I used to take the small cans of Dole pineapple slices or pineapple chunks (the ones in their own juice) and keep them in the freezer. When I was ready for a nice frozen treat, I'd just take one out and eat them with a spoon! Yum! A delicious frozen treat that's healthy.

I think you'll love it if you try it!

I would also do this with the little tiny cans of Dole pineapple juice -- turns out like a frozen sorbet.

They take a while to eat, too b/c of being frozen, so it lasts a while, and keeps you busy for those munchie moments.

this may sound weird ... but its been helping me

put your non-dairy fat free whipped topping in the freezer ... it hardens it a little

i usually have a scoop of that with fresh fruits or berries .... the solidness of it remind me of ice cream

i also swear by skinny cow products ...when i need an ice cream cone to taste and look like an ice cream cone

Ice Cream is also my downfall. I can eat an entire half gallon without blinking. I have incorporated it into my life. On Saturdays I allow myself an entire pint of whatever ice cream I want, no guilt. I pay for it by eating a few less calories throughout the week but it is soooo worth it knowing that on Saturday, I can have that two cups. I am not that girl who can eat just half a cup every day...I need to have alot! lol You need to find what works for you but if you say you can't ever have it again you are setting yourself up for failure...Imo..So, eat lower calorie versions, frozen yogurt, or pick a day to treat yourself every week or every month...whatever works for you. Good luck in your journey!!!

Honestly, I would switch it to another less caloric treat such as sf jello... or cottage cheese with sf syrup
IC is my downfall too

I toooootally do the whipped topping thing that was suggested.. I psyche myself out Blue Bunny makes these "personal" treats now. Its actually 2 servings ( learned that the hard way) but its wont allow you to over eat too much

Hey, I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the Weight Watchers Giant Chocolate Fudge ice cream bars. The numbers are awesome: 110 calories, 1 gram of fat, 5 grams of fiber, 4 grams of protein. They taste great and aren't a bad hit, so you might be able to actually have ice cream every so often.

I buy regular popcicle brand fudge pops all the time. That is my little treat I allow myself. They only have 60 calories per bar{smaller size, not the bigger ones} and it helps if I'm craving chocolate. They also have a sugar free one that only has 40 calories, I haven't tried them though.

I found Breyer's Double Churned cookies and cream ice cream cups today - 100 calorie pack ice cream! I am in heaven! They are tasty and portion controlled.

Make it yourself! No no, not the real thing. But I promise you, this tastes just like strawberry ice cream:

Take a couple cups of frozen strawberries and blend them with a cup or so of skim milk. Add a little lemon, maybe a little honey. I use an immersion hand blender (my regular blender doesn't seem to work too well with it). Because the berries are frozen, it really does have that ice cream-y consistency. It takes just a couple minutes and is so delicious -- and it's much, much healthier for you than some of the other alternatives!

Desiderata, I'll give that a try. It sounds like a really good milk shake type of thing.

Default Strawberry Shake

Desiderata,
I made the strawberry shake thing last night. The first one I missed your recommendation about adding honey----oh! was it TART! The second one I added some sweetener and it was FABOO! Thanks for the tip and my new dessert snack.

Glad you liked it, Kylie! I keep telling myself how much more I'm going to appreciate it once the weather gets hot.

Default Suggestion

Hi there love,

late at night when i usually want something sweet (who am i kidding, sugar is my constant temptation)...I do one of about 3 options. 1. I freeze those fat free 90 calorie chocolate pudding cups and scrape at them. they take longer to eat and so in that time, i feel like i got a treat. ice cream goes down so fast! 2. I freeze a coffee or chocolate flavored soy milk and scrape it with a spoon since it's the same way and tends to take a lot longer to eat the same size. you can sprinkle it with chai instant coffee topping too and it sounds odd, but is yummy! even a few grape nuts on tops makes it crunchy and good! 3. i buy and freeze a light juice that i like, like cran-grape, or Minute Maid Orange Tangerine (15-40 calories per cup)...and freeze it in cups then scrape away...it's really, really good! just a few ideas for you......

love,
Wingedthing
