It's hard to answer that question without being able to see their menu. In general, you'll have to read the descriptions of the food and make a choice. Things that are fried (like tempura) will be more calorific. Sauces can tend to be oily, and high in sodium if that is a concern. Look for something that says it comes with steamed veggies, and ask for the sauce on the side if possible, and use it sparingly. If they serve large portions, ask for a take home box before you dig in, and put half of it away.

These are just general tips, that would work in any restaurant.

Sushi is actually relatively healthy. I never liked raw fish so I always got the cooked or veggie sushi. Now that I don't eat any meat, I eat veggie sushi rolls quite often.

Miso soup is generally healthy as well so you could start with that. Then a few sushi rolls? If you like raw fish, you could do sashimi.

I would have suggested sushi as well, except that she said they don't serve it at the place she is going to.

I wish there were someplace around here that served sushi... /cry

Too late now, but for future reference robata or yakitori (grilled meat, seafood and/or veggies on a skewer) may be worth a try if they have that
