Default Starting my journey...need support!

Hi everyone-

I had that "click" moment today. The weather outside is beautiful and warm (pretty rare for Washington state!) I went to go put some capri pants on that I wore last summer, and I couldn't even pull them over my hips, much less button them.

God, it was so depressing. I know I've gained weight in the last several months, but as I'm sure you all know, it's easy to avoid it by buying new clothes or just not looking in the mirror. Today, I faced the truth, and the truth is UGLY!! Blech.

About a year ago I lost about 15 or so pounds working out almost every day and eating a very restrictive diet (around 1200 cals a day). I felt amazing, but it was so hard to keep up (obviously, since I've gained it all back PLUS 10 pounds).

I've made the decision to join Weight Watchers, as I need to be held accountable by publicly weighing in and knowing someone is going to be keeping track of me. Plus, I like that fact that it supports steady weight loss, not a "quick fix". I did it about 7 years ago with my mom, and lost 15 pounds in about 3 months. Now my mom lives about 2 hours away from me, so I don't have a buddy to be my support system. I'm writing this because I'm hoping I can find that support system here!

Sorry for this long novel. I'm hoping that by writing this, I will put this whole thing into motion and really stick with it this time. Thanks everyone for listening (er...reading)!

I'm doing WW, too. I love WW. Good luck. We will both lose the weight and keep it off together!

I can be really depressing when how much you've let yourself go hits. I found this site when I decided it was time for me to do something about it. This is an awesome group of people that can give amazing support. I don't have a weightloss or fitness buddy because I'm not comfortable telling people that I'm actively trying to lose weight and become healthy. This site has really helped me stay motivated to keep working towards my goals even if I do get off track from time to time.

Good luck on the beginning of your journey. You can do it!

You can do it for sure! I did WW a few years ago when I had a buddy to go to meetings & the gym with. She bailed on me though. I'm glad I re-found this site for new buddies!

You can do it hun! You really can. I went to my first WW meeting on Thursday, after a long hiatus. It really just is the best. As long as you stick to your points and keep up some exercise you'll be dropping weight left right and center

I have never done WW but my best friend started in November of 07 and by June of 08 she had lost 55 lbs. Unfortunately she decided rather to keep using the system to maintain, she used her own and gained back 20 (it wasn't as much of a system as i'm-gonna-eat-as-much-as-i-want). As long as you stick with it, it really works. Don't give up on it like she did. We're all here to support you! Good Luck!

WW is wonderful for steady weight loss especially in comparison with your old diet of 1200 calories (I can imagine that would be incredibly frustrating). If you've had your "click" moment then hopefully this is it for you :] We're all here for support!

Hi! I'm doing Weight Watchers as well and I'm sure you can get support from a lot of the other people on the board who are doing it too. I really like it and it's the only thing that has worked for me.

Welcome! WW is definately an amazing program. I started in March and lost six pounds in my first month... Then I slacked.... And stopped meetings... And have managed not to gain... much. SO, I am restarting this week as well. We do have a WW thread in our forum somewhere, I'll post in it so it will resurface.

Good luck, and remember, we are all going through the same things, and we are there for each other!
