So, I have been obsessing over the scale for the last 6 months. I have official weigh ins on tuesdays, but, I weigh myself like 4x a day. It drives me up the wall! SO, I have decided that at the begining of the next weight loss challenge, I will hide my scale and when the wellness coach weighs me, I will ask for the number to not be said out loud. I will go 12 weeks without knowing how much weight I am losing, and I will (hopefully) be pleasantly supprised at the end of all of it! I think seeing a major change will keep me motivated.
I am obsessed with weighing myself also. I think if I didn't weigh myself for more than a week I would eat stuff I shouldn't and think in the back of my head "I can work this off" but if I see I gained a pound or something, I feel the need to change it right then.

We for sure all have to figure out for ourselves what is best and that will of course vary greatly. But, I don't know - 12 weeks? Seems like an awfully long time. I mean what if for some some reason you weren't losing and you were working real hard. It would be a shame for 12 weeks to pass and you wouldn't know. No chance for you to change things up and to tweak it to possibly change the situation, if need be. And if you're relying on the scale to motivate you, 12 weeks seems like a heckuva long time to wait, no?

That is the length of the challenge... Actually, now that I think about it, by the time we actually start the new challenge at the new location we're joining, they'll be 3 weeks in and it will only be 9 weeks of not knowing... But, maybe I'll tell them to let me know when I gained or stayed the same, but not to tell me how much I lost
I can't look at the scale- it depresses me and that leads to eating. I haven't known my true weight in like 10 years! I guessed and recently asked my trainer (who now weighs me weekly but doesn't tell me the # just how much I lost) if I was over or under 250. She said a little over so I've been going now based on that. I don't even wanna know till that scale says 199!
I am also obsessed with the scale and i know i shouldnt be, but its my first stop every morning!!! (well, maybe my second lol)
I'm really not so sure that's a bad thing. For me at least, it's a reality check first thing in the morning. It makes me AWARE of why I'm doing what I'm doing (eating right and exercising). It keeps me alert to the fact that everything I put in my mouth has a consequence, whether good or bad. I avoided the scale for over 15 years. That didn't work out so well. When I finally stepped on it it told me I was 287 lbs. Sure, I knew I was morbidly obese without actually weighing myself. But I can't help but think, (could be wrong) had I only been aware of the actual numbers, came face to face with it each and every morning, instead of hiding my face in the sand, it may have woken me up sooner and actually made me DO something earlier.
We for the most part dictate what that scale says. Not down to the very last pound, there ARE fluctuations of our body on a daily basis. But truth be told, if we're brutally honest with ourselves, which is what I think is needed in order to maintain proper weight, WE most certainly DO have control over that scale. It IS up to us in what it says and what it does. No reason to fear it whatsoever.
I think each person has to find their peace with the scale. Naytally - yes, I think that weighing 4 times a day is alot - ask yourself - "Is weighing 4 times a day helpful?" I think you've answered it.
Some folks like to weigh once a day and only record one day a week and can accept the daily fluctuations. Some folks like to weigh once a week or maybe twice a week. I have a friend who lost and maintained a huge weightloss for 20 years and she weighs once a month. Everyone has to find what works for them.
If all that weighing isn't productive - then do cut back. Try to find what works for you. There have been times in my life when I just needed to concentrate on eating well and have gone on a "scale strike" for a while.
Some people need that constant accountability. Other people find it counter productive. Try and see what works for you.
I weigh about once a week - once in a while twice. I can become obsessed with the scale and get very very down if it doesn't say what I think I deserve it to say. It's a tricky thing for me.

This is the struggle I am facing right now. The scale hasn't moved in 3 day's and I have stayed OP. It is very dicouraging. I know I shouldn't weigh every day. But I don't think going to the other extreme and weighing to seldom would be good for me either.
