Default Heading away from goal?

My weight loss has been everything but linear. I use both FridgeGraph and Google 15 to track my weight. I like them both because they give you moving averages.

Today is 2nd day for TOM for me so while I didn't really expect to lose a whole lot (although I did last month during TOM) I didn't expect to gain either.

When logging in to the Google 15 and entering my weight for today (147.2 compared to last weeks 145) it said "DANGER! You are heading away from your goal"!

This is the first time since using that chart that I have received that message. Yesterday was not good for me. I have severe PMS and I was cramping, my back was in knots and I was just fatigued beyond belief. I still forced myself to do day 3 of 30 Day Shred (what a great time to start THAT! lol) and I did my stationary bike for 30 minutes. I usually do my bike twice a day and treadmill twice a day but just couldn't muster the energy for the treadmill. I took in about 1398 calories so I was right on target to hit 1400.

Does anyone else use Google 15? I am not sure if I should be concerned due to this being a moving average and well, nothing moved. I know TOM can throw things off for a few days to a week but the chart for this week looks crazy.

I am usually ecstatic to get TOM two months in a row, very rare for me. But I can't wait for this week to be over. I feel like this is a critical time for me to stay diligent because I am getting closer to goal. It seems like other than the few days I hit 146 and then 145, I have been stuck at 147 for a while.

Don't get all worried about it. I know its hard but you are probably retaining water since its TOM. TOM does crazy things to me but generally a week later I will be back down to where I started before TOM and then drop a few more pounds in quick succession.

I actually hope my crazy scale issues are due to TOM and not me "moving away from goal". I use excel to keep my weely avg weights...and I know how you feel....

lovely graph going down..and NOW...nothing...swings up/ then back/ up then back...so FRUSTRATING.

I hope you feel better, and once you have lost all that water weight you will see the scale being friendly again. Drink your water...as that helps your body lose retained water.

Gee... I'm not sure I'd like a message like that... I know when I'm going up and down--why make it worse with an automated message?

Oh well.

Niecy, I'd like to just say, don't make it harder than it has to be. Two pounds up during TOM is nothing, especially after working out as hard as you have been. I can gain 3 pounds from morning to afternoon without TOM or anything. I guess I breathe too much.

Remember that weight loss is more like a marathon than a sprint... a moderate pace is the key.

Good luck!

Jay

Tami, I HOPE this is what will happen to me. Our beach trip is a couple of weeks away and I really wanted to get at least 2 or 3 more lbs out of the way beforehand. The only good thing about TOM right now is that I don't have to deal with it on vacation! Since I never know from month to month if/when I will get it, I was stressing over that happening.

Jen, you have done such an awesome job so far. Your averages over time still look a lot better than mine

Jay, that was a pretty horrifying message, lol. It was being so nice to me over the last 2 months, telling me great job, on my way to goal. And then it got all mean on me like I did something wrong. I wonder if I drop the 2 lbs and then a couple of more on top of that after TOM is over, will it tell me I am losing too much too soon?

I wouldn't care for that message either. I think it's inappropriate and kind of mean. The line towards the goal is rarely always straight. There are twists and turns. The only, only way to NOT get to ones goal - is if you STOP. Don't stop, keep forging ahead - and you WILL get there. I think you're doing great and I see no danger ahead whatsoever.

Thank you, Robin, for the encouragement

Computers can be so rude! lol

There is absolutely no way I am stopping now. I have invested a lot of time and energy to see this goal through and this is the first time in a loooong time I have felt good about myself.

I owe a lot of thanks to you and the others who remain the voice of reason on this site. Without it, I probably would have given up very early in the game and would have never discovered my own inner strength

As others have already stated, don't let that message deter you or get you down.

As for me, I wish I'd get that error message any time I consider eating something I KNOW I'm not supposed to. As I reach for that doughnut, I get an electrical shock and a big, red warning flashing in front of my face:

SUNSHINE!!! DANGER!!! YOU ARE HEADING AWAY FROM YOUR GOAL!!!

That kind of sounds like the little scale on Wii fitness lol I have the overwhelming urge to punch it when it goes "oohh" in such a disappointed way.

TOM makes me gain between 5-8 pounds and when it's over I go back to normal minus a pound or two. Blah.
