Default Caltrate D?

I found chewable Caltrate D today .. does anyone if this is an acceptable for your calcium supplement? It isn't on my list of stuff (which I had forgotten to take with me)

Isn't Caltrate calcium carbonate? Post-WLS, you want to take calcium in citrate form because it is more easily absorbed and requires less stomach acid to process. It is also less likely to contribute to the formation of kidney stones.

I just looked them up they are calcium carbonate.

WLS patients need calcium CITRATE....

i have to say that finding calcium that works for us is one of my worst nightmares.

yes, Jilly. Carbonate is the least absorbable form. BUT i'm figuring that, since the Caltrates are chewables, the absorption is better than in a tablet [which i can't swallow].

Yup. Or you can get calcium citrate in liquid, chewable, or capsule forms.

I will have to double check with my surgeon. That is what they told me to take and I just purchased a 150 pill bottle.
