Are there maybe any gyms in your area that you can join as a casual member - just for the summer?
Alternatively - try the pool. Swimming is a good exercise and it'll keep you cool.

I live in Southern California, where the temps often get up over 100 degrees in the summer. So I know a little bit about hot weather.

Here' some of the things I do to try to beat the heat inside:

*Try drinking some icy cold water before and during your work-out. It always perks me up when I feel like I'm wilting.

*I have two cheapie box fans set up across from each other, and I angle them so that I am in their cross-wind when they're on.

*If you have central A/C, turn the thermostat down low just for the duration of your work-out.

And the most unpopular advice I have: just grit your teeth and get through it, because you know it'll be over soon and then you can put your head in the freezer or jump into a cold shower for some relief.

Hey Leggs,

Welcome to 3FC!

I also live in the Southwest. I get up and run at 5:30 in the morning to beat the heat. Try early mornings or evenings for outdoor exercise. Also if you are a beginning exerciser, it could be that you are tired cause you are doing new things. Pay lots of attention to hydration and listen to your body.

It's nice to have you here!

Hot? Hmmm, yep, I think 113 counts as hot

I make sure I have plenty of really icy water to sip during my workouts. And I focus on the idea that the more I sweat, the more my system is cleansing itself.

I often pierce a ziploc sandwich-sized baggie with a couple small holes, fill it with ice, and wear it under my hat on my head while running. Running in the heat and humidity of summer here in the south is harsh, this helps me alot.
