I had waited months to get into see a surgeon, so I lost weight when I couldn't eat anything because of the gallbladder attacks. After it was removed, I did gain back about 10lbs. But that was because I was so excited to be able to eat real food again and food with fat in it, that I went a bit overboard. But after 6 months of waiting for surgery I felt justified. What a good excuse! Really, I should have just stuck to eating well and I wouldn't have had an issue.

Good luck with your recovery!!

I had my gallbladder remove in Dec of 98 and I too had to wait about 2 months to get it out. Those attacks were horrible so at least that is behind you. I have put on quite a bit of weight since I had my gallbladder out, but I don't really know if I can blame it all on the gallbladder removal. I think the way I was eating and not exercising has alot to do with it and I have had 2 babies since then.

The only real problem that I have had with it is that fatty foods tend to go right through me...if you know what I mean. When I asked the doctor he said that is normal. So be close to a stool for a while till your body can adjust.

Good luck to you.

Darn, I saw the doc on a Monday and they took mine out that Saturday. First opening they could make mine was so bad. Was something I will never regret. The pain was terrible.

I never put any weight on but have to careful about what I eat. Sometimes have the same pains, it seems, as I had before. Fatty foods really trigger it.

My husband had his gallbladder removed almost 3 weeks ago, and is still not doing very well. He still has trouble eating and is in pain. Is this normal?

Discomfort can depend on the person. Can also depend on how the surgery was done. I would say check with his surgeon. I had to see mine two weeks after the surgery so he knew everyone was ok.

Was his done with laser or the old fashion way. Although all people heal differentally the way the surgery was done also goes into how they heal. But remember either way you should talk to his doctor about it.
