good thing i have sugar free berry flavored metamucil already, just a matter of drinking it in 8oz of water rather quickly, takes me awhile to drink water cause i'm not used to it.
for the beans, only thing i know works for my father is baked beans in the can, not sure you can have that during phase 1 can you?
I mix the fiber stuff into P1 appropriate breakfast and snack 'shakes'. Like the ones found in the newest book. You can't taste it, and it thickens it to near shake proportion (if you use the right dose).
Pears are a miracle worker. One before every meal, and lootttts of water. Also, mix a tablespoon of honey into a cup of hot water and add as much fresh lemon juice as you can stomach. Drink this morning and night.
pears are not allowed in phase 1 of South Beach. They would be fine on phase 2. Honey isn't allowed either.
If you aren't used to beans but you like Mexican food, you can take one can of black beans (rinsed), add one can of Rotel (I like Mexican), and top with a small bit of cheese and warm it up. The beans help with constipation and the spiciness of the Rotel makes me more likely to drink water.
If you use the Metamucil (I also have the sugar-free berry favored), take their advice and START SLOWLY. I was feeling backed up on day 3 of phase 1 so I took just one rounded teaspoon of the fiber around lunchtime. On day 4 I was, shall we say, moving a little better in the morning but then had cramping and....um...too much of a good thing mid-day and evening. I haven't needed the fiber supplement since, and I don't do much of the beans. I think it just took my system a day or two to adjust.
By the way, I'm new here, and feeling a bit awkward starting off with such a personally revealing post!! (But I wanted to catch you before you took too much!)
