Default 30 Somethings Weekend Chat 7/18 - 7/19

Happy weekend to all you lovely concert going, new job getting, bike riding, running, kid chasing, broccoli salad making, fantastic, dedicated women! You all are such a big part of my weight loss journey, muah!!

Well, yesterday we went on a bike ride and then stopped at the park. The kids had a blast and I got quite the workout pushing the double stroller 2 miles! It was nice to get out of the classroom - we talked about bike safety and got some exercise, so some of that time counts for school time under Health and Phys Ed.

Our 10 year old son is off on another trip with the grand parents for the weekend. Not sure why they didn't want to take our 7 year old - but I didn't ask 'cuz it's the inlaws this time. I told our 7 year old that we would go get some stuff for a manicure and have some girly time together today. Yay!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi All!

Had a lovely evening last night, got to sleep in a bit, but was still up at 8:30-ish. So far today, DH has blown up the microwave and my kitchen radio, and is not outside trying to add on to the deck. I'm scared.

I am watching Giada make white chicken chili...thinking I may go look for the recipe, it looks really yummy!

Have a great day!

Hello all!

I was able to sleep in too. It felt good to be able to wake up without the assistance of an alarm.

Nothing much on my agenda today. My youngest comes home today. He's been with my cousin for about a week. My daughter's happy he's coming home because she missed him. That will last for about a day before he's driving her crazy or she doesn't have time to be bothered. Teenagers!?!?!

Good afternoon!!
We are having a lazy day. It is too hot to do anything outside and since yesterday we spent at a friend's house, the kids are perfectly happy playing in the house. We will probably be stir crazy this evening though and make a trek to town. It is blazing hot though. I always plan on moving at this time of the year.

I ran the furthest I have ever run this morning - 5.2 miles. I think I am actually going to be able to do really do a 10k on Aug 9th. I am still amazed at myself because a year ago I couldn't even run a full minute on the treadmill.

So, this morning my 1 year old found a Sharpie and tattooed herself and her sister all over their legs. I am just lucky it wasn't on the wall or furniture.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Sounds like everyone is having a wild weekend! Love the Sharpie thing- sorry, but it is funny to those of us who don't have to clean them up. LOL!

We're still sick around here. It's a nasty something or other that finally felled my hubs today. Now he knows why I've been so wiped out this week. The kids are fine. Only one kid got this thus far and she's on antibiotics and feeling better. Good thing they can watch out for themselves more these days as I don't have the energy for it today.

The upside is that my weight is dropping like a rock. I'm sure it will come back up a little when I get better which is really too bad because I'm sure loving this 4 pound loss for the week. Sigh. Good things like that don't last.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the message boards and am excited to see how supportive everyone is. I joined to find support and motivation to keep me going as I have been stuck on a plateau for a couple of months. I run 3 days a week and have been slowly adding strength training and yoga into my week. Nutrition has been where I struggle.

Today I went for a long walk and tomorrow morning I am running with my best friend, as we continue to train for a half marathon in September.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

Knicky - I run too and I have been wanting to add strenth training but I don't really have a clue as to where to begin. I do yoga at least once a week. I try to go twice a week, but scheduling is hard. Half marathon? WOW!! I am impressed. I've been training for a 10k and it's been challenging.

Hi all. I used to be on this site and in this support group. Then I sort of fell off the wagon. Well, I am here again for support and to show myself I can do this. I am going grocery shopping this afternoon and beginning the South Beach diet which I lost weight on previously. I am 31, mom to 2 and a teacher. I look forward to knowing you all.

Hi McMama22 - welcome back! Can't wait to get to know you better!

Knicky77 - way to go on the running! I found that to be a wonderful stress reliever. I ran my first Half Marathon last year - wow, what a feeling! We just had our 4th child in May, so I am slowly working my way back.

Hope everyone had a nice Sunday! We were able to get another couple of miles in down the trail. DH pushed the stroller with the baby and toddler in it and our 7 year old rode her bike. DH is 6'4" and I'm 5"4", so keeping up with his walk was good for me!

Tomorrow is weigh in...yikes!

Hey there...

Running has definitely been a great stress reliever. One of my friends suggested running back in January and a group of us started off very slowly and worked up to where we are now (we ran 6 miles this morning).

There are lots of good running training sites out there, but my friends and I use Hal Higdon's site and I believe he has a 10K training schedule. I like that his routines inlclude cross training, strenth training, and stretching/rest days. It's nice to have that balance...

Thank you to everyone for the nice welcome : ) I am excited to be a part of this...
