Default Can you tell me a little more about Jillian's 30 day shred?

It's been recommended to me by various people on this site so I'm considering going to Walmart and getting it.

Question though, what sort of, if any, equipment does it involve? Do you have to have little weights or resistance bands or any of that or just yourself?

Also I must admit I'm skeptical about the 20lbs in 30 days claim. I think 10lbs is reasonable and attainable but 20lbs? I just don't know about all of that.

Still, the video sounds awesome and Jillian Michael's body is awesome so.. I imagine the results are quite nice.

Hi there- I have been doing it for 9 days. All you need is hand weights. I use 5 lbs but you can use whatever you want. That's all you need. I'm sure that I won't lose 20 lbs in 30 days, but I can tell you that I've been working out for a few months and NOTHING makes me sweat like this video. It's amazing! Even when it starts to get easier, is when she changes it up.

I think you should totally try it. I highly recommend it. Come join our thread in the 20somethings.

I'm on day 2 of my shred and man, I am feeling it. Some things are harder then others, especially if you're as unfit as I am. But I'm giving it my all! I agree, I haven't sweat this much at any point I've been to at a gym.

I highly recommend it. You should join us ladies!!

I just ordered this and I'm excited to start! I've got some of her other videos too, and she definitely pushes you.

I just bought it in the store (like, 10 minutes ago..lol) because there was a big sale on exercise DVD's and equipment. so it was only $13. I also bought 2 hand weights (5 lbs) because the DVD suggests getting hand weights. The only other thing I need to get is a mat, because I'm going to be exercising on a hard floor.

I wanted to ask around here to see what people recommend mat-wise.

I've been thinking about this one for a long time. I can't tell you how many times I've done a search for it on ebay and been *this close* to buying it. I think I'll just buy it :]

Anyone who is considering it... and waffling -- it's DEFINITELY worth buying.

I lost 5.5 inches (overall) in just 7 workouts. I can't say that you'll have the exact same results.. but yours could be better! But it's DEFINITELY a good workout.

My best friend, who is in CRAZY shape bought it after I told her about it.. and said it even challenged her! What's most rewarding is doing the first workout and being so sore and tired afterward... and by the fifth workout it starts to get almost easy! It's fun to see that progress.

There are two great threads on the board -- one here in fitness videos and one in the 20-somethings. Join us!

Is it beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels?
Do you add intermediate to beginner once you advance, or do you omit beginner and move on to solely intermediate?

I would say it's hard when you start out and then after a couple of days it gets easier on each level. I feel like I"m starting over in each level.

Another option if you aren't sure if you want to buy it....do you have netflicks or the blockbuster online movie rentals? I don't have the money to buy it right now so I am renting it from blockbuster. You can keep the dvd's as long as you like. So after a few workouts, if I like it, I can go and buy it....

Ever think the only reason 30 day shred works so well is because you have to work out 30 days in a row? Haven't done it myself, but based on the results I've seen, it's not "magic" and the results really compare to 30 days of constant, general, exercise. Just a thought.

That might be part of the reason why it works so well, but not everyone does it thirty days straight. They take days off here and there- I htink it works so **** because your heart rate is constantly elevated and she puts in a mixture of strength, cardio, and abs. But, to each their own opinion

I have been looking for something to do on my "off" days from C25k. Has anybody tried this? Would this be a good workout to do a few times a week?

I did it after being out of comission for 90 days following breast reduction surgery and OMH. I only finished like 10 minutes of it and couldn't barely move the next day. I literally had to crawl to the bathroom the following morning
