Default What's the nicest thing someone has said to you?

Yesterday, when chatting with a friend, I was offering my help with her situation, and she said I was the sweetest person and had the heart the size of California. I just thought that was so kind of her to say, it made my day, and I really didn't even realize I was being extra kind, just being a friend.

What is a nice thing someone has said to you?

In my graduate school program, after we do a rotation in a lab for a few months, the professor evaluates us and we have to read it and sign it. There are a bunch of things to rate us on, then a comments section. I blushed reading the comments that my last professor wrote! He said I was a strong independent scientist, motivated and organized, interacted well with everyone else in the lab, and that I understood our field really well (a field that I had NO experience in prior to being in his lab). When he handed it to me, he said they'd be "delighted" to have my join the lab for the rest of my graduate work. I had a smile on my face for the next hour! He's a pretty famous guy who does incredible work, so hearing that from him meant a lot to me.

Weight-loss related.

Soon after I hit maintenance, I was wearing a pair of new dark brown linen capris and a crisp short sleeved white button down shirt. A co-worker told me I looked like Audrey Hepburn. I walked on clouds the rest of the day and still hold that compliment close to my heart. As a former obese person, it was the most amazing thing anyone ever said to me.

I was told that I have a heart as big as all outdoors! That felt so wonderful.

A teacher I admire once told me that if she ever had a daughter, she'd want her to be like me. Probably the best compliment I've ever received.

I like this thread. A cab driver once told me I was a better human than most people he'd met. I think he was just happy I talked to him on the ride. I have it written in the back of my notebook for rough days.

Mine is weight loss related also. One day I was at the gym, and someone I don't know came up to me and told me that I should keep up the good work because she's noticed my weight loss, and the hard work is paying off.

I think I should try to do a better job of complimenting at least one person a day. That compliment could make a world of difference.

My college age son said to me last week, "Thanks, Mom. Thanks for understanding." Due to some last-minute situations, his friend from college needed to come to our home in the middle of the night and stay for a few days. So hearing him thank me sincerely for being understanding really melted my heart!

I was told a similar thing as icando. I was at a gyn appointment at my college (getting on BC for the first time), and I was telling her how my now-husband and I had been together a long time, and we were completely monogamous and how we were in love for years, and she was happy about how responsible I was and told me "I have a little girl, and I hope someday she grows up to be like you." It was really an honor to hear that.

There are many that stand out, but my favorite is, "You set such a wonderful such an example. Your smile is one that just makes others happy being around you."

Oh, my best weight-realated one was when I was down to my lowest weight (120) and my dad's friend told me that I looked like a triathlete. I didn't know they necessarily had a "look," but I decided it must mean I looked like I had both decent upper and lower body strength.

one night after an evening of tying one on properly.... we were all headed home. and a friend, casual acquaintance really, said "stellart, you are the most beautiful girl i've ever seen in my entire life." it was completely random. and everyone just stopped and got quiet. it was just really genuine and sincere.
