Default Anyone here use a trac phone?

Has anyone here ever used a trac phone?

I'm 30 y/o and have no cell phone. Some people are mystified by that. I'm looking at getting one simply for emergencies and for short calls, like "I'm going to be late", "I'm lost" etc... not having the thing attached to my face all my waking moments.

I've read online about trac phones and found mixed reviews.
I just want it for a phone, not to take pictures, play music or allow me to access the internet...

I'm curious about the experiences anyone has had with them...

thanks

I have a Tracfone. I've had it about 4 years now. Bought it on Ebay and have a plan with Tracfone where they update my minutes every month with 50 minutes & 30 days of continued service for $9.99 a month. You can cancel anytime with no cancellation fee's.
I use the phone when I travel & for emergencies only. I've never had a problem using it on Greyhound or Amtrak....when others with Verizon or other carriers couldn't get a signal.
My experience with Tracfone has been positive & I would recommend it to anyone looking for a prepaid cell phone

I have a trac phone. Yes, I'm a cell phone resister! I have to be on the phone all day for work, and just don't get all that excited about having a cell so that people can reach me ALL the time, ha! But I do like having it just in case, and it's cheap.

So it's not fantastic (I say that as a person who's never had another cell phone), but I do think it's fine for emergencies. You can add time by buying cards from the pharmacy. For some reason, it won't let me make calls to a friend of mine who has a Verizon cell phone (it goes straight to his vm, and his calls to me from his cell to my trac go straight to my vm).

I've had times when it's been difficult to hear what the person is saying, esp if I'm indoors, or if there's alot of noise around me (like traffic).

I have a tracfone and have nothing but good to say for it . Every 90 days I spend $20 to buy more minutes and airtime and I can do it online. I am one who uses it for emergencies or when I am traveling, etc. I have yet to use it while in the check out line at the grocery store or while I am driving. Two of my pet peeves. I would definitely reccomend tracfone.
