Default LA Weight Loss Maintenance...Please help!

Hi everyone!

This site is awesome! I've looked at it briefly off and on a few times, but just actually registered today. Good luck to all of you! Keep up the hard work!!

I used the LA weight loss purple plan back in 2006 and lost 35 lbs before my wedding (I never reached the stabilization or maintenance phases...just quick going). Of course, I got cocky since I reached my goal and threw away all of my materials and ended up regaining the 35 lbs. Shame on me!

Last year I found out that the center I went to was closing (when I finally decided I wanted to get back on track). I did manage to find and purchase all of the plans on ebay, so I'm ready to start fresh. The plans I received did come with stabilization and maintenance pages, but they are very generic. All of the sheets are photocopied from what looks to be a slightly older set of plans or maybe even Canadian ones, not sure. They are very similar to what I had before in my purple plan, so hopefully they should work.

I'm not sure how to handle the maintenance phase once I get back there, though. I've gained and lost weight hundreds of times, but have always struggled with maintenance! When I was going to the centers, they had a book on maintenance. Once when I cheated and had cheesecake, they told me that it was 2 starches, 1 dairy, and 3 fats. Does anyone know where I could find this information??? I'm sure I won't be giving up sweets forever! The maintenance sheets that I have only tell me how many fats, proteins, etc. I can have...not how to count them when you eat something other than what's in the weight loss plans. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!!

Dawn - I never made it to maintenance so I have no idea. I THINK Kristen (KrispieD) got to maintenance - you may want to send her a msg since Im not sure she checks this board much anymore.

I just found this too (not sure who posted it)

Here is the informaton that the COD Gave me for stabalization.

Week 1:
Add unlimited Vegetables.

Week 2:
Add 1 Dairy Portion

Week 3:
Add 1 Fat
Add 1/2 Protein
Increase your Protein portion by 1/2 if you are following Green, Gold or Purple Plans" Called Center and talked to Catherine for clarification on the Protein portion addition since changing to new plans from colored plans. She said you should still increase your protein portion by 1/2.

Week 4:
Add 1 Fruit.
See Comment. Weigh Yourself. Review Weight Log for Week 1. If your weight today is within 3 pounds of the highest weight recorded during week one, add 1 Fruit. If it is over 3 pounds higher than highest weight during week 1, do not add Fruit. For Example, Highest Weight during week one is 125. Todays weight is 129, Do Not Add Fruit

Week 5:
Add 1 Starch
See Above comment from week 4. Note: If you did not add the Fruit from Week 4 you will need to chose either adding the Starch or the Fruit, but do not add both. So do you want a fruit or a starch?

Week 6:
Add 1 Fat
See Above comment from week 4. Note: If you did not add the Fruit or Starch from Week 4 and 5, you will need to choose either adding the Starch, Fruit or the Fat. So do you want a fruit, a starch or a fat?

Joni,

Thanks so much for trying to find information for me! I will also try to contact Kristen. Would it be possible for you to please tell me how to message? Since I'm new to this site, I'm not quite sure how to do that.

Thanks again! Much appreciated!

Dawn - when you want to send a private msg to someone you click on their user name (above their avatar) and you get a drop down box with options to send a private message. It's been so long since KrispieD's been here, I could not find a msg with her name attached..If you look through some old posts, I'm sure you'll find something. That being said, though, I think the Stabiliation menu below came from KrispieD, so this may be all the info she has to share. Good luck.

Are you talking about the foods you add each week into stabilization or the actual maintenance menu plan kit that tells you how to count different foods. In a nutshell, lean pork and beef still only count for 1 protein (3 oz. cooked). Summer sausage, bologna, bratwurst, frankfurter, regular fat ham, kielbasa, meat spreads, pastrami, pepperoni (1 oz.), polish sausage (1 oz.) and salamai will all count for 1 protein AND 1 fat for a 2 oz. serving (unless indicated otherwise above.)

2 inch square cake= 2 starches, 1 fat
1 small cupcake= 2 starches, 1 fat
1 2 oz. regular doughnut = 2 starches, 1 fat
1 slice pie (fruit based)= 3 starches, 1 fat
1 2.5 oz. sweet roll or danish = 3 starches, 1 fat
2 fat free cookies = 2 starches
1/2 cup fat free ice cream= 1 starch
1/2 cup regular ice cream = 1 starch, 1 fat

That's some of the most common ones that my clients would ask about so I hope that helps. Most of the foods are things that you are already able to count- for instance mac'n cheese......... it contains pasta, cheese, milk and butter usually so for a 1/2 cup serving *using 2% cheese if possible and skim milk* you would count 1 starch, 1 fat and 1 dairy (some people don't use as much cheese as I do but I always use a full dairy worth). Hope this helps

Dawn, I do have the book, but it is rather long with all sorts of examples. The list from AndreaMarie gives the gist though. Also in maintenance the serving size for rice and pasta goes up from 1/3 of a cup to 1/2 of a cup, so a cup of rice is only 2 starches. Generally you only get one additional starch on maintenance, so managing your starches is a big concern.

20-25 french fries IN MAINTENANCE would be 2 starches and 2 fats from a fast food place.

if you use frozen steak fries and bake them then they will be 1.5 starches and 1 fat for seven of them. Tater tots are 9 for 1 starch and 1 fat made at home- baked.

What do you mean by cold meat?

There are three distinct phases. The first is for weight loss.Dieters are assigned somewhere between 1,100 and 1,800 calories a day. After reaching their goal weight, they transition into a 6-week stabilization phase.
The third and final phase is a maintenance program that uses counseling to help maintain weight loss.Candy, doughnuts and other indulgences are reserved for this phase. The diet works out to approximately45% carbohydrates, 35% to 40%protein,and 15% to 20% fat.

Ok thanks! I'm now at 30 pounds lost. In oder to get to my goal, I would have to loose another 15 pounds. Although, loosing another 10 would be enough for me. I find it harder and harder to loose those pounds now..I have lost 1 pound in 3 weeks only. I know that the concillors told me that for the last couple of pounds, I will have to follow a more strict plan (take off some portions/foods) so I could reach my goal. Is this the case now?

AndreaMarie: by cold meats I meant like meat you buy for sanwiches, like sliced ham, turkey, peperoni etc. It was forbiden by my concillor at LAWL because of all the salt there is in the meats.
