My pics show my before and after.....I was at 210 lbs, now I'm at 150. Having struggled with my weight most my life, I felt so desperately out of control. I joined a local gym that has a program where you meet 3 times a week with a counselor/nutritionist, plus do basic weight exercises, like Curves. I lost 60 lbs in 8 months. It was a struggle….ignoring the cravings, making the right decisions, exercising, and staying on track if I made a wrong food choice.
I’ve maintained the 60 lb. loss for 2 years. I’m not really craving cookies, junk and quite so many carbs as I did before, but I do love carbs! I think I was using food for comfort, to help with depression, when feeling bored, anxious, angry, etc. Bit by bit, it’s gotten easier to make the right choices and to eat less. And now I love to go shopping for new clothes…that is my new addiction!
I found this site when I was looking for some motivation. My current goal is to lose this last 20 lbs, finally! I stopped trying when I got close to my goal, maybe thinking it was good enough. I sometimes wonder if I have a fear of being thin (long story). At 5’4” I’d like to be at 130 lbs., and just more toned and healthy.
I posted my story hoping I can help some of you. It’s all a matter of believing in yourself….it is possible! I hope I can inspire you to stay on track and keep aiming towards your goal! I'm still working at it, too. The key is to learn what you're getting out of being overweight....what is it doing for you? For me, food was a comfort, and it took awhile before I was willing to give that up and find other strategies. I also was very afraid of failure....I went years hating my weight but was afraid to start.....I felt so out of control. But once you start seeing success, it gets easier as you go, so don't ever give up!
