Angry No no no no no...please not a plateau ALREADY! What is going on????!

So...I haven't lost any weight so far this week. What is going on?? My weigh in day is Wednesday...but I've been losing pretty consistently since I started and was just starting to feel my momentum. I haven't cheated or done anything on my diet. What is going on? Is it possible that I'm hitting a plateau already? Say it aint so! What do you do to "jump start" your system? Help!

plateau's usually don't consist of not losing in one week. But not losing in MANY weeks. Take for example, I have lost 8 pounds since Feb and am bouncing those same 8 pounds around currently.

Is it about to be your TOM? That is always a culprit for me to not lose a thing one week, or even gain a couple pounds cause I'm holding onto fluid.

Keep up the good work!

ya, I'd call it a plateau when its been a few weeks and you are pulling your hair out by the fistful. If you've been losing consistently its probably just a bit of body playing catch up.

I agree on the plateau being more like three weeks at least. When I first started losing the weight would come off more consistently, then it started coming off in little chunks where I wouldn't lose for a couple of weeks and just when I was really getting frustrated I would lose three pounds. It takes determination to stick to your plan, but that is what will make you successful. Be persistent and don't give in to the feelings of frustration.

Weight loss is not linear. You can do the same exact thing 4 weeks in a row and get 4 different results. No rhyme. No reason. Perfectly normal. Another one here who doesn't believe that you're experiencing a plateau. No. Doesn't sound like one. I mean it's not even a week, right? A non-induced plateau would be more like you haven't lost, though stayed firmly on plan for 2 - 3 weeks - at least.

Hang tight. Keep on sticking with that plan - faithfully and the pounds WILL come off once again. You'll see. And then you will realize that these things are just part of the journey.

I didn't lose this week either.

sigh.

It happens from time to time. I actually believe it is just water--and the effects of being horribly inconsistent with my exercise.

Look back carefully, see if there's anything you can do. How much exercise are you doing? I'm not asking in order to tell you to do more, not at all. Sometimes doing too much can stress the body and make it retain water. (or so I've read.)

thanks ladies. i don't mean to sound ungrateful ....I just didn't think the loss would stop so suddenly. I guess I'll wait another couple weeks before I start complaining. =)
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to drink a lot of water the next couple days...maybe I'm just dehydrated...or maybe this is just part of the journey.
You gals are the best! thanks.

My body does the same thing. I will go for 3 weeks of losing weight consistantly and the all of a sudden nothing for a week or if any like a couple of ounces. I just stick with my plan then my body adjusts and it starts to come off again.

Some people lose in "wooshes" too. Nothing for a week or two and then BAM! 3lbs gone the next week.
