Default Thursday Chatterings

Good morning!

It's a foggy morning here, but it's suppposed to burn off and it's rumored the sun is actually going to make an appearance today. It will sure be welcome after so many dreary, soggy days.
I'm rushing around here getting tonight's supper together for Jake, and putting on a pot of Black Bean soup for myself. It's so nice to come home to supper already prepared.
I think today's activities will include something outside. We got a load of compost for the girl's vegetable garden, but it's going to be too muddy to work it into the soil. The girls can't wait to get started planting, though! We may go on a nature walk, instead, and look for pollywogs in the creek.
Right now it's time for my oatmeal with fruit and yogurt, and a second cup of coffee.

Good morning It's good to be home! I'm happy to say the scale wasn't totally horrific this morning wither, so I guess I did alright in spite of the lasagna, cookies and dark chocolate. Lots of portion control though there could have been more self control

Cottage - hope you see the sun today. I'm putting black beans on too - must be the day

I'll be catching up all day. 3 days doesn't sound like much but it can really pile up. Have a good day Chicks

Good Morning!

Well today I was supposed to go shopping but been up all night doing laundry and at the last minute my "now fixed" cat left me a wet surprise on my bed.. so I had to get in yet one more load of laundry. So ya, gonna have a nice clean bed and gonna be taking a shower so I'm clean when I get into bed. Uhh, sucks that I'm gonna be sleeping half of the day, but better than no sleep at all.

I think I'm gonna stay up til like 9 or 10 am so I can call the Grocery Store I shop at (I applied for a job there) and see if the Manager looked at my application and see about an interview.

Good luck with the job, Jelly! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Welcome home, Cyndi! It sounds like you did pretty well with your eating while you were home. I know that can be pretty challenging!

Thanks Cottage

I'm bidding on a Wii Console plus Bundle.. I can't believe people are still bidding over $300 for a Wii, that's insane. I won't pay no more than like $150 for any gaming system, not that I have $150 anyway, lol.

Hi chicks, I can see the sun already and I will no excuses get out for a noontime walk to enjoy it and soak up some sunshine.

Yesterday was no fun, I got the taxes in and had to write a whopping check to go along with it, which I expected (although I hadn't expected quite so much) and was why I had put it off so long. Fortunately I had our vacation money sitting around, so I guess it's for the best that we canceled our trip. I told DH we made too much $$ last year and he generously offered to become a kept man, but I turned him down since that would just mean I'd be earning all the money AND doing all the housework and childcare. No thanks. Anyway, as I told DH we shouldn't whine, since many would be happy to have our jobs right now.

Hmm, maybe I should put on some black beans, seems to be the day. I was thinking split pea soup after all the chatter yesterday got me thinking about it. Tonight is leftover night, so I don't have to cook otherwise.

DS has been having terrible allergy issues this week, guess I need to get him to a doctor, but we've done that before and he hated the Flonase. I'm trying Claritin right now, and it seems to be helping.

We missed you Cyndi, good luck with the catching up!
Jelly and me4life, I wish you luck in the job hunting.
A pollywog hunt sounds super fun cottage.

good morning ladies,

Cottage-looking for polliwogs with the girls sound like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. City kids sure don't get many chances to do this.

Cyndi-happy catch up day. Glad your scale was nice after your visit home.

JellyBean-gotta love the animals! Good luck on the job call.

me4life-Hope you get the call. Enjoy the day.

I found some extra moments to jump on the computer!! I have the morning walk in this morning. It was a cool one, 45 degrees, not bad for some of you but Tuesday it was 88! I will be glad when it finally warms up. I got phone calls from 3 of the 4 kids teachers yesterday all before lunch, what is up!!!! I came home and sat them all down and told them they all could not act up on the same day anymore because I could only handle one crisis at a time! Nothing that required a PHONE CALL HOME really just kids being kids but all on the same day was enough. Wow my few extra moments are gone and now it is time to go pack lunches and get the kids moving hopefully for a more peaceful day.

Have a great day and a safe one too!!

Morning all!!

Looks like it's going to be a pretty day today. Kind of cold right now, but hopefully will warm up. I've been out in the back yard puttering around in my robe. Yesterday I planted some (what I think is) grape tomato plants. (that's the only tomotos I bought all winter) They have been coming up in all of my potted plants after I added compost to them, so I might as well use them. I had gotten some "grow bags" a few years ago and never used them, so I'm trying an experiment of growing them in bags hanging on the fence. Want to add a few marigolds to the bags too. Should be a fun experiment.

Speaking of compost, my expensive electric composter bit the dust a couple of days ago. Don't know whether the motor died or the cord went bad or what. Will have my oldest son look at it and see if he can get it going again. (he got the motor on a 60 year old kitchen vent fan going again, so if it's fixable he can fix it) Of course it it now out of warranty.
I ordered a bunch of black 5 gallon lidded buckets to start more compost in just in case he can't fix it and will use them anyway since we have so many veggie scraps during the summer.

Speaking of experiments....I'm trying a stevia experiment this morning. I found a recipe....you mix stevia leaves and vodka and let it sit for 24 hours in a jar. (I mixed it all in my food processor) Then you heat it up to get rid of the alcohol and supposedly you have a sweetener. I'm wondering how many calories the vodka will add. I read you can also do it with water, but the alcohol extracts more of the sweetness from the leaves. Will let you know how it turns out. Buying stevia is so expensive and my stevia plant is growing like crazy, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Nothing else on my plate today. MAY go out to the swamp today. I have to go shopping for a new dress to wear to that formal this weekend too,,,,but have a good back up in case I don't see what I want. And I refuse to pay a fortune for one.

Oh, by the way, yesterday I found some great little turkey "filet mignons" that we grilled. I had my husband take the bacon off of mine and it was really good if you come across them in the grocery store.

Morning, Chickies!

I'm still battling this cold. I feel woozy and miserable and hope there aren't a ton of panicked students in here today.

I still need to order my mulch, Cottage, and I'm tempted to order compost. I'd love to get the manure at a local horse farm, but ever-practical DH has reminded me that I need a way to get it from their farm to our house...and I'm not sure how to do that.

Hope everyone has a great day! to everyone looking for jobs!

Quick as I'm about to catch the airport shuttle. Yesterday went very well and my lawns are now raked and looking good. I think the dogs were somewhat disappointed in their yard as there were no more pine cones, sticks and assorted oddments to play with. Jazz's current favourite toys (very old bones) have disappeared!

I am meeting a friend from work in Halifax for dinner tonight. We've seen each other only once since 1998 and will have lots to catch up on although we have stayed in touch by email. Tomorrow I brave the wilds of Nova Scotia and drive to visit Meowee for a few days but will keep an eye on you Beachies.

Have a great Thursday.

Good morning ladies!!! Happy Thursday!

You all are a chatty bunch this morning, and of course I'm running behind schedule. So unfortunately, no personals this morning. Sorry

Yesterday was really good. I ate completely on plan and even managed to get in some exercise last night. It felt really good. On the down side I was super tired and could have completely fallen asleep around 9 last night, but fought it so I didn't get too much sleep and finally went to bed around 10. I'm hoping my energy level is better today.

At work today I'm taking a very small group of students down to a restaurant here in town. I know the owner, she's fantastic, and she's going to talk to the students about what it takes to run a restaurant, and other jobs they might find at a restaurant. I'm hoping it goes really well. My one problem is that she's then cooking lunch for us. I've got my fingers crossed that she'll be able to accommodate me and my food needs. I may just ask for a salad. But regardless, I'm really looking forward to introducing Cathy to my students. She's fantastic!!!

Have a great day, ladies!
BLESSINGS!!!!
