Default Turns out it's true

Last night we were out to dinner. I decided beforehand that I would have half a Caesar salad, and half a New York strip steak, also one small (donut hole sized) roll. I stuck to my plan, but as I finished my steak I was still hungry.

I just decided I didn't need any more and stopped anyway.

Ten minutes later(with rolls still on the table and dessert being served) I was full. I've always heard that it takes some time for your brain to register full (about 20 minutes.) Now I'm a believer!

Happy Independence Day everyone...I'll be celebrating my independence from unhealthy eating!

BIG, BIG, BIG vctory for you!!!

Great going on waiting it out!!

It's sooo funny. I remember thinking the same EXACT thing when I first stopped eating (because my portion was done with) before I was full. I thought, "Hey, *they* really were telling the truth. It DOES take time for your brain to catch up with your stomach". Kinda cool, no?

Happy Independence Day indeed. Having control over our eating is the best possible reason to celebrate.

I have to do this every day at lunch time. I eat my lunch at work and then I have another 45 minutes of lunch hour to kill (usually with a book, since I work in a library and all) and I always want something sweet to finish off my meal. If I ignore it long enough the craving will go away, but this is the main reason I don't bring cash to work (there's a vending machine right outside the break room; major danger zone!)

Good for you waiting it out! I know how hard that can be.

We learn something new every day! Great victory for you. Takes 20-30 min for the stomach to send a signal to the brain that it's had enough. I always ask for a doggie bag at the BEGINING of the meal and take away what i'm not going to eat. Unlike you, if it's still sitting there i will pick at it untill it's gone!!! But, out of sight out of mind.

Great job!

If I feel hungry after I eat my portions, I tell myself that after an hour, I can have something if I feel hungry.
It does take time for the brain to catch up!

Good job! This works for me as well. After my food is finished and I still would like something, I make myself wait 15 minutes and drink a glass of water.

Good job! Leaving half a NY strip must have taken a lot of control. Ya done good!
