Default Tzatziki Sauce

I've known this for years as the sauce on my gyros. It's great for so much more, though!

It's a Greek cucumber garlic yogurt dip. Pretty low calorie. You can buy it at the store or make your own. You want to use the Greek yogurt, which is thicker. I've strained my regular yogurt before to be thick enough.

Sometimes it's nice to just spread a pita with tzatziki as my snack. I put it on my baked potato - nothing else, just this. It works well as a veggie dip. I need to make up another batch soon - mmmm. You could use it as a sandwich spread.

What else do you like to use tzatziki on?

I love to load it with fresh mint, and use it as a topping for grilled chicken. I also use it as a salad dressing when I want something thicker than usual.

Falafel! My housemate and I made falafel a few weeks ago (from a box mix, and baked it instead of frying) and she suggested also making tzatziki. Yum!

Mmmm, tzatziki. I know sometimes I see it @ Whole Foods but I wish I could find it at a supermarket a little closer to home. Sometimes when my mom goes out to dinner with her bunch they go to a Greek place (haven't been there for a long time though) and she brings back gyros with a little cup. She-ez, why don't they have that in little jars or tubs, maybe not in the regular salad-dressing or dairy section but in the dairy or refrigerated-dressing section???

Another, you should make it, it is super easy to make. I make it with soy yogurt which definitely isn't as thick as strained yogurt (and soy yogurt doesn't seem to strain well).
