Default How long do your workout sessions last?

I just started back school this semester and during the summer I didnt take classes. So I was going to the gym more often but working out for about an hour for five times each week.

Well now that schools back in I cant do that anymore and Im planning on working out three days a week for two hours each session. In my mind I know that as long as I get a good amount of hours in each week I will progress along with watching my eating habits. Im just so comfortable with taking different classes as oppose to doing treatmill or eliptical. So for those of you who workout for longer sessions like two hours or maybe more what type of workouts are you doing.....I am just curious thanks in advance!

Hi Matilda08!

I think to exercise is always great!!! Since you do it one way or another.
There is this threat that talk a bit about exercise and frequency.
Eileen2bLean put it so clear and easy. I though it would be great for you to know about it too.
Hope it can help.
Good luck!!!

I usually do two workouts a day, one before work and one after. I only work out an hour to 75 minutes a day total, but I do it six days a week. On the days I spin in the evenings, I do a cardio circuit video in the morning (like Shape Bikini Boot Camp or Jillian's 30-Day Shred). On the days I do circuit in the evening (weights and treadmill sprints), I do yoga in the morning (usually Biggest Loser yoga because it's short enough to do before work).

On the weekends I change it up with hiking or yardwork sometimes, but there's always a spin routine on Saturdays and circuit on Sunday.

I do Jazzercise three days a week which is one hour long each time. On my off days I do an hour of cardio of some sort....WAWTP, biking, power walking.

I do weights 3 times a week for 45 minutes then do a half hour of cardio afterwards. On my off days I try to get anywhere between 30-45 minutes of cardio but it varies how many days I'm able to get to the gym to do just cardio. Hope this helps!!

i strive to go 4 times a week, but it's usually 3. I usually do 80-90 min total (30 cardio, 30 weights, 20-30 different cardio). But if I'm really tired I just do 60 min (30 cardio, 30 weights)

The cardio i do is elliptical (this is ususally my 1st cardio), recumbent bike (this is usually my last cardio), and run/walk on treadmill (just recently added this in, sometime I do it before weights, sometimes after)

I haven't tried any classes at my new gym (ymca), but at my old gym (student rec center) the classes kicked my a**! I usually didn't have energy for other exercise after a 50 min class. Oh, and occasionally I swim. I'll swim for like 1.5-2hrs but not do anything else.

I work out 5 days a week...a 30 minute run on the treadmill in the morning and then it's either additional cardio or weight training for another 20-30 mins after I put my 3 year old down for her nap

Today I did spin class (1 hour) followed by my very first ever yoga class (1 hour). I liked that combo, I felt really good afterward. I usually try to break things up more though. I will do a Jillian DVD in the morning and elliptical in the evening or spin class in the morning and a Jillian DVD at night. According to my body bugg I burn more calories total when I do it that way.

Outside of working out, I'm not at all physically active. So, on plan, I work out every single day. I do a minimum of 30 minutes a day, 7 days a week and most days I do an hour. I do 30 minutes of cardio or aerobic activity at any point during the day (usually the morning or early evening) and I call this "The 30 minute Gift to myself" with the rationale that the least I can do for this one body I have is to take at least 30 minutes out of my day to do something that benefits it and still have the remaining 23.5 to do whatever else I do. I usually end up doing another 30-45mins of yoga, pilates or resistance work before bed, but that's bonus.

I like this concept, toasted smoke!

I personally have found just walking 30 mins everyday to be really helpful. (Because it's easier when I have a concrete goal, I make this walking home from work. Helps me detox from the day, too!)

Hmm. You gals are inspiring me to try to do more...

I do thirty minutes of treadmill or thirty minutes of swimming 4-5 days a week.
