Trip day one: on track
I'm travelling for five days, and I have been worried about whether it would be hard to stay on plan.
Day one is finished and no problem! I don't eat out often, so I was surprised to find the grilled tilapia at Applebees was perfect at 310 cals. Then, a first for me, EVER, I walked right into the hotel fitness room and stepped on the treadmill right next to the buff guy and worked out.
Only downer was I stepped on the fitness room scale which weighed me 7 pounds heavier than home-- but I think my home scale is right.
Am really starting to feel like these new habits are getting to seem more like me.
And the nicest thing? It's the first time I've ever packed for a trip where I knew that everything in my closet fit and would look good. It was so much less stressful than usual!!!!

Congrats!! Eating right and working out while on a trip are definitely a downfall of mine - I am planning a little trip around Thanksgiving, and am planning to bring food with me! And working out next to a buff guy? Brave! And I might be a little jealous, looking at some hot, buff guy is definitely how I like to spend my workout time Keep it up! Now that you are FIRMLY into the 240's, you can't slip up and get close to 250! (side note, working my butt off over here to join you soon!)

Nicely done.
I'm impressed by braving it out with the buff guy.

Congrats! I hate having other people choose where I eat at business meals so I usually try to look up places and make suggestions. Whether they take the suggestions or not is one thing Most restaurants tend to be mediocre and so it is actually easy for me to choose something simple and be happy with it. My motto is why waste the calories on something I don't really like?

Just checked into my next hotel, and thankfully, it's a suite with a little kitchenette...
so far, so good, but tomorrow start the endless meetings with millions of danishes and sandwiches...

ubergirl - you can resist!! You are stronger than those danishes! Ask for some yogurt or fruit, explain that you have a wheat allergy.. everyone responds well to that! I have to admit I pull the allergy thing more often than I should... but it counts as an allergy if the food does bad things to my body right? hehe.. Be strong girl!!

Thanks swimgirl...
I'm hanging in there but I HATE trying to manage without my own food habits.
this morning I had 1/4 of a bagel and fruit for breakfast, and for lunch a turkey sandwich from which I removed one of the pieces of bread to make up for the fact that it was slathered with mayo.
If I were home, I could skip the mayo and eat the bread. Darn.

Sounds like you are making some great choices though! I am impressed because I think I'd go totally off plan. I am catching up to you btw, down to 254...

Yay.
I'm doing okay on choices but we went out to an ethiopian restaurant tonight... I ordered sensible veggie choices but I was SO HUNGRY that I ate a lot...
I think I stayed more or less withing my calories, but who knows?

You're doing the best you can, right?
No one--not even you--can ask yourself to do better than that!
Just look at the Danishes for what they are: big pools of lard and coloured sugar.
That's all.

Thanks guys! I'm still hanging in here. I CAN'T WAIT to go home! Today, not bad so far-- fruit for breakfast and half a grilled veggie wrap with salad and fruit for lunch.
Next up, a banquet... I'm sure it's going to be awful... Not worried that I'll be tempted to stray-- more worried that I'll come home hungry.

You really are doing SO well! I'm impressed.
A small snack of nuts might help with the hunger. Can you get to a grocery at all and get some apples, or something?
Drink lots of water, remember, it'll help keep you full.
Hope you are home soon!
