I am pretty old school but love calorie counting. I count my nuts and measure and weigh my foods. I write it down in a spiral and that's all there is to it. I use Daily Plate or Calorie King to look up calories in different foods. It is a little trying at first but pretty soon you start memorizing how many calories are in everything.

I use sparkpeople.com- very easy!

And if you go to sparkrecipes.com and try their recipes you can import it into your sparkpeople

There are lots of websites that will keep track of your calories for free. I personally use fitday, but I would say look around and find what you like best.

I use the calorie counting book that Jillian gives to her team. It helps me to memorize certain foods I eat often and what is an appropriate portion.

How many calories equals weight loss? Is 1600 calories too much? Should I start at 1200??

I use the trusty pen and pad method. Online is fine and I have done it, but for me I like the old pen and pad as I can carry it with me and don't have to be online. I like Calorie King Fat and Carbohydrate Counter for calorie counts . It also has fast food, restaurants, ethnic food and loads of other info.

If you're happy with your weight loss on Weight Watcher's, you can translate your WW points into calories, fairly easily (it's a rough estimate, but it works pretty well as a starting point, and you can adjust from there).

Take your number of daily points and then multiply the number by 50.

Does Weight Watcher's still give you optional points to spend? And do you use them?

If so then use the number of points you use per day (or 1/7 the alottment for the week) and multiply that by 50, and add to the number you got above.

I have been using fitday.com for about a week now and I love it! It helps me get a clue on what I have actually been eating. It translates it all into simple charts of proteins, fats, and carbs. It helped me realize that I have been relying too much on carbs and have not been getting enough protein! It tracks vitamins as well. And it shows your progress over what you have eaten compared to how many calories you have burned. It's all customized. Plus, I have to think about food before I eat it- are those jelly beans really worth having to sign in and log them? Cuts down on my junk food anyways...

I used to use fitday.com but changed to Fitday PC so I don't have to be online to do it.
