Default How do YOU cook Turkey Bacon?

I have a pound of it that I need to use up before I go away at Christmas.
How do you cook the stuff? So far I've tried it in the non-stick pan and am wondering about the GF grill. Cook's Illustrated suggests a 400º oven for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Opinions?

I like it wrapped on asparagus and grilled with a little bit of olive oil. Yum.

Hey, Ruth! I usually cook it in a non-stick pan. It doesn't always come out great. I did read in a newsletter recently that we should cook bacon on parchment in a 375* oven for something like 15 minutes. I'm planning on trying it next time. Let me know if you try the 400* idea and how it works...

either in microwave or in a nonstick on the stove. both are merely adequate methods.

If you find THE ANSWER let us know!

I like microwaving it best. It comes out crunchy and stiff, if that's how you like it. Still not like bacon but at least it's not rubbery. I put it between paper towels and micro 60 sec per piece.

I like mine super super crunchy, so I put it on a microwave safe plate, cover it with paper towels, and cook for 2 - 3 minutes. Yummy...that was my breakfast this morning.

Just tried it in the GF grill - not a success. It's too thin to cook in there. I'll experiment with the micro wave. Turning on the oven for two strips of bacon seems extravagant. I don't want David Suzuki on my case!

We have turkey bacon all the time...I use non stick pan on med-low heat, spray pan with Olive oil, it takes a little longer but tastes soooo much better.

Ruth, you could bake the whole batch, then freeze them. I would think that you could then just heat a couple frozen pieces at a time in the micro.

Or make up the whole batch then break them up for bacon bits in salads

I'll do the whole batch tonight - I need to have a 400º oven for dinner anyhow.

Way back when I used to eat meat I had one of those bacon trys you use in the microwave- they worked great~ and not too pricey, I think I got mine at walmart for about 5 bucks

We LOVE turkey bacon. Even before SBD!

We cook it in a pan -- nothing added to it. I overcook some for some crunch on my salads. I also cut it PRE cooking and add to steamed green beans and some almosds/s&p/olive oil as a side dish.

If I'm cooking the grocery store stuff (Louis Rich), I use my bacon tray in the microwave because I like it crispy. I usually cook the whole pack at once.
I discovered the most awesome turkey bacon at the Pa Dutch market though and I've been getting that lately. It's really thick and has more the texture of "real" bacon. Even the kids like it. That doesn't cook as well in the microwave though, so I pan fry it.
