Default Parental controls--for food ads?

Does anyone else wish that there was a kind of parental control thing to block food ads on tv? Even the weight loss ones, just get rid of them all! I'm so sick of them!

I'm not a parent, so this isn't for my child. I live alone. I just hate all of the food ads on tv, they either disgust me, or they make me want to eat eat eat (which is what they're supposed to do). I imgine if there's something that can block certain content, we had the technology to do this!

I never watch commercials anymore because so many of them are food "porn." Now, I DVR all of my shows and fast forward through the commercials. Another plus was enjoying a stress free election campaign and not seeing those slandering commercials!

You have control over what you watch.
I got rid of my tv years ago.
I do have a 42" screen for my computer.
everything I watch is online. I watch what I want when I want with almost 20 minutes less comercials.

Some shows do have comercials but it will be maybe 3-5 30 second commercials. Most hour long tv shows average around 42 minutes online.

Chuck the cable, hook your computer up to your tv. Its better and cheaper!

Food porn.. LOL .. I love that term! And YES.. I wish there were a way to block all food & diet ads. Especially on my kids channels - we are trying to eat healthy around here.. we don't need commercials about the latest sugar-filled cereal!! And.. I don't need my 6 year old telling me I should try Nutrisystem all the time. lol She is a sweetie, but enough with the Nutrisystem ads already. (probably a good program for some people, but tooooo much advertising)

Aren't hour-long programes usually 48 minutes on normal TV anyway? 4 ad breaks of 3 minutes each would round that up to an hour.

I love it, food porn. I would never get rid of my TV, I couldn't deal! I'm a grad student, and sometimes after a day of being all intellectual and scholarly, I just need to plop out in front of the tub.

Right after I posted the original thread, I was in my car and saw a bus ad with a HUGE burger on it...so even getting rid of TV doesn't get rid of all food porn!

We haven't had the television hooked up to anything for years. We can't even get local service--reception is bad! We'd have to put one of those old ariels on the roof!

Nope. dvds are allowed as is You-tube--and even then it seems like too much going on!
