Default Another HITT question...

Because I'm sometimes a little crazy, I picked this week as the week to try to really do a HIIT workout... Well, that isn't exactly right, I hit that 'drop over dead' heart rate by accident yesterday afternoon during kickboxing and could totally tell that what I had been doing up until then wasn't actually HIIT (music motivates me to move apparently.)

Here is my question... Does that "I'm about to fall over, can't do anymore" heart rate vary from day to day for everybody? Yesterday it was 193-195, for about twenty seconds before I had to slow down. Today I felt the exact same way I felt at 195 yesterday but was only at 185, which yesterday I could maintain for several minutes before I slowed back down. Is it lower today because I'm more fatigued from the workout yesterday? I did exercise later in the day yesterday and did pretty intense kickboxing for 30 solid mins (the HIIT came in during the last two songs...)

Kickboxing is going to be a tough one for me to control, because I really enjoy it so I don't pay as much attention to wearing myself out...

Totally. And even within a workout, for me.

There are days that I can just swim right along at 175-180 and feel great and days that I hit 170 and think "omg, I'm gonna die right here".

I agree with PhotoChick. For me it can be from any number of factors - too little sleep/too tired from the previous days workout, not hydrated enough, too much wine the night before

Now, please correct me on this...but I'm under the impression that you shouldn't do a HIIT workout on consectutive days - actually, I thought, any interval workout shouldn't be done on consective days, but especially HIIT.

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Yep, totally know what you mean. Some days I feel like I could go on forever at high-intensity, others it's a struggle just to get in 20 minutes.

I think I've read somewhere that you shouldn't do it two days in a row, can't remember the details or find the link... I was a little too enthusiastic yesterday and did it by accident, so I justified it in my head this morning by telling myself that today was deliberate, yesterday wasn't official. Not doing another one tomorrow though, I can tell you that...

When I can get to the GYM I like to do HIIT every other day and weights on the non HIIT days.
