My mom's senior apartment is having a rummage sale. I gave two bags of my big clothes to the sale. That was a scary thing to do, really. I've never given plus size clothes away - no matter what. Isn't it funny - it makes me a little nervous to give them away. I am kind of freaking out about it. Isn't that silly? Like - what if I gain my weight back. I guess I am feeling optimistic about my weight loss - but, it still makes me nervous to have those clothes gone. Had to share those feelings.

I felt exactly the same way when I gave my first 'big' clothes away. Though it's taking a depressingly long time for me to go down in size, I did have some to give away at one point! I made myself do it so I wouldn't have an excuse to gain the weight back, and you know, it worked.
Good for you for taking that step! It's a big milestone, enjoy it.
Good for you Beverlyjoy! It's kind of scary but don't you also feel relieved that you will never need those clothes again? Kind of takes a weight off, so to speak. You are not just letting go of those clothes but also of a Beverlyjoy that needs to wear that size! Celebrate!!
Awesome! That is a tough thing to do, but I wonder if we keep the old clothes around, are we saying that we CAN'T keep the weight off? I think you did the right thing, because you've come so far. Good for you!!
wow-- big step.. i just put two skirts this morning in the donation pile... they were my summer 'go to skirts' for the last 2 years.. elastic waist.. comfy and easy. I had to finally admit they are too big now... very very scary.
I understand how scary that can be. I've been going through clothes and putting them in the give-away bags, and it is *hard* to do. It is a commitment and a step of faith all at once.
Ahhhh, it must feel really 'freeing', in a sense, to do away with those bigger clothes. 'My body will no longer fit into those clothes, and with them gone I can be assured that it never will again'.
In a way I'm sort of doing the same thing, but instead of giving them away, I'm taking all of the old clothes (that I like/haven't fallen apart yet) and taking them up so bigger me wouldn't be able to fit in them anymore.
Good for you! I no longer have fat clothes in my house. I can't tell you how good it is to go to the closet and find clothes that fit and no elastic waist bands. And NO sweat pants ( my customary clothing when I was over 200 pounds ). Congratulations on the great loss you have accomplished.
Well, good--- get rid of those big clothes! Now, if you gain the weight back you have health ramifications AND money ramifications.
Don't tempt yourself--- if your health isn't enough to keep you from gaining again, perhaps spending a LOT of cash on more expensive FAT clothes will keep you from doing it!!!
