Hot flashes

  • Not sure if I'm in the right section but here is my story :

I'm 29 but sometimes I feel like I'm 50 and about to have my menopause.
It's been like this for years now, I get hot flashes without notice.
My mother does, but come on, SHE has her menopause... it's kinda normal

But as for me, I get hot flashes when I drink alcohol, but I mean it starts right after I start drinking. 2 minutes after BAM!!!!! My face becomes red, I sweat heavily, my head is very hot and my upper body is too.

I also get it without any reason, but it's more rare.

Do you guys have an idea what it might be, except from the fact that I'm overweight, I know it must not help, but is there any condition that gives a lady hot flashes???

I want to ask about it to my Dr, but it's very complicated to see her and I need to find answers before I meet her because here in Quebec (Canada) the medical system is free and sometimes they dont really care about your problems if it's not too bad

    Thank you xxx
  • I occasionally get that when I'm drinking. I splash some cool water on my face and then I'm good for the rest of the evening. I really think it has to do with the weight.
  • I was thinking maybe it's blood pressure?
But everytime I go to the Dr, it's A perfect, same thing when I try the machines at the drugstore... o_0
  • Willa, you can check with your doctor, but it's not that uncommon if it's related to drinking alcohol. Some people lack an enzyme that's normally responsible for the breakdown of alcohol. It's more common is Asians. My daughter has a friend who cannot tolerate alcohol because of it. You can read about it here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_flush_reaction

Also the tyramine or histamine in fermented alcoholic beverages (beer, sherry, wine) and some aged cheese and processed foods may cause flushing in some people. Hope this helps.
  • Thank you for the link!
  • Anyone else???
  • No answers here but I can relate.

From around 10 years and beyond I would be hot. I hated it. I would sweat get flushed then it would pass and come and go with no warning. When I started work I would be drenched with sweat by the time I got home because I was so HOT. Just in the last few years I have been the opposite now I am COLD and I love it. I hardly sweat anymore (maybe I sweat it all out! LOL) I dunno what happened. When I spoke to my DR. she sent me to a specialist but no one could ever figure out why I stayed so hot all the time.
I haven't mentioned being cold to my dr. since they couldn't figure out why I was so hot, then they wouldn't know why I was now COLD.

    LOL

Sounds comical to read what I just wrote but I swear it's true.
  • Kinda sounds like aniexty attacks also.
  • Anxiety attacks???
