Default one minute at a time

As I lay in bed waiting for the alarm to go off this morning, I had made up my mind to stop at the bakery for a 1/2 doz donuts. This has been a horrible week, and I have been pretty down on myself. I haven't had donuts in months, I wanted those donuts....and I could have the entire half dozen eaten by the time I went from the bakery to the office. Glazed, cinnamon twists. I got close to the bakery, there was plenty of parking....and I drove right by.
It's only 10:20 am here on the west coast, so there is plenty of day left. But for now....I'm winning today's battle.

Jeez! I am so proud of you! I have a very hard time winning those types of battles when it has been one of THOSE weeks. Here's to winning one for all of us! Cheers!

Fantastic! Good for you!

The donut drive has often been one of my demons...Resisting it is a great feat.

Great job. Just great. I'm sorry for the lousy week, but I'm fairly certain that those donuts would have made matters worse - not better. When you're having a horrible week or day, the best thing we could do is to treat ourselves well. There is nothing well to be gotten from those donuts.

Go get yourself a nice juicy peach, a box of fresh blueberries, a scrumptious salad, a manicure, a bunch of flowers, a new hair accessory.

Awesome!!! All those "minutes" of making good decisions add up in a very good way.

That is great! It's nice when you start to think that way, I've done it on half a dozen occasions lately and it feels like a great milestone to accomplish! So way to go!

Good job!

I had a similar experience today. I was at the grocery store and EVERYTHING seemed to be calling to me. I mean, it usually does, but it was worse today. Somehow, a box of those little Swiss rolls wound up in my basket, and I purchased them.

It wasn't a failure though! I made myself put them in the truck so I wouldn't eat them in the car. And I only brought one packet into the house. So I think that it will be controlled. They'll stay in the car, and since they last forever, I'll have a treat from time to time, count them in my day, all is well. If I wind up not being able to handle having them in my car, I'll throw them away. I'd rather not waste them, which is why I didn't throw them away immediately, but if it comes to that I'm prepared to cover them with dish washing liquid.

Awesome!!!!

I have had to talk myself out of stupid purchases a lot lately. If only I could talk myself out of the spoonfuls of peanutbutter I'd be doing great!

Great job. Some days you just have to go minute by minute, but whether you count it in minutes, hours, days, weeks or months, it's still doing it and that's a huge accomplishment.

You did amazingly. Some days minute by minute, choice by choice, is all you can manage. That's okay! I agree, treat yourself to some delicious healthy food or pampering and soldier on

I think you did great. You are my inspiration for the day.
I have been there and reeved myself up to make a bad decision, only to call it off at the last minute. I know how you feel and I think you are fantastic. I hope everything gets better for you. You need to look at this as one of the positive things that has happened lately and build on it.
