Cool Do I need to buy a new scale?

I have been having trouble with my scale. It is a digital type & it is probably about 3 years old, my son used it when he was a wrestler so it was used on a daily basis.

On my regular wt. date last week I showed no loss and I found that strange this early in the game. I've only been working on wt loss for less than a month. So, I thought I'd just step on it again, maybe I was standing off center the first time I stepped on it. Well, it then gave me a different wt. This happened a couple of more times. Then I asked my husband to try it and it did the same thing to him. A different wt each time he stepped on. Less than a 2# gain or loss each time but I don't think that's normal.

Anyway, I got a new battery for the scale yesterday and it did it again this morning. Showed a 2# wt loss the first time then a 1# wt. loss the second time.

Is this normal for a digital scale? Should I just get a new one? At this point in the game the difference between loosing 1# and 2# is monumental to me!

Me personally I do not have this issue with my scale. It's up to you if you feel you need a new one or not- but just a fair warning if it's acting up it MAY be giving you a totally wrong weight so when you get your new one be prepared to weigh more than this old scale says (if you are lucky less).

Is your scale on a flat surface? If you have tiles that are large try to put it on one tile, not split between multiple tiles.

I used to use my scale on carpet. Now I use it on a hard flat surface (like linoleum). I make sure I am balanced on it and not leaning from one side to the other or to the front or back.

If you've gotten any water on it (e.g., if it's near the shower in the bathroom), I'd suggest getting a new scale. Mine got wet and the weights it displayed were way out of whack.

I just ordered that scale, too. I'm tired of wondering if my scale is accurate.

I have this style and have found it to be within 2 lbs of doctors and has minimal multistep differences.

You know what? I think I'm going to order that scale as well... I too am seriously tired of getting my hopes up, then dashed, because of my analog scale. Blah.

Hmm....

I have the exact same problem. I have a digital scale and it's giving me a three to four pound range up and down. It's on a flat firm surface, so that's obviously not the problem.

I guess I need a new scale two. Every time it pops up two pounds I freak out.

I had an analog scale that was all over the place and I was always having to re-set it to 0. So I got a new scale last week. I just went to target to pick one out. They didn't have a whole lot of variety so I just got the one with the free Biggest Loser sample workout DVD. So far the scales doing fine. Sometimes it will be off if i'm standing weird, but then I'll get off and get on and it's usually good after that (i've tried getting off and on like 5 times in a row to be sure and it stayed consistant). Oh, and the DVD is pretty good too!

I have the biggest loser scale.

I hate it.

I think it only has two sensors instead of four, so if you are leaning a certain way it makes you look like you've gained or lost. it's very picky imo.

hehe You totally should Lottie. I can't believe I just went and spent $30 I wasn't counting on spending..... but I'm seriously tired of the heart attacks that come along with the weight fluctuations and the uncertainty if it's really me losing or gaining the weight or the scale. I hate when I get my hopes up to at seeing a number.... then the next time it's back to being higher. *sigh*

Can't wait to get my new scale now!

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I just need to see a consistent weight. How else do we know if what we're doing is working????
