven't checked that one out, but I hear it's much bigger than the one down town. I'm in Laveen, but I love getting out of the house on Saturday to go to Farmers market, even if you dont buy anything it's so worth the experience!

:-)

If you get NaturePath Granola, they're cheaper at TJ :)

The cheese selection is fun.

Some decent prepared (refrigerated, not frozen) meals when you're lazy - I like the Tofu Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce; Pear Gorgonzola Salad; and Lentil Wraps with Tahini Sauce.

Frozen wild blueberries, frozen mango, and frozen strawberries, all unsweetened.

Definitely the TJ brand Greek yogurt :).

I don't buy milk anymore, but when I did, TJ had the best prices.

I've just moved to a place with a Trader Joe's so I'm still figuring out the good stuff. So far I've found:

* Pork tenderloin with the American Heart Association seal of approval, sold by the pound but typically around $5 each
* individual frozen spinach lasagna - only $2 and 300 calories
