Question heart rate question

So I'm a little confused. Ya know how on the treadmills and ellipticals they'll have the range of heart rates that you should hit for your age? But that if you're a lower percentage of your max heart rate that's better for fat burn and if you're maxing your HR that's better for cardio? So I'm trying to lose weight...do I want to be in the higher end or lower end? If I don't get my heart rate up real good then I feel like I'm not getting a good work out. Any thoughts??

Higher heart rate burns more calories. Burning more calories is what you want. This whole 'lower heart rate burns more fat' thing doesn't make sense to me. You burn more calories and create a bigger deficit, lose more weight.

Google, or search on here, for 'the fat burning zone myth' and it will explain it much better than I can right now.
