Motivation is needed in Amarantha's Empire. Will everyone please add a quote or quotes here that will inspireth the discouraged to continue on their journey no matter what the odds!? Could we see how many we can compileth here?
Here are two:
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." ~ Calvin Coolidge
"When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." ~ FDR
This isn't so much a quote as a bit of inspirational wisdom.
"A year from now, you'll wish you had started today!"
Come on Ladies! How many times have you calculated how much you could have lost if you'd started on New Years Day, on your last birthday, last summer, etc... Start today!
Sara
35 Pounds lighter than I was a few months ago!
Sara Joy, 2Cute, Gutchie ... thanks for your wise words.
I have another one that isn't a quote; well, it is a quote, actually, from my brother. Years ago when I started my sort of over-aged student act and was trying to decide whether to enroll to earn my bachelor's degree, I told him, "But by the time I graduate, I'll be (NUMBER OMITTED) years old!" and he said, "Well, you'll be (NUMBER OMITTED) years old then anyway, but you won't have a bachelor's degree."
Dunno, that always stayed with me and helped remind me to start doing whatever I wanted to accomplish and not worry about whether its the right time in life. It's always the right time to start; it's the only time we have.
"Never think that a few caring people can't change the world; indeed, that's all that ever have." ~ Margaret Meade
"Holy boldness" ... that's a great concept! Thanks, Eydie.
Here are more:
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." ~ Anatole France
"Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right." ~ Henry Ford
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
"The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it-as long as you really believe 100 percent." ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger
One of my favorites is:
"Our real blessings often appear to us
in the shapes of pains, losses and disappointments;
but let us have patience,
and we soon shall see them in their proper figures".
How serendiptious that that would be your quote!!!!!!! That is exactly the message (maybe not those exact words but the sentiment for sure) that finally motivated me to start changing my lifestyle.
In a year from now I could be exactly where I am if I don't make any changes or....... I could be 100 pounds lighter .
And in keeping with the theme of serendipity here is my contribution to this forum of inspirational quotes (unfortunately I didn't record who the author is):
"Concerning all acts of initiative and creation....the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one."
Here's another: "The world is round, so travelers tell, but straight though be the track, trudge on, trudge on, the world is round, the way will lead one back."
I don't know who wrote this, either, but it seems relevant to our weight loss journeys ... that we WILL eventually return to our proper fitness level and body weight, as well as returning to our real selves in the metaphysical self.
